Jonathan did an amazing job with installing 2 window units (one GE and one Dreo, both bought on amazon). I was initially reluctant to spend any money on having A/C's installed, so first had the building superintendent temporarily plop in one of the units on the window (resting on window bracket), this was very shoddy with gaps and air spaces everywhere. Jonathan's install was on a different level - like a piece of art. Firstly, he removed and aligned the brackets properly, with the right amount of incline. Then he installed the A/C's just that they were screwed in to the windows and just slightly above the brackets (not touching). The brackets are there for additional safety and if the unit does not touch them, it reduces the vibrations and noise substantially. Jonathan also installed a plexiglass side panel which looks very nice. Throughout this he was very pleasant to talk to, and clearly had a deep technical background and a passion for this sort of work. Yelp did it again. It helped me find a spectacular handyman and now I can say it helped me find a spectacular AC guy. AC guy? Is that a thing? Not really. Unless you're in Atlantic City and there's some creepy local who just sits and ogles people in a casino. Then maybe it's a thing. In any case, my experience with Jonathan and Supercoolnyc was 5-star worth and more. It's hard to write a review when a service has been done so quickly and efficiently. There's hardly anything to comment on! But I'll try my best. I'll start with the "before" process. Yelp has a nice little feature--on some pages--that tells the user how quickly (or slowly) a service professional responds to emails, as well as the percentage of how many emails this person replies to. I've only seen this on business pages where quotes for particular services are quite variable. This is all to say that this nice little feature is NOT on Supercool's Yelp page. But I'm here to report that response time is v fast, as the kids like to say nowadays. -Emailing with Jonathan Easy and breezy, as chatting with an AC guy should be. Get it? Too many dumb jokes in this review. In any case, Jonathan got back to me quickly and helped me to pick out an AC before anything else. He asked for the dimensions of my apartment in order to find a unit that could best reach all nooks and crannies of my apartment in the hot summer months. Supercool sells AC units along with offering installation, so if you're lazy/ignorant like me, this is a wonderful option. Jonathan will give you a quote beforehand (as everyone should) so you'll know how much you're in for day-of. -Setting up a time Again, as easy as it should be. Installation hours are 12pm-8pm, which I'm guessing many of us can appreciate. Later hours allow employed folks to schedule an installation for after work. As is the case with most services, you'll be given a 2-hr. window, during which Jonathan will call you when he's about 10-20 minutes away. So if you're in the middle of doing yoga (as I was when he called), you have time to pretend you weren't just doing whatever you were doing. -Installation It took 15 minutes. 20 minutes max. I remarked to Jonathan that I was amazed/impressed, and he responded, somewhat in jest, of course, "well, I've got a little experience doing this" (wonderful customer service graph coming next). The break it down for you, Jonathan arrived, I blinked two or three times, and then there was a beautiful new AC installed in my kitchen window (safety bracket and all!). As it should be in New York. -Customer service/vibes/people being people people (a person being a people person) Jonathan was a delight! He was happy to make small talk, which I appreciated. I always feel a bit awkward when I'm just sitting on my couch waiting for someone to finish installing/fixing/setting up whatever they're working on. Why not be social? Obviously this is personal preference, but I like to make people feel that they're more than just transactional inertia. Enough about me though. We had our ancient, inherited-with-the-apartment A/C punk out in our studio apartment-sized office during a heat wave, of course. Supercool were not only best quote we got, and let me know as soon as they had a cancellation to squeeze us in while other places quoted us double and weren't available for a week. When no one from my team was able to take a picture of our current set up in our unbearably hot office, the Supercool team managed to find photos of the interior and the A/C from the listing before we rented the place. Good thing they did, too, because there was an extra step they needed to take for installation/removal that I wouldn't have been aware of otherwise. How resourceful! I live in Brooklyn, and I wanted to get a window air conditioner installed in my living room now before the summer rush. While doing research on air conditioner installation, I read lots of good things about Supercoolnyc, including here on Yelp. So I reached out to Jonathan via email last week. Easy breezy installation! Jon was a referral from a friend and I'm very happy with the services. My NYC apt building now requires all window AC's to include a safety bracket (so it doesn't fall down on people below). Jon knew exactly what bracket rule I was referring to, which was comforting. I was able to schedule an evening app't (7:30ish) which worked out well since I work during the day. The only pre-homework I had to do was to text a few pics of my current window frame and AC for him. He also helped me cork the open seams in the side panels so winters will be warmer for me. Very satisfied with Jonathan's work and professionalism. We contracted him for the removal and disposal of a very old unit from a 4th floor apartment in Brooklyn. His quote was not the cheapest one but we did not want to deal with handymen considering the age and condition of the unit and window. Like several other yelpers noted, he is running this small business nearly single-handedly, so it may take a few days for him to respond, but it's worth the wait (and note that he said next year he plans to hire a few additional people, so that will help). He was right on time and an expert with the old A/C unit my husband and I had found in the closet in our new apartment. He checked the unit for mold, told me the best ways to keep it running for a few more years, and showed me how to clean the unit and the filter. I read the reviews posted and was "sold" on requesting service. I called the number listed and received a recording stating they are a small company, therefore, their response time is 48hrs, and if you do not hear from them within that time frame; they suggest you contact a different vendor - WEIRD. Of course my two(2) calls, I did not receive a response. So I tried contacting them via inbox on Yelp. I received what I would say as a prompt response. Here were it made no sense. They informed me that do not service my area in Queens; although their are views posted for sections in Queens. When I replied back informing them that they have other areas in Queens that they service, so why not mine - I received not response. RUDE! The fact that they have a wider range of service areas listed for reviews leads me to believe so of the posting listed are "Fakes": Their lack of professionalism is not desirable. After I installed my window unit this summer, I realized something was wrong with it -- it was leaking and clicking, not cooling very well. Was surprised it broke, since the unit was only 2.5 years old and I store it inside for at least 6 months a year. Not knowing any better, I figured it would be my last year with the unit. This business's great service prompted me to start a yelp account! I had a great quality (but well past it's prime) 19,000 BTU a/c unit for my parlor floor that had been on the fritz for about 2+ years. I also had a very tricky and tough to fit window and metal security gate. In short - I had very few options. Freidrich no longer made the old unit and the new replacements were both very costly (which I was OK with) and on back order in most places. Other new available options from the big box stores did not have the capacity to cool the floor efficiently. After reading many glowing reviews on yelp, I decided to call. I was very surprised when a person actually answered in the middle of a NYC heat wave! I spoke to Jonathan and explained my situation. I provided the measurements and history of the unit, I also texted him photos of the current installation and the plugs. He went right into his warehouse and found a refurbished one year old unit from freidrich that would fit the bill. He provided the model number and price of the proposed replacement so I could do independent pricing and quality research. His pricing was very fair and he was also able to install it after work that night. He arrived within 15 minutes of the time frame provided and stayed in contact with me while en route. Jonathan and his other installer worked quickly and cleanly. They even sanded down a tiny bit of metal gate so that the unit would fit better.
