Came here on a Saturday as a guest of a member. They don't provide any free trials/guest memberships I guess. The gym was spacious, included an indoor/outdoor pool & waterpark, had a bag area, and plenty of machines and weights. Their facility was clean and did not appear crowded. They close at 6 pm on Sat, which is not something I am used to. My gym in Ca closes at 11pm on Sat & 10 pm on Sundays. read more

Great staff, clean and spacious, good value if you use it! Love the natural light and family-atmosphere. Lots of workout machines, idk what they do, but they seem useful. Gets very busy, I like that it's all ages. My only 3 complaints are: 1. The randoms who watch their soap operas or whatever without headphones which adds unnecessarily to the noise level (the workout music is already too loud). People, if you bring your granny, buy her a headset. We have stuff we want to listen to, not her stuff. I'm a granny too, but I don't act like I'm the only person in the world. 2. Also people. Pipe down if you are on the phone. Nobody wants to hear your business. Keep it down Boss Baby, nobody cares you are working at the gym. 3. The hours are meh. It needs to be open longer on the weekend. How am I supposed to work out when I don't even get done running errands until 6? read more

Horribly run by upper management. Blair Schuyler is incompetent and only looks to cover his own behind. My experience led to me quitting this gym, and it is entirely management's fault for it. I was suspended twice for zero rule violations One day, I was working out and doing 4 sets of 15 barbell curls. On the very last rep of the very last set, I felt a shot of pain in my arm and let go and dropped the bar back into the starting position while screaming out an expletive in response. There were 2 staff members present within 10 feet of me. Neither said anything to me or attempted to correct my behavior as I walked off. One of them even laughed about it. A little over a week later, I get a call from Gavin at Member Services about how "we have a couple complaints from employees on how you're dropping weights and yelling profanity". When I asked how they could have possibly narrowed me down, they said "we went back and reviewed gym footage and checked all our members and it was you" Immediately, I was disgusted by the staff going behind my back instead of addressing policy violations to me directly at the time they occurred, as anyone would be. I was even more disgusted with "reviewing footage" over a single time of dropping a weight. So I said "sounds like the gym staff are being pussies and not doing their jobs". This made him angry enough at me to report what I had said to Blair, who in turn suspended me for 30 days out of spite of the language I had used on the phone with Gavin. I appealed this suspension immediately and won on the basis of no violation of the rules being present About a week after I had been back at the gym, I was there when I saw my ex friend talking to someone. About 10 mins later, I casually introduced myself to the other person and asked if he was friends with him. He said "no, he just tries to talk to me all the time". I told him some of my friend's history and said that he didn't have to talk to him if he didn't want to. We laughed about it. Conversation lasted 5 minutes and I left cordially. The person I talked to did not complain. My ex friend saw this from about 40-50 feet away and convinced the person who he was with to write a complaint on me. 2 days later, I get a call from Gavin about the complaints The gym then forces a meeting with me about it. How did I find out? Because I came in for a workout one day, checked in, and walked upstairs with no issues. 25 mins later, a staff member comes onto the floor and tells me that I can't be there until the meeting. I tell her I'm not suspended and she says that it doesn't matter. So I tell her that I thought there was a mistake because her front desk employee made no attempt to stop me. Her response? "Yeah, we purposely make them let you go by so that I can handle it more effectively". According to her, any random person can just be in the gym for 25 minutes and nobody can kick them out except upper management The meeting could have gone well but didn't. I told Gavin about how I was being treated unfairly, provided the facts of the situation, and reiterated that I never broke a single gym policy. Gavin tried to help me with Blair when he showed up to the meeting later on, but it didn't matter. Blair ignored the facts and threatened me that I was on the verge of a long term suspension because "this wasn't my first time". Keep in mind, I had never broken a single rule at this facility. Blair kept referencing "we just want this to be a family friendly place, I don't want one of your ex friend's friends coming up to you and starting a physical confrontation". Yet he failed to point out how having a conversation with a gym member violated any part of the code of conduct (whereas hitting someone in the gym would, which of course he left out) He claimed that me having the conversation with that person was "a weird form of instigating" and "bullying", despite the fact that my ex friend obviously knew NOTHING about what me and that person talked about. Even if he did, there is no policy that I broke by having a conversation with a gym member. Anyone can be complained on, but without any evidence of breaking the rules, it's pretty tough to punish that person. That didn't stop Blair from giving another 30 day suspension anyways. When they called to inform me about it, I threatened to quit the gym on the spot. Gavin tried to tell me "look you can just come back and this will be swept under the rug", and I did not care. I took it personally, as I should be. And as soon as it was over, I cancelled my membership. I filed a complaint on Blair with City of Frisco. They cost themselves with their over policing. I absolutely love this gym. I've been a member for the last 3 years, and the facility and equipment continue to get better every year. First off, the gym is HUGE, and it offers two levels of everything you need to get the kind of workout you're looking for. They offer a variety of classes such as yoga, spinning, aerobics and more. I have not taken a class yet, but I'm planning on it soon. I'll post an update once I do. The entire facility is very clean, and the staff is helpful when you need them. I take my son to the child care facility frequently, and he always has a great time meeting new kids and playing games. Lastly, if you're looking to get some laps in, or just relax in the water, they have several indoor swimming pools, as well as a seasonal outdoor waterpark.   The facility offers so much more to see and do. I highly recommend this facility for all of your fitness and recreational needs. read more

This used to be a great gym. Still love the water park, but the gym is horrible on the week days after work. Everyone "saving" equipment, but not using it, with no oversight from the staff. Today I saw people "laying" on their saved equipment watching videos, one was reading. lol. That's far beyond a recovery between reps. We will try one of any other gyms near by after 10 years of membership. read more

Average place to workout or play at the outdoor water park. Staff doesn't monitor weight areas and equipment is often left lying around. Children starting at 12 allowed upstairs and sometimes are up there unattended. It is allowed for kids over 13 to be here without adults. This, on the exercise floor leads to chaos and large groups of teens "hanging out" in the middle of workout areas and equipment. It isn't rare to see people doing things that harm themselves or the equipment. The outdoor water park is fun, but small. Sometimes they check the kids heights well and other times they don't. Sometimes they check bags and sometimes (today was the first time in five years!) they don't. There are often small children left unattended in the lazy river and on large slides, etc. read more

I just wanted to come back and write an update about FAC during the COVID times. I want to commend FAC for taking the necessary and precautious steps in handling our current COVID 19 situation. When I tell you I felt extremely safe, I MEAN IT. They are going the nine miles in preventing the spread of the virus. From having limited capacity in the gym, to having people signup to reserve a spot, mandatory masks and gloves, constant cleaning of machines by staff and social distancing. I just wanted to go out of my way to thank FAC because I have been calling and hearing stories of different Gyms around the area and do not see them taking the situation seriously, a lot of them have not been deep cleaning like FAC or requiring mandatory masks/gloves/having limited capacity. This is the place to shop if you want to feel safe! Also I came back here after a year of being gone, and they have updated squat racks, new blocks instead of steppers (which I loved, sturdier and more durable), and they have "jungle gym" (I honestly dont know what its called) set up inside. read more

Transferred to FAC from Cowboy Fit. Better price, parking and hours. It has everything you need in a gym and TVs are everywhere and stations you want to watch. The facility is clean and all machines are in working order. Also, optional lockers for rent, nice touch. Towels are always clean, folded and available by the machines. I will be back ! read more

Staff are consistently closing the lap pool early for "maintenance issues." Funny how it seems to be mostly Friday and Saturday night. Just close it earlier and post accurate hours if you don't have adequate staffing to stay open to 530. read more

The Frisco Athletic center is very large and spacious. The center offers day passes and memberships for reasonable prices. The center offers a number of activities such as indoor basketball, workout gyms, & an indoor and outdoor waterpark and swimming pool. The center is clean and wasn't crowded. read more

FAC is a really nice rec center. It's big, clean, has a lot of different amenities and doesn't get too too busy. It's a great value if you live or work in Frisco. If you're looking for a place to swim and workout, IMO it's a much better option relative to a mid-scale chain gym like Lifetime or LA Fitness. It is very family oriented, so be prepared for that difference. There are a fair number of middle and high school students working out together in the fitness area. I haven't seen any obnoxious behavior, FWIW. The facility itself is huge. The fitness area has probably 100 or more different cardio machines (treadmills, various flavors of elliptical machines, bikes, stairsteppers etc), a boxing area with ~6 bags and various stuff, probably another 100 weight machines and a free weight area that's ~4k sqft (I think). There are also 3 large rooms for group classes, 2 full size gyms, 2 raquetball courts, and a daycare area. I joined for the pool - there's a pretty big indoor area with a big slide, different areas for small children and 4 lap lanes. There's also a mini water park outside in the summer. I swim in the lap lanes on the weekend and there's never been more than 2 people per lane. The staff is mostly on the younger side, but all have been knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and polite. FWIW I have had strange experiences in the parking lot (of all places). I drive an old beater car with California plates (I am a Texas native, not that it matters). Some weirdo keeps leaving political messages on my car, referencing my CA plates. No, I don't have any bumper stickers / decals / giant flags on my '03 2-door Toyota that might invite conversation. I mentioned it to the front desk staff, and they said, "Oh, it's because the cops aren't out there today." 0_0 . Apparently it goes down in the parking lot. I like the gym, but I don't like the feeling of being watched / surveilled by some nut. Thankfully it's usually pretty busy, so it's probably safe, but I wouldn't feel comfortable here after dark. read more

Went to celebrate my daughter's birthday at the waterpark, Although she had a fantastic time. The staffing is primarily kids or teenagers that are extremely rude, not welcoming, and lacks customer service skills. One young lady that seemed to be mixed with black and Asian was extremely rude and another who wore black and orange shades was also rude. If you don't like your job or love what you're doing, simply find someplace else to work or don't work at all. On to parking, the parking is horrible and for this place to have soo many parts to it should do a better jon accommodating visitors. Horrible but not a deal breaker. just get there early. Safety, none of our bags or coolers were checked at the gate leading into the waterpark erea. This is a huge safety concern, as the day went on and a we sat next to a rowdy group who IMO should have been asked to leave changed the atmosphere with their yelling and lack of home training. read more

Review is for a bday party at the swimming pool in fall. Good price: for members $250 for 24 people (adults and kids), $300 for non-member. Price includes 3 large pizza with one topping, drinks, utensils, plates, napkins, 1.5 hour party room rental, and a bday banner. They don't accept tips (a big bonus since almost all bday places slap you with mandatory 15% gratuity on total bills) - this is the one that always tick me off. the 15 % mandatory gratuity is NOT only based on the food, but based on total bill. Changing rooms, restrooms are impeccable, very clean. What made me dropped a star was the fact that they enforced the 1.5 hour too strict. There was no more party after ours; we were supposed to finish at 3.30pm (so not too late). If we were late by 5-10 min, what's the big deal? Our server said we could take our time, bless her heart...but the supervisor and another girl then came and they were rushing us out. read more

I am a member of two different gyms, a more expensive high-end gym and the Frisco Athletic Center. For the price FAC is fantastic. There is a great selection of equipment, several TV monitors over the treadmills and bikes area, and a broad range of group classes. All of the equipment, weights and machines are in one large room, which is a bit impersonal, but they are spotlessly clean and I rarely have to wait to use what I want. The classes are good, though could be offered at more convenient times. Unless you want to come in at 5:15 a.m., there are no classes before work. And many of the evening classes start at 7:00 or 8:00 p.m., which I'm not much for a workout after dinner. The locker rooms are clean and well-kept, though don't expect amenities like towels or hairdryers - you will need to bring your own (which I figured out the hard way!). The people who work here are also great - all very friendly and helpful. Thank you! read more

Love this place! I go there to blow off steam and keep my girlish (?) figure. Folks of all ages can be found there, and the kid section is separate from the serious-workout section so you can plow through your workout without tripping over the little ones. If I had little ones, I'd bring them there, too; there's lots for them to do. Did I mention they have racquetball courts???? Something for everyone! We totally should have gotten a membership sooner. It started with swim lessons here for the little one, which you don't have to have a membership for. We also toured the facility, and saw how nice it was. And truly, there is hardly ever a wait for a machine even during peak times. You can't beat the price for a family, if you pay up front annually, it comes out to $50 per month. They have a good variety of classes and provide towels. There are two basketball courts and a handful of racquetball courts. The outdoor pool area is the most impressive, with a lazy river (there is an indoor lazy river as well), large slides, cabanas you can reserve, and plenty of chairs for laying out. The staff is extremely friendly and the fun club is good as they will watch your kids for up to 2 hours per day while you work out. read more

My rating is strictly for the INDOOR pool, as that is the sole amenity I have used thus far. The indoor pool is a hot mess. I know it is difficult to find people to work as lifeguards for such a low wage but in addition to the many kids they have working as lifeguards, they really should invest in having one adult on duty. Specifically, the lap lanes are what are entirely unacceptable. I have yet to see any posted rules regarding etiquette for the lap lanes, but for the sake of SAFETY, they really should establish some if they have not already, or start enforcing them. Children and teens will randomly walk through the lanes while people are swimming their laps and I have seen quite a few near-accidents. Even amongst adults, no etiquette is displayed. Two people will be using a lane (which is a tight fit in such a small area, anyhow) and others will randomly cut in. I watched a handicapped man almost get taken out by a rude, unsupervised child. I'm not anti-kid but there is plenty of other space for them to play. The lifeguards never, ever, EVER speak up to defend those who waited a long time for their lane, or ever chastise rude people or kids endangering the swimmers in the lap lanes. I just discovered this place and its pretty fantastic. In a TL;DR kinda way concluding everything of the place. It almost makes LifeTime look like YouFit. Great quality equipment. GREAT Weight training section which is something I was looking for. I can even enjoy a nice water park after my workout in this hot summer weather. The group classes are fantastic and have a great range of different things and EVERYTHING is included in membership. (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Lifetime. Most of the group classes were the same. Anything different and you would need to pay extra in LifeTime) I am lucky enough to be a Frisco resident. So its just $40/month. No initial fee. 5 day cancellation notice. Thats it. Small little cons. You gotta bring your own locker lock and there isn't a Big towel service for showers (Unlike Lifetime). Thats about it. Much recommendations to come here. read more

Clean gym! Everyone wears a mask! People wipe down the machines after use(I'm a germ freak, so I pay attention to this). They also have 2-4 staff members walking around, cleaning the machines. read more

I took my son today and we got kicked out because it was at capacity! We were in the inside pool area and they closed it down then wouldn't let us back outside. It was ridiculous. We paid $22 to get kicked out after one hour. read more

I paid the ten dollars and work out here one day. Its very big and roomy lots of equipment. My only gripe I wish the looker room was bigger and cleaner. It seems like the locker room needs to be updated and is a distance from the fitness center. It was nice that they supply workout towels. read more

The front of house staff was very rude to my friends whenever we went in. She was interrogating my friend just because he is a high schooler, which I find very unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope that high management sees this and makes sure this doens't happen to anyone else. read more

The Frisco Athletic Center is where I go to burn all the calories I take in because of Yelp. The FAC is run by the city of Frisco. It's one stop shopping for family fitness. Even though I've never been to Lifetime Fitness I imagine it's probably the closest thing to the FAC that I can think of. The FAC has indoor and outdoor water areas complete with pools, slides and lazy rivers. They have lots if swim classes but they book quickly. Inside the FAC they have a cafe, child care areas, locker rooms, basketball and racquetball courts. I wish they would shut that damn cafe down though cause it always smells good. You know how hard it is to workout when you're starving?!?! Wait! There's more, oh yes there's more. They have multiple rooms for exercise classes, spin classes, yoga and the list goes on and on. All of that stuff is great but I really only care about the actual "gym" area. The FAC has Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, and Cybex weight resistance machines. They have a pretty big free weight area as well, which is good cause I hate waiting for benches and dumbells. There's lots and lots of treadmills and cross trainers for cardio. They're all lined up in front of the flat screens so you can lose yourself in your workout. The FAC has it's short comings like not always having towels in the workout area, but I've never been to a gym that's totally perfect. Overall it provides good value for your hard earned money. No contracts and a single membership will set you back $28 a month. A family membership is $60. Not too bad at all. read more

This ain't your average "rec center." Outstanding value. For a single membership it only costs $35 (no extra fees and don't have to pay first and last month like u do at 24 hour fitness). There is no contract. Can cancel at any time. It's only about 65$ for a family membership. So prices are comparable to LA fitness and 24 hour fitness but this place is much cleaner, nicer and has more to offer in my opinion. Not as nice as lifetime but a fraction of the price. They have both an indoor lap pool and an outdoor mini water park which my three year old loves. Even have a lazy river! There's a pool playground indoor and outdoor. Big water slides indoor and outdoor. They have basketball courts that aren't too crowded usually. The weight room has pretty up to date machines and a lot of them. They have plenty of benches and free weights as well. Plenty of tv's to watch whilst pumping the iron. Bathrooms and showers are well maintained. The cafe used to be much better (they now only offer microwave quality pizza and have a very limited unhealthy menu) but I can deal with that. It would be nice if the hours were extended longer since I like to work out later and especially on the weekends ( only open til like 6 on Sundays and don't open til noon on Sundays) They're still okay though. I know this may sound like a "fake" review bc of how gushing it is but I have no affiliation with them and would honestly gain more by less people finding out about it. But don't want to hold back from the yelp community which I rely on :) read more
