I've been with Windam animal hospital for the past 21 years and I recently transferred to another veterinarian. They have gone corporate and all they care about is money. I've been going there for the last 11 years with my current dog and they treated her with nothing but disrespect. Some doctors are rude and all they care about is money and satisfying corporate with as much as they can make. My recommendation is not to go there. There's so many other veterinarians that love animals. Windam just lost their way they used to care but not anymore. They look for ways to get as much money out of you as possible and their techs are inadequate. Please don't contribute to this money making machine there's so many other better places to go that truly treat your pets like they were your kids. I'm happy now where I'm at. My dog is treated with the respect that she deserves and I will never let her down. When I transferred my dogs records they said they would call me when the transfer was complete they never did because they don't care and it took the new veterinarian multiple phone calls to get the records. Again because they don't care. After 21 years of going their and being a long time customer they didn't even try to resolve any issues. Again if I haven't said it enough they don't care. I brought in my perfectly healthy dog Reuben to Windham Animal Hospital for routine shots and nail clippings...he was misbehaving (nipping) so they took him out back to administer the shots and clip his nails saying some dogs behave better away from their owners...the veterinarian Dr. Elizabeth Sullivan and I had spoken about his stress level during his initial exam and the last thing she said before she left was "this might not get done because safety is our number one concern"...she returned to say reuben had collapsed...a short time later he died...his safety was clearly not a top priority of Dr. Sullivan or the hospital...a trained professional should never have let his stress level get to the point of him collapsing and dying..especially under the most routine procedures....all this while my five year old son and I sat in the very next room...she told us after his death that he was "extremely agitated and stressed" in the events leading up to his death...the next day I called to request some more information because this situation obviously wasn't sitting well with us...about two hours after I called to request the information I received a voicemail from Dr. Sullivan expressing her condolences and said she meant to contact us earlier in the day.. then she went on to describe a completely different set of circumstances in the events leading up to Reuben's death than she gave the day before...and obviously this second story was much easier on her and the hospital saying it basically came out of nowhere...which isn't true...she left the room with him because of his stress level and behavior...we had talked about it at length... and she was clearly backtracking to provide some cover for herself after I had called to request some information which I'm sure she didn't like hearing. Thats not all.... A year prior our other dog Ernie had ruptured his anal glands...the vet dealing with him at the time Dr. Salkovich (not sure of the spelling) recommended two expensive procedures to fix it...when they didn't work he recommended an extremely expensive surgery to fix the problem once and for all...a year later the problem returned...exact same issue in the exact same spot...we went back to the hospital to have it checked by Dr. Sullivan mentioned above (this is the day Reuben died if you're wondering why I went back)...she insisted it was only a hot spot and treated it as such....two weeks later the issue returned and we brought Ernie to our new vet....the new vet thought their was still anal gland tissue left over from the surgery done at windham animal hospital.....he recommended I see a specialist to get the remaining tissue left by Dr. Slakovich in the first surgery removed...This surgery cost twice as much because it was exploratory to begin then tissue removal...we got it done and the specialist said there was a large amount of tissue left over that Dr. Salkovich missed during the original surgery...the original surgery was clearly not done properly These are two awful experiences we have had at the Windham Animal Hospital in three short years...the staff is incompetent and dishonest...if you really care about your pets safety the Windham Animal Hospital should be avoided at all costs read more

First visit, so far so good. Friendly, courteous, open and knowledgeable staff and doctor that I've met so far. Not a fan of waiting in hot, windowless exam rooms but you can't have everything, it's understandable and it's no different at other vets for whatever reason. In a perfect world a seasonal street light identifying the first north bound end of the street would be nice, but I'm extremely picky. I will highly recommend this animal hospital. read more

I have been taking my 3 cats to this hospital for 8 years and have the utmost respect for thier office and veterinary staff. I have 3 rescue cats from SARL and they were all treated by the vets in this hospital before their adoptions so I kept with the best. I usually take my indoor cats every 2 years for a check up and vaccinations but this year one of my cats a Maine coon, Isabella who I thought was having hairball issues ended up having either COPD or lung cancer. The x-rays showed a white film over the lungs and after some medication, time and another round of x-rays I was told she had just months to live. My poor baby was getting weaker and upon seeing her start to lose her appetite we decided to bring her in to go over the rainbow bridge. While it was heart wrenching the staff was wonderful and loving right until the end. They were very patient with my husband and I during the process and even sent a card several weeks later to express their sympathies. I will always bring my pets to this loving office. read more

Windham Animal Hospital is the absolute best. Dr. Sullivan cared for my yellow lab for 13 years and Dr. Pearson is still caring for my 15 year old cat! Both doctors are wonderful. Extremely caring and concerned for my pets' well-being and truly great at what they do. Dr. Sullivan spent over an hour with my family when we had to make the dreaded decision to put our beautiful girl down - The entire practice was closed by the time we left, but we never felt rushed. She gave us so much time to think and gave us truly amazing advice. Dr. Pearson has spent years dealing with my difficult cat who HATES pills and any type of treatment. Not only does Pearson handle her with such grace and understanding, but it's as if she doesn't hold my cat's bad attitude against her. She takes great precautions in every diagnosis and treatment and always keeps in mind her preferences (liquids, no pills!). Last year when my cat got sick and again last month when my dog was sick - both times, Sullivan and Pearson called to check in with each pet a few days later. You will never find a better animal team. They are also very cost conscious and often try to bundle services together to save me money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and 15 years of experience to back it up. read more

I brought my dog here for a spay. Drop off was scheduled for the night before and I was told three times on the phone prior that she would be the last dog in the office for the day. I get there and it's not clear where you enter if you've never been, we entered in the door that seemed would be an entrance and got reemed out by a person at the desk I said "sorry, we've never been here before and didn't know where to go" she said in a very rude way, "you walk around the building!!" Then points to a 'half' door and says "WELL.... go through there so we can help you!" We go through, my 12 yr old and 3 yr old girls are with my dog.... I'm filling out paperwork when a large dog enters, I'm busy filling paperwork out and assuming it was a HUMAN entering given inwas told id be the last visitor, I didn't think to stop my 3 yr old from going to say hi to the dog which at that point my dog became curious and she is very friendly and went over to smell the dog. Immediately once I realized that my daughter had gone over to a dog I grab my daughter's hand and guide her away the woman behind the desk talk to reprimanding me that my "kid should know better than to approach a dog thats not hers and the dog is nervous enough and that kid didn't help!!" The guy that brought the dog in apologized as he seemed a bit surprised at the woman's reaction as well! I turn to the woman and I said, " I was told I would have the last dog in the office at her time of drop off due to the office not being familiar with her because she was a new patient and only there for a spay" as I was explaining to her she rolled her eyes and walked away. So the following day I was told to call at 1:30 to check on her status as she was supposed to be done first thing in the morning and ready for pick up by 2... they put me on hold for 15 minutes only to tell me that my dog had never even been looked at and then at 2:30 I get a phone call saying that my dog is ready to be picked up! She had surgery woke up from anesthesia and then immediately sent her home... she could barely walk in wasn't eating or drinking anything at all! I am so furious with the way they treated my family to begin with but to send my dog home 1 hour or less after she had just been opened up and had parts removed! I'm glad she only went there for a spay because I would never bring my worst enemy to this place. I will stick with Banfield Animal Hospital for everything else because they are absolutely amazing read more
