Get your hot chocolate/cappuccino machine fixed. Or at least add more syrup. The cocoa I got was like a cup of brown hot water. I had to add my own cocoa powder at home to even make it drinkable. I feel badly leaving this review because Winchell's is like the dead-last place you can get coffee and a donut for under $5 anymore and the people behind the counter are so nice. But seriously, you guys shouldn't be serving brown hot water and trying to make it pass for hot cocoa. New management has significantly improved in quality. Went here recently for their pastrami sandwich and I must say its worth the wait. They really take the time to make your sandwich versus microwaving it for efficiency purposes. I don't mind waiting a little longer to get a better product. This is my go to donut shop. Open around the clock with a full selection of donuts, baked muffins and bear claws. I find the donuts fresh. There is something special about a cake or old fashion donuts. They do not have cereal on them nor jelly beans, just good ol' donuts. I am not sure why people are so mean spirited in their reviews. Horrible customer service. I just wanted a little mayo on the side offered to pay for it or pay for a item. The overnight worker who's always there said okay and said what do you want. I repeated to make sure he understood and he said okay. Charges me for a donut that I don't want then says have a good day. When I asked for the mayo he said there was none. That is a lie because he's put mayo on a sandwich for me before. I told him that then he proceeds to say he has nothing to put it in when there was a bunch of empty sauce containers behind the counter. This Winchell's has a small spot in my heart. I used to live a block away (Collin/Burbank + Reseda) so I used to come here either late-night after work or after a midnight gym session @ the Sherman Oaks 24 or after a late-night @ Little Rock Bar across the street with friends. Anyway... the Winchells glazed donut is amazing fresh out the donut. Have loved it since I was a kid. The Strawberry jelly donuts are on point as well as their cinnamon rolls. The cake sprinkles donuts are good also. I usually see the 40-something year old Mexican guy who works the 10pm-5am shift... baking the donuts in the back... telling me which ones he's got fresh out the oven cooling in the back. One of the worst customer service experiences I've had. This happened minutes ago today 19 Dec 2022 at 10 pm. I ordered two turkey bagel sandwiches once I took a bite and realized it was ham I calmly informed one of the employees that they put the wrong source of protein ; she said no , that I was wrong and needed to purchase a new sándwich if I wanted to get it redone. Plenty of free parking, huge selection that they steadily refill throughout the day and night (24 hours a day!), and a great deal when you order a dozen donuts. We have been to this place many times in the past. It was always an ok donut shop. New owners they advertise. Last 2 times we have been here with the new owners, tonight being the 2nd, old stale donuts. Seriously???? How is that even possible at any donut shop? We've been coming to this location for over 10 years. We come for the French donuts or the apple fritters. They've always been good donuts, good service, no complaints. Today I got a dozen French donuts. They looked fabulous until biting into them. They were raw. I went back to get my money back or replacement donuts. The worker had to call the manager. After several minutes of arguing, she finally agreed to refund my money with the promise that I never come back. Not a problem. Went to get doughnuts their card reader apparently didn't work the lady working was rude and asked if I had cash. Didn't clarify their machine was broken and tossed receipt at me like it was my fault or as if my card declined. I looked at the receipt and it just says transaction canceled. As I open the front door a wave of heat hits me in the face , right away I knew I'd be dropping a sweat being there. I place my order and head over the the tables to take a seat . I hear them calling my order and I proceed to grab it . with an empty stomach I take a bite of my bagel and right away I knew something was off. The cream cheese didn't taste like cream cheese I was confused . I took a sip of my caramel coffee and was upset as well because there was absolutely no flavor what so ever. i had to leave with an empty stomach which was SUPER disappointing ! Winchells do better ! This place is a disappointment to donuts. At least this location is. I patron this place regularly ONLY because I pass by it almost every morning when I'm not driving to work. Such a waste. Poor donuts. They aren't fresh as often as they should be. So purchasing one is going to be a gamble. Best thing on the menu is anything hot. Yikes. This is a donut shop, correct?
