One star. Absolutely ridiculous experience at WinCo. I was just trying to check out my groceries in peace at self-checkout when one of the employees--a rude white guy--started making smart remarks for no reason. Instead of being helpful, he had an attitude the whole time like customers were a problem for him. Customer service clearly isn't a priority here. If you're going to have employees monitoring self-checkout, at least make sure they know how to treat people with basic respect. I won't be coming back after that kind of unnecessary disrespect. read more

The chicken strips are much tastier than Chic-Fil-A and much less expensive. Fresh made all day. Tvey have all of your favorite salads at less than half the food stores AND they are fresh. Sliced deli meats are delicious and priced well below the popular feed stores. You just cannot miss this great opportunity to save on great foods. My favorite location is Lewisville, TX. Service and Ambience is excellent and no pressure, you can always find it. It can be busy at standard meal times but then they open more check stands. read more

I've been a loyal customer of this location for MANY years. Over time, I've picked up a few items in the store that were expired and always brought it to the attention of an employee (should a customer really have to do that, or should the store not have expired products for sale in the first place??) before I paid for my IN-DATE items and left. If you choose to shop here, make SURE to check the expiration date on every item that you buy...because if you leave with some outdated product and happen to lose your receipt, you are simply out of luck. My parent purchased an item just last week and took it out today to cook. It was dated 6 WEEKS OLD, so I was asked to exchange it since I was going to Winco to purchase items for the third time this week anyway. I DID NOT ASK FOR A REFUND, SIMPLY AN EXCHANGE FOR THE SAME PRODUCT THAT IS NOT EXPIRED. The manager came over and he said no exchanges without a receipt...period. It seems that this location is okay with selling expired goods. So all in all...I'm not going to spend money there any more based on principle alone, and I spend a lot at this store for my whole family on a weekly basis. WinCo brings back great childhood memories of shopping Food 4 Less as a child - I mean, they even have Shasta!!! I found this location while stopping by our realtors' office. It's easy in and out in Lewisville and offers the same great selection and prices as other stores in the metro. This is the only store where I can find Old Purnells smoked sausage, which is the same brand supplied to Cracker Barrel. Good stuff, great price! read more

On 12/4 I witnessed horrible customer service by Bethany. She rung up an elderly lady who dropped a jar of pasta sauce causing a mess. The lady kept apologizing and was frantic over the mess it caused. Bethany offered NO empathy and clearly was as bothered. Several customers in line consoled the elderly lady while Bethany called for a clean up. The lady continued to apologize and this cashier just continued to scan items without any care for this elder. It was customers who told her everything was alright as other employees came to clean. The other employees also told her everything was okay. I noticed Bethany did not say hello to a single customer or a thank you after paying. I actually had to ask her my total which she mumbled without looking at me. I would brush this off as her having a bad day but I had her as my cashier before and recall her not speaking and seeming like she didn't want to be there. People like her make you think twice about returning. read more

Love this grocery store!! Hands down, would choose this spot over Walmart ANY day. Oh and a side note before saying anything else, it's relatively quiet in there. No added music on top of your typical grocery store hustle and bustle. For those who want less noise, this is your spot. The produce is always stocked and as you swing around the corner you can't help but notice the "Bulk section" of the store. They have everything from cereals, spices, all grains, nuts and snacks. Perfect for whether you need a little of something when cooking for one or a lot of something else when cooking for a group. The prices are always competitive and they have a fairly good selection of meat & seafood as well. The isles are wide, and the floor is always clean. Just a great shopping experience all the way around. If you want variety and fair prices for everyday shopping. This is a great alternative to Walmart down the street. Unlike the typical Kroger or Tom Thumb, there is no need to try catching the latest posted sale to offset overpriced items, because their everyday pricing is already reasonable. Oh... and the best part is, they are open 24 hours! So if you're a night owl or an early bird, you can frequently visit between the hours of 11pm and 7am and truly get your lone star shopping experience in peace. Atrocious customer service. I used to come here every week for groceries, and the staff used to be kind and help me. I recently had an experience today 8/28 at 9:30 pm where an employee screamed at me (Literally), for reaching over a gate to grab a 20-pack of Diet Coke. After I had apologized for the digression (which would have been fine if it had ended there, if not a little rude), he then tried to lecture me and insulted my intelligence. We have been buying groceries from Winco since months (after trying out Walmart and Target). A wide range of groceries, friendly and helpful staff, very reasonable prices and it's 24 hours open. What else do you need from your grocery store? It has this bulk section that has coffees, flours, chocolates, pasta, rice, cereals, dry fruits, candies and lot more. It is great since it gives you the option to buy only the amount of stuff you want. Reduces wastage of food as well as money. Vegetables and fruits are fresh and of good quality. Items are generally priced lower than other stores like Walmart and Target. They have their private label products under the name Winco and Best Choice - which are cheaper than the branded ones but still maintain the base level quality. For essentials like milk, they also have coupons which waive off one milk can (1 gallon) if the groceries purchased exceeds $25. There is a cap of one milk can per trip. They have food items from across cuisines - Asian (Thai and Chinese), Mexican and Italian. With great quality groceries at a very affordable price, it is definitely the place to go for amazing savings. read more

Until a couple weeks ago, I lived within walking distance of this store, and it was my go to store since the day it opened, I believe in 2015. Back then, my daughter used to love browsing the bulk section, and we got to try any number of items that we probably would not have had they been regularly packaged, and in bigger quantity than we wanted. Let's begin with expectations -- if you're looking to throw a dinner party with organic free trade Mediterranean blood oranges and cat poop coffee smothered in Amish cream and Himalayan blackberries, this is not the store for you. WinCo is an everyday, I'm a bachelor who nobody is watching, so yes, I'll down four Red Barron pizzas tonight, and the world won't care kind of place. In the bulk section, I get my pink salt and black peppercorns as regular staples. I also enjoy the bulk spice section for times when I need a smidge of cloves, but don't want to pay McCormick eighty dollars for a packaged tablespoon. The whole bean coffee is a solid choice for the price. It's not gonna hold up to Stump Town, but for one third the price, it curb stomps Folgers and every variety of K-Cup. (Seriously, people. K-Cups are an abomination!) The meat and produce are adequate with good prices. I steer away (pun intended) from purchasing steaks though as I've found more than one instance of deceptive packaging where I bring home what I think is gonna be a two-thirds inch thick ribeye, only to find it's some scrap cut that tapers down to nothing. On the other hand, if you hail from the left coast, they regularly feature tri-tip, and at good prices! Serious win there! The prepared foods in the deli and bakery are not for me. I find them thrown together and not much in the way of flavor. An exception to this is the rotisserie chicken -- a great option, especially if you want to make chicken stock with the bones. I regularly purchase the WinCo store brands for various packaged goods, and find them as good if not better than their brand name siblings. The store brand kettle chips and the peanut butter filled pretzels are particular favorites of mine. Checking out can be arduous. I long ago abandoned the self checkout as I would get "unknown item in bagging area" on EVERY...SINGLE...ITEM...I...TRIED...TO...SCAN. Unlike their Walton family competitors down the street, however, if they notice lines forming at checkout, they'll do the unthinkable -- they'll open more lanes! What is this voodoo? As to the employees, I have only every had pleasant interactions with them. There's something to be said for the employee ownership model of WinCo. Pretty much everybody working there truly cares about their job, the store, and the customers. WinCo will be the biggest thing I miss about living in Lewisville. In fact yesterday, I drove twenty extra miles out of my way on the way home so I could stock up in the Carrolton location. Thank you for nearly eight years of fond memories and full bellies, WinCo of Lewisville! I'll miss you! Super secret pro-tip -- check out the clearance rack in the very back corner of the store. After fighting for my life in the parking lot as well as every single aisle once inside the store, I finally made it to the check out and noticed the self check out had no line. Now I'm normally not a self checkout gal, but I had a pretty bad day, so I pull in and start ringing up my stuff, trying to get out and get back home asap so I could dissociate. Let me reiterate here that there was NO ONE WAITING to check out in the self-check lanes. I don't even get through ringing up ONE thing, and I kid you not, a store clerk suddenly appears right next to me telling me I have more than 15 items and can't use the self checkout. Must've been just watching me walk up and waited to come crack down once I was alreadry ringing up because why not be difficult. I'm like... ok... I'm already here and clearly if I can ring up 15 things I can ring up a couple more without messing it up. I had a pretty empty cart but whatever, so now I am clearly moving towards the regular lanes and THEN! The lady tells me very matter-of-factly that there are signs up saying 15 items only. Got it. Already physically moving away from self check out. She tells me to go have a good day. Same attitude. Just unnecessary and put me in the WORST MOOD. Like dude. I'm GOING. Not even holding anybody up, she's holding ME up. Then I waited in line instead of just ringing out my items, so someone else could ring me up, so I could feel rushed trying to bag my items while some lady and her screaming kids waited behind me. Make sure you are not an idiot like me!! This place takes cash & debit only!!! I tried my credit card no short of 10 times before the cashier came over and clued me in. We came here based on a coupon that seemed almost too good to be true. We ended up leaving the store without any products on said coupon. Most of the stuff I picked up was EXPIRED or within a week of expiration. My husband and I had a great idea: we'd get some chips for our lunches. Great deal. That big bag of 30 was under $10. It was....expiring. There wouldn't be enough time and the chips based on prior experience were well on their way toward expiration if not already there. We ended up getting a 12 pack of squirt at an unbelievable price. I'm not even kidding my husband said they have all been flat - he's gone through at least 5. That being said, they have an insane candy, nuts, coffee section. That's a must see when you are in there. You name it, they have it. Whether or not it's any good, I can't say. I didn't take a chance. Needless to say, we likely won't return for a shopping trip in the future. Prices are great but I'd spend a little more for something not on it's way toward being spoiled. Ok so I've passed by this grocery store for quite sometime now. Have been getting their flyers every week. So I've decided to give it a try. Boy was I happy to stop in. I didn't realize how big this place is and how much stuff they have. Kind of reminds me of Sams club and Costco. They also carry odd stuff that you would usually find in specialty stores. Not to mention, prices are unbelievably low. Makes you wonder "what's the catch"? But there's none. Really. You should try it. The nicest customer service people you'll ever meet. I drove 30 miles one way to check this place out since the one in Garland isn't open yet. I'd never even heard the name Winco before, but thought it'd be worth checking out when a friend went yesterday and liked it. This place BLEW. ME. AWAY! I felt like a kid in a candy store: it was bright and clean, the prices were crazy low (and they even show prices of leading competitors - places I thought had decent prices!). The selection is amazing, and it's mainly name brand stuff I know and like. Their bulk section is totes awesome, and every employee we came across was friendly and helpful. I can't wait for the store near me to open. I will be able to find everything I need here (except for a few bulk items I'll still shop Sam's for, but no more Tom Thumb, Kroger, or Aldi's). I'm not even going to bitch anymore about there not being a Sprouts nearby - Winco will DEFINITELY cut the mustard and I'll be a devoted shopper as soon as they open the new store! The only thing I can think of that might be a negative is organic options. I don't strictly shop organic, and today was my first visit so I was mainly browsing but I can't remember if there were a lot of organic produce if any. I did find "kind" meat products that boasted the animals were treated well/no antibiotics/grass fed, but again, not sure about organic options. read more

Yesterday was my first time shopping there. They had chicken breasts on sale for a Very Good price. Store is bright and laid out pretty good. Great buys in almost every department. The produce had very good sales also. The employees are very friendly and ready to answer your questions. I will add this store to my list of fav's, Aldi and Walmart Supercenter , I check the ad's every week in order to make my food budget give me the best prices. I'm lucky all three store are on Main St. and not far apart. Only con, is bagging your own groceries , I'll watch how much I buy because of this. Prices are awesome, but it really doesn't make sense that they only have one person working at the register at night and even tho the self checkout is open, they don't let you use it if you have more than 15 items. I completely understand if it's during day time hours when it's packed but at 11 at night when there is literally no one using the self checkout and there is only one person at the register you still have to wait for like 4 other people in front of you with a bunch of groceries regardless the self checkout doesn't have a line. In my opinion that's ridiculous. The New Winco in Carrollton is much better than this one. read more

I really like WinCo. Mostly because I appreciate all of the bulk food items. And generally the employees are very attentive and pleasant. But today I was there and there was a guy named Mark working in the produce department. He clearly was happy doing his job and while he was stocking the produce I overheard him explaining to one of his co-workers why he positioned his pallet the way he did. He did so to make sure the customers could easily pass and access the food. He saw me trying to decide which apples I wanted and offered to help. He also suggested I try the nectarines as they were especially flavorful and juicy (I did and they were perfect). I noticed he was equally upbeat and helpful with a couple of others in the short time I was in that area. I rarely write reviews and never before for a grocery store. Ordinarily it wouldn't occur to me to do so. But Mark deserves a bit of recognition because his attitude and his customer service was fantastic! My only hesitation in writing this review is the risk that he gets promoted and he won't be around to help us out in the produce department. Update: Second time has not been as exciting unfortunately. Mold was discovered in all berries i have tried to purchase: blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Will reconsider.
