It's a basic grocery store so there isn't a ton to share that you wouldn't already expect but here goes: Pros: - Prices seem to be cheaper than the competitors, especially sale prices. They post competitor prices so you can see the value - They have bulk food bins which are nice if you don't need a ton of things like herbs, spices, etc. Very large selection of items in the bulk bins. - Store is larger than most grocery stores so selection is really decent. - Nice butcher shop with good selection of cuts. Also fresh seafood in the counter Cons: - You are bagging your own groceries. Not a deal breaker, but 'meh.' - They do not take credit cards, only debit cards or cash. Inconvenient if you are expensing things. - Product selection seems smaller than other stores. read more

Poor customer service. Management does not seem to care about addressing customer concerns. When I called about an issue, I was told the self-checkout attendant couldn't assist customers because they had to keep all of their attention on monitoring self-checkout for theft. Meanwhile, only three or four regular checkout lanes were open, and several employees appeared to be standing around instead of helping customers. It seems there is little emphasis on customer service. If I worked there, I would gladly open another register and treat honest, paying customers the way they deserve to be treated. Good customer service encourages customers to return, and unfortunately, that was not my experience. read more

I have reason to suspect several self check staff are involved in targeting people with cognitive disabilities in a card drafting/ return several times during the pay window. several self-check staff have assisted with the issue, becoming upset at me as if it were my issue. After a few occurrences, I verified with my bank, several drafting & returning in the same amounts had repeated, Winco has no answer for this. The bank recognized this as a scam. In the past, Wilma slipped Claire's earrings into my cart while I scanned. I look the part right WILMA!? she did smile after I handed those back to her. Such a sweetheart! OMG OMG...I'm absolutely obsessed with this store! The prices are beyond reasonable, and the bulk section where you weigh your items by the pound is a total dream. Nuts, candies, chocolates, flour, sugar, wheat...you name it, they've got it! Everything is so clean, super well-stocked, and the staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. My shopping experience was great. The customer service when I checked out, not so great. I had 2 coupons that I had received from work. They were for $25 off of Turkey, ham or vegetables. I chose to use them on vegetables and got $50 worth of veggies. When I go to check out, the cashier tells me that I can only use one coupon. She asks someone else who proceeds to ask someone else. Together they tell me that I can only use 1 per transaction. I said, okay let's just take back $25 worth of veggies and do a separate transaction. They told me I could only use one coupon per day. So, I start pulling $25 worth of vegetables out of my bag to cover the coupon that they wouldn't let me use. After she gives me my total, I realize that It's a little more than I have. So, my 13 year old daughter and I have to dig through all of the bags to find things to return. While we are doing that, the cashier rudely says "see, you wouldn't have had enough money even if we HAD let you use the coupon" It was bad enough that I had to put stuff back and the embarrassment that I felt and people behind me waiting to check out. I felt really uncomfortable and felt that it was uncalled for. I was so tempted to just walk away but, it was getting late and we had been shopping for a long time. So on the 14th I had made a purchase for $69 on my card , well I was charged twice and the money was rejected when they tried to put it back. I came in with receipts and I was told by one manager she would correct it after 24 hours if the money wasn't put back so I literally waited two days worth to see if maybe it would pop up I didn't, the assistant manager Jesse he was kind, but he didn't really care to help me solve the issue but instead gave me the runaround give me another choice but to put my case in review for fraudulent so they will ding the store on the points that they have to receive every single month and this bad is not gonna look good especially if you guys use any kind of cards, be careful and make sure that the money goes back on your card if they have to cancel the transaction because if it doesn't, then you're gonna have to take the route that I'm taking and deal with the assist Manager Jessie and warning he will get very rude with you. I really like the produce section at Winco. They have several items that other grocers do not, such as aloe vera and fresh peeled garlic. I love the candy (and other items) that can be purchased by the pound at good prices. I also noticed they have other items that can't be found in other stores. One of my coworkers had been looking for chitterlings and ham hocks. Told her that I saw them in Winco. Spacious enough and not too crowded. And! Usually go to Layton store. Been to this location a few times. I like Winco because they really do have the best prices. No games or apps, or gimmicks to save money. They have a wide variety of items that you don't see elsewhere. Meat dept. and Produce have better selection, variety and overall better quality than all the others. And it's cheaper!!! Huge plus is bulk dept. seriously you can save huge amounts on spices and items here. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. Sure Harmons and Smiths are nicer looking, but you pay for those at the checkout. read more

WinCo is a super value. I shop there for almost everything. The store is very clean. The staff is very kind and helpful. I'm straining to come up with anything negative to say about the place. That one thing is the ground beef they sell. It's all the"tube" hamburger and it's disgusting as it's full of gristle and sinew. I go elsewhere for ground beef,. WinCo is a unique experience compared to most other grocery stores. Their stores tend to be larger and they have a wider variety of products than most. Winco has an awesome bulk section. If you are looking for staples, seasonings or treats they probably have it in their bulk section and you can probably get it for a better deal than buying a packaged products. The produce, meat, cheese, and deli sections at WinCo are above average. They have a wider selection at better prices. For example, they have at least a half dozen chicken sausage options where most local stores have only a couple. Additionally, I have noted that their Asian and Hispanic sections tend to be larger and have options I am unable to find elsewhere. They are definitely different when you get to the checkout. The two key differences are, they do not take credit cards and you bag your own groceries. Neither are big deals but you have to be prepared. I have gotten to the checkout and realized I couldn't use my credit card and had to scramble for cash, luckily I have had what I needed. Location and the credit card thing makes WinCo a secondary market for me, I do most of my shopping elsewhere and come to Winco when I need bulk items or some unique meat or produce items. read more

Trying to go plastic free and called ahead to be told that they don't allow you to bring your own containers for the bulk food shopping. What's the point if I have to use single use plastics everytime I want to go there? I'm sure it's something to do with people abusing the tare but I'm positive you could find a solution for that like other stores in salt lake do. read more

Rude cashier. Almost every time I come here the cashiers are nice but not this woman she was the rudest cashier I've ever had. She was throwing our stuff, pushing the belt when this very old woman was trying to get her stuff. She was horrible and I hope she's fired. She had bad eyebrows and ugly gray hair too. read more

Good bulk selection. Has a large assortments of bulk coffee if you like to fresh grind your own. They also have a free coffee tasting every day. There are hours to the coffee tasting and unfortunately I don't remember what they are. I believe it's until 10:30 or 11 am though. Great place to get fresh herbs and produce. The bulk section and the produce are the two largest reasons I go there. This place usually sells juice the cheapest of the area as well. Decent selection of groceries overall. read more

They don't even worth one star to be honest! I don't shop from Winco at all. We bought beef patties and when I opened the package it looked different color that normal. I checked the back of the ingredients, it said has beef hearts in that. I immediately took it back and they would not exchange or give my money back!!! The manager I talked to was rude too. The old lady who called the manager was disgusted by the ingredient when I told her but when she was talking to the manager she was totally weird.
