I stop by occasionally for last minute cravings /needs before school. The variety is great, but the service is consistently unpleasant. Each time I've visited, the environment has felt uneasy. I understand they deal with a lot of teenagers, but that shouldn't excuse poor customer service. During my last visit, I watched the cashier answer a ringing phone in the middle of helping an elderly customer, talking over him and seeming irritated when he waited for her to finish. Here's the thing. This Donut shop has gotten a very undeserving amount of love and here's why. Firstly, the donut shop is right next to Birmingham high school, the students get along with the owner. The problem is when you're a regular non student customer. I ordered a croissant with a rude worker who charges for everything. I had a great time talking with him and he has some serious donut-making skills. He makes a donut I've never had before, the tiger tale. It's a combination of chocolate and a regular twist. Not bad! I would stop by here all the time in highschool, and even now, years later, the owners are still super friendly and genuine towards me. The food here can be very tasty. If I remember correctly, there is a bagel sandwich here that I would get often and it was sooo good. The donuts are a good price as well. I think I've had coffee from here once or twice, which was also a good price, but I'm not the biggest fan of the more light roast coffee. It still did the job though! Been coming here throughout the years for donuts/croissants. It is conveniently located at the corner of Balboa and Victory across from the metro lot and has ample parking. My gf used to stop in from time to time when she took the commuter bus to Century City and loved to get their crispy croissants in the morning. The donuts and pastries are always fresh. I was told they need cash and when I said I would prefer to use my credit card, I was told that they "have to" charge me extra for using a credit card. Just in case you haven't noticed we live in the 21st-century where most businesses are happy to have electronic transactions. I Would be happy to pay the extra $.50 if you build that into the price of your merchandise. Stop In has been a regular stop for me and my kids as a reward after a bike ride on the Balboa Park bike path. Love that their cake donuts are not too sweet (ahem, Dunkin) and their frosted are coated perfectly each time. The owner is always super friendly. Went for the first time during COVID and was really happy with how clean it was and how the owner ensure my kids took hand sanitizer and stayed clean :). I have two babies in tow whenever I get donuts so my hands are full- holding a toddler (takes away 1 arm); holding a 6 month old infant (another arm); heavy diaper bag; donuts and coffee.
