Let me start by saying that this restaurant feels overpriced, especially when compared to other breakfast spots like Denny's. While I appreciate the nostalgic aesthetic--reminiscent of old-school diners or even the classic Zeller's cafeteria--the charm doesn't quite make up for the food. I ordered a standard breakfast: sausages, eggs, and fries. It's the kind of meal that should be hard to get wrong, yet it was surprisingly bland. There was little to no flavor--no seasoning, no depth. At places like Denny's, you at least get a bit of flavor and seasoning, but here it felt like something was missing, possibly even just a pinch of salt. May 14/2023: Breakfast with my amazing wife. This was a decent breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs & french toast. All tasted very good & all had the right hot temperatures. What stood out was the server staff. Our server was exceptionally nice & made us feel special. She made a minor error in the bill (charged for a coffee we didn't order) but we decided that it wasn't a biggie, point it out & let it go. She even gave my wife a flower as we left. The worst food I've ever had. Avoid no matter what!! I order a lot of food and love trying new places. This is one of the worst. The bread was stale and barely had any sauce. Chicken was like rubber, tiny and old. Onion rings greasy and also stale. The desserts are some of the worst. Cheesecake was hot and not even chilled, rancid tasting. The Cinnamon bites were disgusting and full of batter. This has to be among the WORST restaurants I've ever eaten at. Wow. What the hell is wrong with you people? Are you proud to serve this inedible dirt? The prices are so outrageous that it's literally a joke. Scumbags of the earth stealing other people's money for a quick buck. food was undercooked. Waitress was unbelievably odd from the beginning of service. Specials menu had $26.99 breakfast? We ordered the $18.99 breakfast from the menu. I asked for toast instead of home fries. Up charge of $2.50. I asked for the bacon well done. Was asked if I wanted more water for my tea? I asked for another tea bag and another up charge of $3.50 per tea bag. We said that was kind of not cool as it's unlimited coffee??? Our plates came. Bacon undercooked and home fries on the plate. No toast. I said I asked for well done....I had requested toast as well....waitress got very snippy. At this point we had had enough. It was 9am. The doors were still locked and I thought something was wrong inside before we even entered. We told the waitress this....she seemed a bit off from the beginning. I told her she had made is extremely uncomfortable and we were leaving. I put a $10 on the table and said it was for our tea and coffee. She started screaming at us that she was calling the police because we dining and dashing. I said go ahead. We are refusing to eat there due to her attitude and badly prepared meals. This place is a perfect greasy spoon joint! I loved the diner look and feel to the location. There are lots of little old school coin jukeboxes beside each table. All the wall are full of old classic American brands advertisement signs and slogans. The service was fast and the server was very friendly. The server checked up on us if the food was good. Now the food... I ordered they veg omelette well I have tasted better but hey this is a "greasy spoon" so all good. The omelette was huge and came with potatoes which were ok. There are no fruits but they give you a piece or two. So enjoy the décor and some greasy American style diner food! Over all decent visit with huge portion sizes! read more

You know how he always said "gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." I can understand why. The prices at first seem a bit high. I originally came in wanting to try it but just had a full meal and the curiousity drove me there to try a small hamburger. I got this giant meal of a burger, loaded for 2 digits on the bill. The waitress did tell me that they are expensive, but they're amazing. They're really good and worth the try. For that price, I did with the bun was warmer. Aside from that, I can understand why Wimpy would have his own burger joint. It's decently good and the portions are more than reasonable, but the price seems a tad high, which for that, I'd go to Harveys. What makes this place so amazing is the diner feel and the diner service is very good, once you get a feeling of the place and feel the vibe. I came at lunch, It wasn't too busy, just a few local customers. If you do have a big appetite and want to try something different. Come up to Wimpy's and give it a try. Next time if I can, I want to try their breakfasts, but this trip, my waistline wouldn't allow it. As for the burger, I'm glad I came. I'd come again for sure. read more

The food portion size here is òk compared to other locations.. some day they have very friendly staff guess it depends on the day and how busy they get. I usually get the flashback breakfast or their roast beef meal which is very good.. Flashback combo comes with 3 eggs 2 bacon 2 sausage and 2 pemeal bacon I usually change the pemeal into one sausage and 1 bacon so I get three of each and comes with taters I guess you would call them even if their photo show medallion potatoes and 2 pancakes which are always fluffy.. Roast beef meal comes with sliced roast beef on top of a Texas toast smothered in gravy which I go crazy over and has side dishes of mashed potatos (or you can get fries or rice) I prefer the mashed potato and steamed veggies.. if you have a big appetite I suggest getting those two dishes they will for sure make you full.. But today I tried something different got there wimpys famous hamburger meal same like roast beef but minus the toast and come with a 6oz or 10oz burger with grilled onions on top.. and my boyfriend got the famous hamburger with onion rings and a side of poutine.. 2019-05-05: I had their Fish n Chips. Your choice of 1 or 2 battered fillets of haddock, fries and creamy coleslaw. I ordered 2 fillets, and didn't want the creamy coleslaw. We received 1 waffle with a piece of flattened, over OVER cooked chicken on top for $21!!?? Not even close to being worth it! Sandwiched amongst a chorus line of eateries in the Queen/Torbram area is Wimpy's Diner. I've been there a few times, and depending on when you go, the experience can vary. Service has always been up and down for me. There was a time when I was the only one in there, and would have to wait an eternity for the waitress, and at other times, they've been prompt and awesome. The interior is your typical 50's/60's diner-style setup, complete with the little mini-jukeboxes that will faintly play "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" and other semi-annoying gems if you feed it money. Typically I'll play "Monster Mash" and twist my mustache sinisterly, while I wait for my food. The menu items I've sampled have also varied significantly in quality. The breakfasts were especially disappointing. I haven't tasted the more expensive dinner items out of fear, and the sides flat-out stink. How do you screw up fries? Yerrgh. The one menu item that earns this place a 3-star place in my heart is their zipper-splitting burgasm-inducing slice of heaven that is their 10oz hamburger steak. So seriously delicious. The impossibly hot chick of 50's diner burgers, I'd give this thing a horizontal hug if I could. Not much else to see here. There is a little bar, but I'll be damned if I ever see somebody actually take advantage of it. This location also appears to have set up a patio just in time for winter. Good job guys! Came here with my family of 6 and welcomed by very friendly and thoughtful staff. Service was fast and efficient and food portions are huuuugggeee! One appetizer served 3 people and one main meal can do the same. Food tastes delicious and salads are fresh and loaded! Not sure if the business is new but the name outside the building was still on tarpaulin stuck in the roof. The place looks like a 50's diner and designer clearly paid attention to detail. The lady who served us actually had the Marilyn Monroe hair and my senior mom-in-law was so impressed. All in all, good place with good food and fantastic service!!! read more

This is a neat little diner. Our usual faves are the Eggs Benedict and the cheeseburger with its oddly-shaped, oversized patty. Not necessarily because it's the best burger I've ever had (though it IS pretty darn good) but because it's go different. When you're eating it, it makes you feel like there's so much meat it's literally overflowing. Pretty novel I think. We've also had the turkey dinner and hot beef sandwich. Setting Very cute retro setting, love the juke boxes at the table with songs, even though they don't work, they are EPIC. NEW Flashback Combo 3 eggs, 2 pcs peameal, 2 pcs bacon, 2 sausages, home fries and 2 buttermilk pancakes. Eggs were made perfectly, they were light fluffy and down right delicious... added a little salt and pepper great, the sausages were very tasty as was the bacon strips, crispy and cooked perfectly. The peameal bacon was drier than I would have liked, cooked a bit too much and perhaps for far too long, it's an unforgiving meat to cook, because after you have gone over the threshold for perfection it's like a piece of rubber, no one can fault you, it's hit or miss some days for anyone. Home fries were undercooked, and a tad crunchy and I like my home fries mushy with some onions, but I could appreciate the pieces that were well cooked and ate them as they were lovely. My biggest disappointment was the pancakes, I could have easily overlooked everything if the pancakes were light, fluffy and soaked up the lovely syrup you provided but sadly, it was a no go.. one side was light and fluffy, the underneath however was hard and chewy. I will try again, as I believe you deserve another chance, pancakes are not my strong suit personally and we have all had our days waring with that breakfast food. This scores a 2/5 NEW French Toast served with Nutella Drizzled with chocolate hazelnut. Served with whipped cream. My boyfriend and I have one word for this breakfast treat "Perfection". Score - 5/5 Vanilla & Banana Shake AMAZING!!!! Score 5/5 Coffee It's pretty good coffee, and they are very generous with their milk and cream. Bonus. Score 5/5 Service - Our server was a lovely lady, she did her best to accommodate us and food was brought out in a timely manner. The exterior was never appealing to me, but after hearing good things from my friends about the diner, I decided to go for my self. The interior was unexpected. It had a really cute retro 80s theme, with walls of posters, juke boxes at every table, and more 80s accessories. It was amazing, the staff was super nice, and the food was great. The name Wimpy's states the obvious. The food here is awful. I would not feed a dog or even the homeless this crap as it is inhumane treatment. I asked for a burger rare to medium rare and restaurant would not cook to request. The club sandwich was dry and the diner did not even put Mayo on the sandwich. Stay clear from this place. Really good quality burgers, fries and their milkshakes/ floats are generously portioned. The food was priced perfectly, nothing to expensive considering portion sizes were huge. However their pancakes were not as great as their other menu foods , was a bit more dense (still good pancakes but not as good as other breakfast places).
