The location is very convenient, most needs are within a 10 to 15-minute drive. Western Sands is not a large park, and that may be one of the main reasons for being so comfortable; it doesn't take much to get to know most residents. Management is very helpful and takes good care of the amenities and residents with proper attention. The overall activities are very well managed, and there is something to do for everyone who wants to participate. We intend to continue spending the winters here as long as we can. The host told me I had to make a deposit for the first night. So I did. Unfortunately, on March 20, 9 days before my date of arrival on March 29, I had to cancel as our plans changed and we have to return to Canada early. They only tell you that the deposit is non refundable on your confirmation receipt, after you already paid the deposit. This is policy stinks, and should be changed to make it more customer friendly. The RV lots differ dependent on where you park but this is the cleanest resort we have ever been to. We went to the February concerts, they were amazing. The pool and hot tubs are very clean. Lots of friendly neighbors, both owners and renters, lots of dog walking. The weather was spectacular, it only rained 1 time in 2 months, lots of shopping close by, and many good restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed the Palms resort so much we booked for 6 months for the winter season in 2026. See you in October.

The new manager has locked all the gates going to the big dog park, where they don't clean or weed, has also has a padlock. Most residents prefer to use it as it is sand. The new dog park is smaller and has a kitty litter base, which also doesn't get cleaned, but it irritates the paws. They expanded the storage area, the chain link has not been stretched to be tight, have added a screen, so it acts like a wind sock with rattles. I used to brag about this park and encourage friends to check it out. Now we have weeds everywhere and garbage blowing around, and the so called maintenance is nearly useless. Fingers crossed that all this changes.

When i made my inquiry about staying here, I was told that the $650 a month fee included "FULL HOOK UPS". It turns out that their definition of FULL HOOK UPS does not include electricity. I'm seventy one years old and have been retired nearly fourteen years. My wife and I have stayed at many RV resorts over these many years and have never encountered this before. The year-around residents here pay about $280 a month PLUS electricity. Our $650 winter monthly fee and the "FULL HOOK UPS" quote gave no hint or suggestion that an electric fee would be added on. That aside, Arizona West is a very nice resort that we will consider returning to again. it's well kept, the staff is friendly and helpful, and everything is kept very clean and in working order.
