Starbucks closed for two weeks so I decided to try some other places. Winans is definitely a gem! Their point/punch system is also really awesome.

FYI, don't get the smoothies or milkshakes here. We came here the other day for some and the consistency of both were just too watery. My buckeye milkshake was basically a cup of chocolate milk almost... and for almost $5! You're better off going down to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a smoothie. And stick to the chocolate and coffee at Winan's.

Good coffee and nice ambience. What more do we need? It's a good place to sit and study as it's not too busy always.

Pricy but the wine and chocolate tastings are fun! My favorite are the chocolate covered orange peels.

    Do they serve breakfast?

No. They have coffee and Chocalte’s but they are well worth the stop. I love this place

Buckeyes and meltaways are simply amazing, so good in fact that I shamelessly can put away a whole box in one sitting.

Not sure how to best represent our experience. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great and it seemed…read morea bit pricey for what we got. I think we spent $70 with a tip and that was for 3 people. No Alcohol. One soda and 3 entrees and an appetizer. Again, the food wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I posted pics of what we got. The shrimp po boy was probably the most disappointing. Don't get me wrong...loaded with shrimp but just your pre-made shrimp, fried and served. My Rasta pasta was really good. Plentiful and heat was just right. The little piece of bread tasted like it may have been a bit out of date. The jerk cheesesteak was good and good flavor. Fries were my favorite. Had a bit of the coating on them and crunchy and just really tasty. Appetizer of fried ochre was 10 out of 10. Portion size was generous and they came out smoking hot and tasted great. Dining room was a bit odd...like a 60's jazz bar. Music was loud for the amount of people there. We were seated by one person who told us they would be serving us and then another guy came and told us he would be taking care of us. Seems like it may be a "whoever gets to the table first and takes an order gets the table". It was an odd exchange when the girl who seated us came back only for us to say some guy already took our drink order. Unclear as to who was supposed to do what but that made things a little weird. I would be willing to go back but my wife wasn't impressed so I don't know as we will return. We wanted to try it as we had heard great things but now that we have, not sure we need to go back. Food wasn't awful, something just left an odd taste with us and our experience.

Located inside of Osaka Japanese…read moreSteakhouse, it's a separate entity inside the restaurant operated by the former wine staff from Bruning's Wine & Clock. It offers wine tastings on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5-8 PM, with the Wednesday night tastings often hosted by reps from area wine distributor. Full menu service from the restaurant is available during wine tastings. The retail part of the Wine Cellar covered most of the bases with regards to its selection found on the racks arranged around the bar area of the restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. While its selection of wines was very limited especially compared to grocery stores and many other wine shops, they seemed quite affordable, ranging mostly from $10-$70 with the majority falling on the lower end of the spectrum, and focusing on more less well known wines from smaller production winemakers. Although the Wine Cellar and the restaurant operate separately and the restaurant offers a full wine list at the standard restaurant markup for wine, I was told that diners who buy a bottle at the Wine Cellar at retail price can drink that wine in the restaurant with their meal for a nominal corkage fee ($6?). That's a win! In the end, the Wine Cellar in Osaka isn't my usual first stop when I'm looking for a bottle of wine. That said, as a place to taste wines, it exceeds all of my expectations with friendly, knowledgeable service, and exceptional choices of wine to sample.

Emporium Wines & the Underdog Cafe is a cute and cozy charming little shop with lots of wine for sale and some tasty food. There isn't a ton of seating, so we had to share a table with a kind stranger while we enjoyed our iced Americanos and breakfast focaccia. The breakfast focaccia was delicious - it had cheese, chili crisp, and a hard boiled egg inside. We also added some bacon. I really liked this and it was great to split for a light breakfast snack. They also have other breakfast items and lunch food. There are bookshelves full of used books for sale. The space seems very community-forward and I think I'd be a regular here if I lived nearby.

I saw they also sell wrapped grab 'n go sandwiches, drinks and yogurt parfaits. I didn't see a menu, but apparently they have pastries and breakfast sandwiches. They are also a beer & wine shop retail shop. There are several tables both inside and out to sit and read or socialize. It was a really pleasant atmosphere in the middle of the day. They have shelves of used books for $4.99, alphabetical by author. I found one to purchase. I came back with granddaughter for breakfast, but I wished we had gone to a different place, more of a full service breakfast joint. I had a breakfast wrap and a hot coffee. It was pretty good. The staff were okay, not super friendly.
