When I moved to this house in 2017 I used this company. I've dug my own hole each time. No worries. This year the price is higher for what I don't know. I get a tech blocking everyone trying to get out for work at 7am I got no heads up on time then he tells me I actually have 2 holes one 4 feet from the other I said that's news to me. He answers me with WELL IM TELLING YOU NOW. Then says the second hole has the filter and it had grease in it (maybe because I've never known about it and their company never told me either) do I want to spend another 250 making it a 700 dollar day to clean it and I said NO. 4 weeks later the panel lights up red with an alarm that my filter had an issue. They did it? They saw it? They never said anything? I hold them accountable. Do not use this place it's a mafia.​ read more

Never use this company ever ever ever. Scheduled clean out. Truck broke down. Scheduled again. Driver sick. Clean out hole/area had less than an inch of soil around opening. Driver shows up and left because the hole (after 3 weeks of waiting) had a small amount of fallen soil around it. Cleaned out soil again. Called for another appointment no call back. 1 month later they cleaned out septic. If you're still reading it actually it gets worse. The driver bent my gate because he couldn't figure out how ro open it and then left sewage on my lawn. read more

I was surprised to see all the bad reviews then realized they are not from my area but other states. I have used Windriver a times and never had a problem. They have never charged me ahead of time for the job. I was worried since 3 years ago the technician told me I needed a whole new system because tree roots had gotten in. I said it can wait til I sell the house. She kept pushing me, saying I shouldn't wait. Well go forward 3 years to 2025 and the technician, Jim T, said the system is fine. Working great. Tree roots are not a problem. Jim was pleasant and easy to work with. He took the time to answer my questions. He thought he was late but he was given completely wrong information from the office. I told the rep on the phone to please come after 8 a.m. and IF possible before 1pm. I also said how to find me since I share a driveway with my front neighbor and can be hard to find. They repeated the information back to me. Unfortunately the only information Jim got was to "come before 1pm". No mention of coming after 8 a.m. and no mention of how to find me. He arrived at 7:15 after passing my house a few times. My daughter needed to go to work at 7:30. He quickly pumped out the system then moved the truck so my daughter could leave. He walked back down the driveway to finish up the job and answer my few questions. I would have given a 5 star review except for the complete lack of information passed on to Jim from the office. If I could give zero stars I would! We had a regularly scheduled pumping an Windriver/Felix came out. We were informed our leach field had failed and we immediately contacted the office to do the test pit. We paid for this service and the day it was done their engineer promptly left for vacation the same day only to not return and start our design for a week and a half. Had we been made aware of this prior we would've hired someone else to do the test pit and design since this only prolonged our already major issue. Instead we were stuck waiting for him as we had already paid close to $3k. We had to have them continuously come out during this time to pump us out since our leach field was just draining back into our tank filling it every couple days. When they had come out for our second pumping (11/16) in 3 days we asked the driver as we had 3 days prior (11/13) as well as 2 years ago (12/6/22) when they pumped what were the two large objects floating in our tank. Two years ago they said they weren't sure and left them be, same thing was said on 11/13. Finally on 11/16 when we asked again the driver got a hook and pulled out both our inlet and outlet baffle. Now had this been addressed when we first questioned it on 12/6/22 we quite possibly wouldn't be in the situation we were currently in with a failed leach field. We've also had 3 of their current employees as well as people we know tell us to run and run fast from this company. Their employees have told us Felix used to be a great company but went down the pipes when Windriver took over. That spoke volumes to us! We have been told of a few stories from said employees how they quote people for jobs, sign a contract and then when all said and done they are charged thousands more than what was told to them. We had been getting quotes and talking to other companies after dealing with Windriver for a week and while waiting for them to get our design to us. Each company that we spoke to had no issues with the trees in our yard being in the way to do the work. Windriver on the other hand told us they were in the way and initially said they would subcontract a tree compnay to come remove them but then later said they themselves could "knock them down" at no cost. These are 80-100' tall pine trees! You can't just "knock them down" especially when they are as close to my home as they are(30-50'). They are also a septic company, not a tree company, no one in their right mind would let them do that job. Finally, each time we spoke to their company we were told contradicting things, timelines, etc. When we had originally spoke to Carlos our main point of contact with them, he stated if we needed anything to give him a call. When we did have an issue we tried to call the office but they were unable to help us, so we contacted Carlos, he said he would call us back but yet never did. We had no choice but to call and speak to Ashley in the office again whom Carlos later said gave us inaccurate information and we should've spoke to him. How can we speak to him if he doesn't call when he says he will, and doesn't return messages that we leave for him? Needless to say we are extremely unhappy with our experience with Windriver/Felix and we will not be going back, we have warned anyone we have spoken to that has not already told us a horror story about Windriver to not use them as well. Our system has been replaced at a much lower cost, by a company that was great to work with, honest and went above and beyond what I would even expect. Oh and was able to navigate our trees with their large equipment with no problems at all and no need to "knock them down" or charge us THOUSANDS more to cut them down. read more

After the last time Wind River pumped my system, I discovered they had only opened one access cover. They had not pumped from that half and had not cleaned the filter - ever. So i called. I was told, instead of correcting the price, I would be given $100 off next time. I called today. The agent said there was no note in the file. Later she called by saying there would be $100 off and the price would be $404. I called a dependable local and he quoted $350 as his standard price. Bye, bye Wind Rover. read more

If I could give a negative review, I would. Wind River Environmental bought out Parent Sanitation. Since they took over, I've had the worse experience. They made a billing error and after 6 months of waiting for someone to call me back, they never do. They still have not refunded the overcharge. They stated I had to pay in advance prior to service. They were quick to overcharge my card and take my money but here 6 months later of being lied to that someone will call me back to discuss the refund on the overcharge and no one ever calls. Last phone call, the rep stated the manager marked my account as resolved ??? Never spoke to a manager, still waiting for my full credit but the manager marked it as completed?!?! read more

My waste pipe was backing up. A Wind River technician inspected it and said the pipe needed to be replaced. The bid I got from Wind River was for over $6,000. That sounded high because it was only about a 20 foot length of pipe from the house to septic tank. I contacted a local company and they did the job for $900. It took 2 men and a small digger only 3 hours to do the job. If I had Wind River do it, I would have been ripped off for over $5,000. I've cancelled all of my services including pumping with them because I can't stand working with a dishonest company. read more

Very fittingly - Wind River's customer service absolutely STINKS. We used this company for nearly 15 years to service our septic and they consistently did a good job. However, they broke one of the covers to our septic system during their most recent cleaning and, despite repeated calls/requests that they fix the issue, they still have not done so three months later. We now have to find another provider. read more

I don't get all the one-star reviews. They must be old. I was referred to WindRiver by a friend who uses them every year. Turns out, they serviced my house even before I moved in, so they knew where everything was, ie, no excess digging. Tim W. was so helpful. After he pumped the cesspool, he offered to add chemicals to continue to keep it clean--and told me the price before adding them. He also advised me on how to keep the pipes from clogging and how often I should have the whole system pumped. I would definitely recommend WindRiver and ask for Tim W. read more

The absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been trying to get my Septic pumped since July and Wind River has made 3 attempts, the third being today, October 1st. First try - the truck broke down. The only reason I knew is because I called when the yard seemed undisturbed and was apologized to for not being contacted. Offered a $50 discount. Ok, understandable so let's try again. Second try - apparently the house I've lived in since 1999 has a tank too close to the gas line and Dig Safe must come out. This has never happened before because clearly I've had it pumped before. But again I only found out when I contacted them. They proceeded to charge me for a Service Call. I contacted them again and was told it would be applied to the pumping that at this point didn't seem as if it would happen. So we waited to hear when we got the green light from Dig Safe. The yard was dug and marked yet no contact from Wind River. We called again and they said they would come out today. Third try - It started with the gentleman telling me I should get a riser for my tank so pumping would be so much easier. $300+. I said that's not happening today so let me know how it goes. He was in the yard for a while then knocked on the door. "Bad news, I can't lift the cover myself and I let my Dispatcher know that it's not safe as a one man job." He was pleasant enough but are you kidding me?!?!! He left me a coupon for a suggested riser and $20 off. Please note he took all this time to dig this hole and then filled it back in. Didn't show me. And we were told by the rep we called that they don't dig more than 6 inches. Did he actually dig down like he said? So why all the run around? Why not just refuse the work?? So the Septic tank I've had for 20 years is now in need of extra work? Nothing has changed. Nothing is broken. This company pumped my tank the last time it was done. Wind River wants me to add something to make their job easier. Its not faulty or unsafe. It needs a $300+ item so they can access it easier. But again I had to call them to tell them what happened. I was told a manager would contact me. In conclusion, they never called me. I called back and was told my refund for the service call was all set. No one would engage the problem or even discuss it. Unacceptable customer service. I believe they were wearing me down so I would just say do the work so it would be done. Weeks of runaround so they can make an extra $300?? They never once contacted me. I always had to contact them and they never knew what was happening. I called the day of cleaning to ask for a window of when they would possibly arrive they told me the driver will text me. Here it is the NEXT DAY!!! and no one ever showed up. NO text! NO phone call! I don't even give them a dot on a star, but I had to do something in order to be allowed to post this They came in January to pump out our septic tank. It's now June and we noticed our septic leaking liquids onto our lawn. Called them for emergency service. The rep asked me if it was clogged or need a pump. Well, that's why I'm calling...im not in this business. However it was just pumped so.... She told me someone would come out and check it out and tell me what needed to be done. i told the customer service rep who sounded as if she was talking from inside a septic tank (speaker phone for customer service is a pet peeve for me- sounds horrific!) that I would not be home and told her it was important she call a different number so I could have my ex husband be there quick. I got a call. I called back and no one knew why I had a missed call from their company. i told this customer service rep the same thing.it's important to call this number- and gave her the number. An hour later I got a call from a tech stating he was at my house. Ummmmm......called WRONG NUMBER AGAIN. When my ex arrived the guy said they said you needed me to clear a clog. No... WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WE NEEDED. He left. Said someone would be back in morning. Meanwhile we look at the invoice emailed to me - we were getting charged for their gas mileage??? and all these other sketchy charges. I called Wind River to cancel and my ex did as well 10 min before me. When I called they had no record of my ex calling To cancel and the service call was still in?!?!?!?!? I'm sorry- but they really need to get their shit together, no pun intended!! Had a company from Millbury come, the guy said in January, all Wind River did was pump out the liquids. That there was years of solids in there. I PAID A GRAND IN JANUARY FOR IT A L L TO BE EMPTIED. He also said he didn't care if we used them again, but that we should never use Wind River again and he wasn't surprised they did this. I will pump it out myself before EVER calling Wind River again. I found the water drained kind of sluggish one day and called a plumber to investigate what seems to be the problem, he pointed out the main pipe going into the septic was full of water and I definitely need to call my septic company. As a customer since I bought my house three years ago, thought Windriver probably know my house's septic system the best. Called the first thing in the morning at 7 am, they scheduled me for emergency service without providing a time frame and had to pay upfront which was understandable but later on that day when I called them late afternoon to find out the status of the service, they told me usually the emergency service will be the last stop of their tech's route. Mmm....it would be nice if I was told that when I called in early morning so I won't sit at my house whole day and took a day off from work. The tech finally arrived and found the filter was clogged and he cleared it out, pumped the tank and claimed everything was good to go, felt relief and retired for the night. Next morning, on my way to work and my wife called me and said the water was backing up to the house....WHAT?!! Called Windriver and only being told I had to schedule another emergency service for them to send the tech to do more investigate (isn't that suppose to be done in the first place) for another $800 on top of the $700 I paid the day before. First, it really doesn't make sense I have to pay more because your tech didn't take care the problem in the first place. I called for septic service.... 3 times they came to pump and could not 2 times there came to put a riser and did not My tank did not need a riser but I was invoiced and I paid $500 for a riser because they insisted I did! I have used Wind River Environmental for several years and have had no problem in their service and generally they are professional, but this time they dropped the ball. I scheduled an appointment on-line, but was NOT given an estimate of time for the appointment. I emailed them with about when to expect them. They just say the tech "will call when on his way", so I had to wait all day starting at 8am. By 3pm, I sent an email (since their email confirmation had NO phone number) inquiring about the appointment since no one has called or texted me by then. I did get a prompt response from customer service confirming I had a late afternoon appointment (note: if they knew that, why didn't they tell me) and their tech will "call when he is on his way". At 5;05, I get a message from the tech saying he's run out of time and will NOT be there (even after I was assured he would be - and didn't he know before 5 PM that he wouldn't make it?). It is just courteous to let clients know approximately when they can expect service (just am or pm would do), but I did not get that when I set up the appointment, when I asked for a time, or when I inquired about the lateness. I'm sure the actual service will be fine, but they were inconsiderate on the customer service end and I was very disappointed since I will now have to waste another day waiting for them. read more

I have had two visits from Mr. Tony of Windriver Environmental. On the first job, I also had the pleasure in working with James, the Project Manager. I had a complete plumbing failure in a new rental home that was purchased and renovated just before my lease started. Tony arrived early on the work day, and was making follow-up contact with the equipment and county utilities (complete dig out!). It was a Monday, following a holiday. You see, it had been raining all week prior and a big storm was moving in again, quick. The company wanted to reschedule, but Mr. Tony knew he could complete the work if everyone was on the same card. I had been out of water for 8 days now. A delay in repairs would put me at the end of the week, for service. When I say that this man worked his butt off, I mean... laser focus. We were fighting the clock and he hand dug my yard until the machine arrived. There were mother nature job complications and a few rain sprinkles, but we finished that job as the monsoon thunderstorms were rolling in. Unfortunately, for me... I had a 'non-replaced' drainage line with a clog discovered. Mr. Tony waited, in his truck, for the storm to take a dry break and he discovered my other issue and fixed it fast! The second time Mr. Tony came was yesterday and the bathroom plumbing needed repairs. The renovators of this house may be one of those people that do half-ass, cheap work and then make big money if they play the game right and sell it to one of you excited home buyers.When it came to plumbing? Mr. Tony delivered! He identified the issue, reviewed the repairs, completed work in great time, and wrote a detailed/accurate invoice. Please note, the pricing for my jobs was not the cheapest in town nor the most expensive. I definitely think you get what you pay for and more from this team. I would highly recommend Windriver Environmental for your plumbing needs. I hope you work with Tony. He is was a 2X great example of customer service. read more

I just recently moved into a new house and Wind River told me that the previous owners had clogged the septic so much with wipes that the only solution was to pay $3000 for a vactor truck to come clean it out. I had a second opinion come in and found out that while it would be a little more than a typical septic pump - the tank could be cleaned and pumped for less than $500. Needless to say I am putting a call into the better business bureau so other people don't get SCAMMED by this company. read more

On Saturday, we called Wind River 978-281-7867 for emergency service and was told a tech could be at our home some time that day for $750 or the following Wednesday for $450. Since we were going away for Memorial Day - we confirmed for Wednesday. Tuesday evening I called 978-281-7867 for an ETA for the following day and was told to call in the AM since service is from 8am-5pm. At 9AM, I called Wind River, was put on a very long hold and was then I was told they would need to reschedule service to next week due to an nationwide emergency (that she couldn't tell me what it was). I said I have NO toilet, shower, or water - why didn't anyone call me. The CSR put me on hold again to speak with her supervisor but the result was the same NO appointment until NEXT week. I asked why no one had called me and was told they are calling people now on their list. I should have taken the advice of prior YELPs who said this company is a disgrace !!! read more

Called Wind River to schedule an inspection and was given different answers from each person I talked to as to how to proceed, this inspection was for the close of a house and we were up against a timeline. On the fourth call I after getting an idea of what they were going to ask and having everything ready on my end based on what I had been told I asked if there was anyway to expedite the call back from the "local" technician since we had lost 4 days in calls to figure this out and I was very rudely told that this was "my fault" and I may not even get a call back till after the weekend. I then asked to assure that Wind River and A1 were the same company now so I would know not to take use them for anything. btw it is after the 48hr window for a technical to call and I still have not received a phone call. I can't comment on the local technician and experience there but this company lost me way before that process. read more

2nd time I used them, with the same guy as last year. I don't like the way they treated us because our system is old and is now having a problem, after all of this rain, all I hear is you need a new system. I tried asking about the fact that the ground water is extremely high, etc , could that be doing it ? No, if that's the case, then I'd be at that house, and that house, and that house (as he points to the other houses on the street). I'm sorry, but every situation is different, and he may say he has no interest in selling me a new system, but was quick to recommend a company, or let's throw a bunch of peroxide down there, that may help it may not, btw it's $1700 for that and you'll probably need a new system anyways...... I am getting second and third opinions, because it may be the drainfield issue, it could be a # of things, hard to say, all this rain isn't helping.. After they pumped it out that day, i could hear water dripping in slowly, we then got another 2 inches of rain and the thing filled back up over the inlet/outlets again... I have a real septic engineer coming to look at it.... I don't appreciate being talked down to.. I found a local company to pump it the next time I need it.... read more

I had called them to clean the system. After cleaning, the tech called me . and never told me that the Filter is missing. and is more worried about the Bacteria stuff to put it in and wants to make money just by selling his Bacteria stuff, on a very high price. So I told him just to add it in. Filter missing he never told me, which is so important. I would like to know why ? We used wind River for 12 years for pumping. Went to sell and title five was handled incompetently. Initially set up an appointment for two weeks out. Requested I get all kinds of documents from the town. They made an error on scheduling dig safe and then pushed title V out for three weeks without any notification and stated they couldn't reschedule and a manager might be able to get back to me by the end of the day. Found a different company that was super flexible, professional and 1/4 of the price and didn't require or charge thousands for documents I didn't need. Will never use Wind River again! Save yourself money and headache and find someone else! read more

I am in the process of selling my house and learned that my septic system should have been pumped from 2 access points. Wind River has been servicing my septic tank for 25 years and never once noted there were 2 access points, they only pumped from 1 access point never mentioning the other access point. But an inspector for my buyer said it was obvious and in the town records that there were 2 access points, and it was necessary to access both as you cancan out both sides from one access point. Not good when a company specializes in something and doesn't know the basics. Very disappointed in Wind River Environmental. read more

Extremely poor customer service. I have been using them for 11 years now and I am assuming they have a lot of customers now because they do not try to retain your business. I scheduled 3 times online for a pump and got a message that someone will be in touch with a date and time and nothing. I called and scheduled a visit and waited all day and no show. When I called I had a weak apology and was told someone will get back to me and never did until I call back and got a date rescheduled for the following week. Everyone I called in the office act like they did not need me as a customer and instead stated that he understands if I want to go to another company. The stars are only for the technicians cause they save the company, they are the only ones that actually are professional and care. The driver left without ringing the doorbell or calling, I was home. They told the dispatcher they couldn't locate the septic tank to pump it. I know exactly where the tank is and where to dig, had they bothered to speak to me the tank would have been pumped. I also told them where the tank was when I made the appointment. I called the company, they scheduled again for the next day which was a Friday. They said late afternoon, when nobody showed up by 4:30 pm I called to see if they were still coming and was told yes and that dispatch would call me soon with an ETA. Dispatch called shortly after and hung-up when I answered, I heard someone on the phone just before it hung up. I called Dispatch back and was told they were never scheduled to come out that day (after receiving a confirmation text the night before and a different person told me 20 minutes earlier I was scheduled) and that they rescheduled for the next Wednesday. I never received a confirmation text for the new Wednesday appointment like I did with the first two appointments, based on that and this entire experience I have no faith they are going to show up on Wednesday. I will update this review then and either leave it at that or begin trashing this company on every available review site and social media page. Completely incompetent. We used them ONCE to clean out our septic tank in Massachusettes about 8 years ago. We moved to California shortly after. I don't think they did a great job, but we sold the house right away so I'm not sure. They call and harass us CONSTANTLY to have our septic tank cleaned out, even 8 years later. I have told them over and over again to stop calling me, and that we no longer live there, but they will not stop. Next time I will be pressing charges. read more
