Honestly the more often I am seen here the more I love it…read more I recently was suffering from a bronchial flu. Like a hideous combo of bronchitis and the flu. I had been in bed for two days and was due back at work but knew I couldn't make it thru an hour of it so I drove to the hospital. It's early afternoon on a Thursday and they had a 3 hour wait in the ER. Well I was absolutely too sick to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours- and that's just to get to step one. So I got back in my car and called Maine Med family practice and found out that they do have urgent care so I could be seen that day at a designated time just by a different doctor- but one with my records on hand. So much better . Seriously unless it's 3am and I'm in an accident I would ALWAYS prefer to just use my urgent care!! So today I had my physical. I received 3 vaccinations and was totally happy to realize the importance of having a regular doctor at a decent hospital. Going over the paperwork they gave me while there I realized that in the last few months they had amassed my entire medical history. I lived seeing shots I received in 1988. I don't have to remember that my Tetanus was due this year. They reminded me. Maybe it cuz I'm from a big city in California but insurance for me there always meant ER visits or clinic visits. Never this personalized care. They called me to set up the appt for my yearly physical. I didn't have to remember. Gotta love that. One less thing on the calendar to set reminders for.

Dr. Kazimierczak is phenomenal. I have seen him on many occasions for somewhat strange occurrences…read moreand he has nailed every single diagnosis. Not only that, but he is patient and super sweet. I never feel rushed when I see him and he always answers my questions and then some. I can't say, however, that I like the rest of this practice. The front end staff have been rude on more than one occasion and difficult when trying to make appointments. They are especially difficult when calling to speak with a nurse. They act like they are doctors and you are bothering them. I'm also not a huge fan of the other doctors and NP's who work here. Kathleen McKeon is quite standoffish and quick to get you out the door. Dr. Kim, who I have had to see a few times when my doctor was unavailable was the worst. Every appointment with her was a complete waste of time, with no resolution or answers. She refuses to give a referral to a specialist even though she can't figure out a diagnosis. She wasted months of my time when I had an urgent circulatory matter (a blood clot) that actually required an emergent CT scan with IV contrast. I didn't know it at the time, when I went to see her that it was a blood clot. Only after going to a quick care and getting a referral to a vascular surgeon was I told what it was. I will never take an appointment with her again and if you have anything out of the ordinary going on, I recommend you see another doctor. Would rate this practice lower, but I really love Dr Kazimierczak!

I hate leaving bad reviews, however this practice warrants one. My husband has been a patient here…read morefor less than 6 months and every single time he has had an encounter with this practice something has gone wrong. Today is the 4th issue - he's feeling quite ill and needs a chest X-ray. He was seen in office yesterday afternoon and went to hospital today to get chest X-ray as requested. We spent over 2 hours waiting for the orders (which should have been sent yesterday!!), no orders ever arrived. We finally gave up and left. I called Gray Family Medicine and spoke with Veronica. No apology, no explanation. Veronica told me, rather boldly "maybe you should find another provider". I'm sorry, what?? I have been an RN for over 30 years - this is not appropriate health care. My husband is ill right now and needs competent help. Not a terrible attitude from Veronica. Rest assured we will be looking for another provider. In the meantime, maybe Gray Family Healthcare should provide actual appropriate healthcare for their patients and not be rude and unapologetic when they are in the wrong. Judging from the majority of these reviews, I am not the only person who has been treated quite badly by this practice.

I am kind of stunned to find such a negative review of this doctor here. Dr. Larson was my doctor…read morefor about 2 years when I was a professor living in Portland and I found her medical care to be excellent. I saw her on at least 5 occasions, and each time, I found her staff professional and pleasant. During examinations, she answered all of my questions thoughtfully, and I found her very personable in her interactions with me. Dr. Larson's style of care I would describe as non-interventionist and holistic: she was not eager to prescribe medications for every little thing, and she asked me a lot of questions not just about specific ailments but about my broader health and well-being. I wish I had written a review before I moved away from Portland since I would remember more specific details, but I truly miss her medical care and expertise. I found her superbly professional and knowledgeable. And this is a more minor issue, but I found the fact that her offices are located in the ground floor of a building that was formerly a large home very comforting. The examination rooms were all properly clinical, certainly, but the rooms had real furniture and were warm and comfortable. In some ways this felt like visiting a traditional family doctor. Medical care has become, if anything, too impersonal and clinical. I really appreciated how Dr. Larson took care to create an environment for her patients that felt more like a welcoming space for her practice. I really can't recommend her highly enough.

I know that everyone has their own tastes when it comes to personal care, but do yourself a favor…read moreand don't use this woman as your doctor. I've had a number of bad doctor experiences over the years, but this was by far the worst. Dr. Larson was recommended to me when I first moved to the Portland area and didn't know where to start when it came to finding a doctor. I've been lucky enough to stay pretty healthy over the past few years, so I didn't have to see her often, but I don't think there was ever a time I walked out of her office thinking 'Wow, I'm so glad this woman is my health care provider.' The straw that broke this camel's back was a recent experience over the 4th of July holiday. I called the office on the 4th (which was a Thursday) and left a message, acknowledging the holiday and asking to please be called ASAP. I did not get a call until the following Wednesday, which is an eternity later when you're sick. The other staff her is generally uninterested and slightly unpleasant, and when I signed up for their online services I started getting spam emails and phone calls. In the time that I used Dr. Larson as my physician, she referred me to an incompetent ENT who retired a few weeks after seeing me (so glad I trusted my gut and got out of there before engaging in procedures that would have needed months of follow up). Maybe we're getting too personal now, but my point is that this was the worst doctor I've ever been to, and people shouldn't have to suffer through mediocre health care, especially when there are awesome doctors out there (and it's not like we don't pay for the visits).

Dr. Alvarez is very professional, nice, and really listens to your problems and concerns. I can't say for the other doctors there because I've only seen Dr. Alvarez. Kathy, one of many medical assistant at that practice, is so sweet and professional. The front desk staff as a whole are nice, but there's one receptionist that needs to work on her attitude. Every time I've checked in with her, she's just very snippy. Maybe she's having a bad day, but I've checked in with her more than five times so I'm not so sure. However, don't let that deter you because the care there is exceptional and they'll do whatever they can to facilitate your needs. If you are a Mercy patient, sign up with Follow My Health. All you have to do is ask the front desk receptionist to get you signed up. Once you do that, there's an app on your mobile device that is free to download and it's super convenient.
