The community feel of the complex was great. I liked all my neighbors. Our dogs all became friends (this is a great apartment if you are a pet owner). I'd often BBQ with neighbors at the community grill at the pool. Or one in the courtyard. I'd stay here for years if I wasn't heading back to Los Angeles. SAFE & SECURE. AFFORDABLE. SPACIOUS. My apt. was a one bedroom but VERY spacious, and included both a utility closet with a washer and dryer as well as a really large walk-in closet. The bedroom was the perfect size for a queen size bedroom set (a king would also fit!), and the bathroom was also more than big enough and also had a closet. I have no words to express how amazing the place is. If you are looking for an apartment in which to stay either temporarily or permanently, DO NOT make the mistake of just going with the "big name" apartment companies without stopping here.

Then one day while searching on Craigslist, I saw a listing for an apartment that was very affordable and seemed to be almost too good to be true - it was the stuff scams are made of... BUT when I actually went to view the property it was better than expected. Although I ended up moving into a different unit than the one I saw the ad for, I was very pleased with my experience. I always felt safe. The staff was very attentive (at the time it was Danielle and Ebony if I'm remembering correctly, but later was Danielle and Keina). Any maintenance issues I had were handled quickly and efficiently. I loved all of the resident appreciation events even though I couldn't make most of them. Also it was very quiet. I saw many neighbors come and go, but they all were good people despite their walk of life. I honestly could have stayed at the Arts forever, but working in the film industry, the dual strikes made my place a bit harder to afford. Also due to work I'd spent the previous year away from home anyway so a move was inevitable, but overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I've had a few apartments before, but The Arts was by far my best renting experience to date. If I ever move back to Louisiana, they will be my first stop!

April, the property manager, was very easy to work with and arranged for me to have my keys the Sunday night I arrived so that I wouldn't have to pay for a hotel stay :) Positives: 1. The night I moved in, my freshly renovated apartment was SPOTLESS and move-in ready. I didn't have to clean ANYTHING and I'm someone who has allergies and is OCD about cleanliness. 2. The kitchen is spacious with granite countertops, a large sink, and a decent amount of storage space. Apartment comes with your own washer/dryer too. 3. It's safe- there is 24 hour security. Although, sometimes I do notice that the guards are away and leave the gate open but that's probably because they're attending to complaints or issues on the property. 4. The gym is not bad and the pool area and property are well maintained. 5. The neighbors I've met so far are very friendly. I never hear any loud music, etc. 6. It's a very convenient location with Whole Foods, The Ochsner Medical Center, Barnes and Noble all being within a few mile radius. 7. When I spoke to my other friends/classmates, I noticed that they paid significantly more for similar upgrades but smaller square footage. So, I'm satisfied with the rent I'm paying. 8. The staff is very friendly and they take care of repairs and requests you make pretty fast. I accidentally dropped one of my diamond earrings in the sink and I immediately emailed April in the night to ask if someone could help me unscrew the sink pipe so I could get my earring out. Early next morning, the repairmen came over and retrieved my earring! Negatives: 1. I really enjoy studying and waking up to natural light, but with all the window curtains open there isn't much natural light coming into the apartment (this is a minor negative though). 2. I'm a an EXTREMELY light sleeper so in my bedroom I can hear cars passing by but it's not very loud, doesn't keep me awake at night and it's something I'm getting used to. When I'm really tired, I hardly notice the noise outside. 3. I do find that the walls are thin and although I don't hear my neighbors talking, etc., I can definitely hear the shower, faucets and washing machines running. I guess the walls and pipes aren't very insulated. Again- this is a minor negative. Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives, so I'm overall very happy with my decision to live here and would highly recommend!

Maybe they should start adding fees to the residence rent if they are witnesses to be not picking up after themselves properly? Just an idea.

Bellawood has dozens of apartments vacant listed online for weeks. I was initially rushed to apply under the soft threat of "they may be gone if you wait!You should apply ASAP" Standard sales tactic. I watched the price plummet $50+ dollars in the weeks each unit stay unrented. Then when I went to apply for 9/2 move in date it was arbitrarily changed to 10/3 move in. When I asked Leslie why it was moved I got a bright shiny "Well, I don't know!" she deals in syrupy faux polite "I don't know"s. When I spoke to the manager Sydney about this, she explained it calmly and logically offering a closing comment of "there's no way Leslie would have known why" So, leasing agents don't have proper information to give to prospective tenants? WHY? Ridiculously juvenile antics and word salads from half baked brains. Total Confusion, chaos and mismanagement when there are tons of other properties in the area. All of the women there are surface southern "nice" but social politeness doesn't supersede intelligence and professionalism. I contacted Tonti Properties and filed a complaint against Bella Wood. To add more confusion, Tonti Properties is different than the corporate entity Tonti, which owns a large amount of SE Louisiana apartment complexes. Additionally, there is another business name that appears when applying after being debited for app fee: Creekwood Elmwood, LLC. So it's a bunch of scam companies triangulating their schemes with haphazard, sloppy tactics. Seems like a scam. Happy to be looking elsewhere and away from this nightmare of stupidity.
