I LOVE Windmill Farms. We drive to WF from Orinda because we like it so much. There are always several fruits or vegetables on special. Right now it is naval oranges and they are SO good! Really fresh, super sweet and way cheaper than the farmers market (but still locally sourced and fresh). Those are .57 cents a pound. And the golden nugget peelable oranges are 1.47 a pound. At the farmers market the exact same orange, which is currently in season, is 4 dollars a pound. I always buy the stuff on sale (this time it was organic celery - 1.47 each buy one get one free) When you are flexible on what to cook, if you buy what's on sale and what is in season you will eat so well for so cheap. This is how you stay healthy. I wish every city had a market as well-run as this one. My only regret is I didn't read the reviews before I started going several years ago because I finally did read them and found a few products I will have to try next time! Portuguese sweet bread? Yes please!

We were in the area and decided to pick up some fresh produce. A solid place to pick up fresh and in-season produce. You can find "some" good bargains here.

In autumn, I love this market even more than at any other time of year. The best pumpkin patch in the area, with adorable animals in the petting zoo, including a very curious black sheep. Everything else is as nice as always. I'm also glad to note that in recent months, vegetable prices here haven't been rising as sharply or as quickly as in other places. The people working at the market are very friendly and have helped me load my groceries into the car more than once.

I popped in for the first time this past weekend and I had no idea this hidden gem was here! They had super good deals on produce - 10 mini avocados for $1 A freezer full of pies, ice cream, and a back cooler section with lots of fun local cheese. They also had a whole wall of dried fruits, nuts, and I recommend trying the garlic chips if you haven't yet! It was a little busy but that would be expected on the weekend. Checkout was fast too, they take card without an extra fee if you spend over $10

    The perfect pumpkin.

Another October... another pilgrimage to Windmill Farms for a pumpkin haul! While the idea of strolling a pumpkin patch in 96°F temps was not putting me in the Halloween spirit, I fortunately discovered that the hot weather had seemingly scared away other shoppers, so I practically had the entire parking lot and pumpkin patch to myself. Windmill Farms once again had the best variety and quality I've seen in the East Bay, so while I initially came for ONE pumpkin, I could not resist filling my shopping cart. Of course I found another beautiful Pink Porcelain pumpkin, but I couldn't resist also stocking up on pumpkins that will be good eating into the new year: kabocha, sugar pumpkins, Japanese Black Futsu, and delicata squash. And because Windmill is also one of the best farm stands around, I grabbed all my fave root veggies, including the hard to find Japanese yams. Quite the haul, yet still didn't break the bank! And as always, the folks at Windmill are friendly and helpful. Thanks, Windmill, for kicking off another holiday seasonal veggies shopping spree!

Large selection of produce. Great prices. Also has a regurgitated area. Grapes were large, sweet and fresh. The produce was large and didn't have bruises on it. Just a great place to buy well priced fruit and veggies!

Nice local family produce market that has withstood the test of time. Produce is pretty reasonable & fresh. They also offer a wide selection of crackers, chips, pies & ice creams. They have a small parking lot & is across from In n'Out Burgers.

This is a great farmers market! Clean, outside vented with covered space. Excellent quality produce, veggies....& a few store staples. Also regularly stocks pies....fresh & frozen. GREAT...delicious treats always found here. Also, great reasonable pricing. You can get enough veggies for the wk...around $20-$25. Employees there unobtrusive, but everything regularly well stocked and clean. A treat to stop here... Close to freeway, but worth the diversion. They also do Christmas trees during Dec and other side sells for other holidays. Great business... Thank you, Sharine

Small place, but great selection of pumpkins at reasonable prices. Only one or two other small families there on a weekday morning. Easy parking and good signage promoting mask wearing. Hand wash station and a huge bottle of hand sanitizer was available. They have a few small animals like a goat, duck, and chickens. You can buy a small bag of feed at the register for $1. They had a mini maze, but we didn't check it out. This is the perfect size place for a young toddler! There is no admission fee, no long walk to the car. Perfect for a quick visit just to grab some pumpkins and take a few pictures. We bought a small striped pumpkin for $1.50 and a larger pumpkin for carving for $7. The produce selection was a lot larger than expected. Most of it was reasonably priced and looked good. They didn't have much organic produce. Would like to come back without the toddler to check this out more!

But what it lacks in space or having a seemingly small area, it makes up for in density. Walking through once I got in, I was pleasantly surprised with just how much beautiful produce was everywhere. There's also a section for prepared foods and products. There's also some live music. This place is a truly fun place to visit. I was here with fam and we were picking up ingredients to use all in the dinner that evening. We ended up getting lamb chops, eggplant for baba ganoush, some potatoes, and some ingredients for a light salad. Luckily, I had family to help because I'm not the best at being able to cook and use all the ingredients that I pick up from the market that day and the dinner was really delicious. I also picked up some tamales, which were really amazing when I had them for next week (I froze them). For an early day snack we also picked up some food from the yakitori stand, which is run by a chef who actually has a restaurant at the city center. All in all, just really good selection, delicious food, great vendors, and just a general great time with great vibes

I mainly visited for the fresh roasted peanuts which was the big draw here over the years. Sizes ranging from a small, medium to large bag @ $3.99/lb. The medium will get you a lb. Green Valley Produce is a small open store/stand offering fruits, some veggies, (no fresh herbs) and Middle Eastern spices, some vacuum-sealed meats, lentils, olive oils, dates, and some all meat puff pastry and vegetarian pies made locally. I left with some okra, yams, garlic, ginger spices, homemade beef pies...and of course, roasted peanuts. *** Overall 3.5 stars *** Pricing on fruit reasonable considering I just went to the Farmer's Market and noticed Green Valley selling the same Cara Cara oranges for 1.89/lb vs $3.89/lb which will get ya 4 oranges! Nevertheless, they occasionally make mistakes and forget to leave certain bags. Of course, that being somebody else gets my groceries. Unlike a normal Walmart which is more like a retail store. Or a super Walmart that is both a supermarket and a retail store. This one is just more a supermarket feel than anything else. The reasons though why I am giving this Walmart such a bad rating is because it suffers from the same problems as most Walmarts. From having a very dirty and unsanitary feeling. The floors are extremely dirty and not clean, the bathrooms same problem are not very clean and always smell really bad, and of course the service is not good like most Walmarts. As for food options, it's what you'd expect at a Walmart. From mostly foul and not good quality produce, to meat that isn't good quality and likely to go bad in a short amount of time, to also being a bit overpriced even for a retail store. The only reason I am giving this store a 2 not a 1 star is because at least, it sells products that you can't get anywhere but Walmart rather its at a normal Walmart or Neighborhood Market. Such as the Cazo De Oro Tortilla chips, to specific juices to so much more. But I still prefer to shop elsewhere than Walmart.

High class prices and foods.....low class customer service!…read moreI drove 50 miles roundtrip from Oakland to their store in Danville on Saturday afternoon to purchase premium sandwiches for a party we were having. At 3PM I attempted to order 6 sandwiches from the deli department....the guy working there said he was out of rolls! What? Out of rolls at only 3PM? How can ANY huge supermarket run out of rolls? So, I went over to their bread department and found some rolls. He then told me he can not use rolls from their own bread dept to make sandwiches. I made it clear to him I was willing to pay extra for the rolls but he said he couldn't do it. So I went and got the store manager on duty, a nice fellow named John. John was very apologetic about having run out of rolls and he also agreed that his staff should have made my sandwiches with bread from the bread department, given they prematurely ran out of rolls. He went over and spoke to the woman behind the deli counter. She told the Manager that they never said they wouldn't make the sandwiches from alternative bread, it was just that I did not say I would be paying extra for that bread! That was not the truth. When I said to her directly you are not speaking truth to your manager and I said do not put words into my mouth, she insisted I never told the guy back there I'd pay extra for the bread! Who needs such confrontations and frustrations over sandwiches after driving 25 miles each way to buy some? I walked out. We will never be shopping at Lunardi's market again. They sure know how to apply excessive high prices to their goods while at the same time not providing any exceptional customer service! That store has some major issues with their staff and attitude problems. This is the fault of upper management not instructing their underlings what a "premium store experience" should feel like. I certainly could have gotten a more customer friendly, positive experiences from any local Dollar Store, compared to the circus I received at Lunardi's Saturday!
