This is a regular pit stop for my sister and her family on the way to Sea Ranch and Gualala. They usually drive inland, thru Vallejo, up the 101 to Santa Rosa, before cutting west towards the coast. I usually go up along the coast on hwy 1 thru Bodega Bay so miss M'sTG completely. This is an awesome farmers' market on hwy 116. Produce looked so good, they looked unreal. The place looked so colorful and picturesque, like a movie set. Only sorry we didn't buy more fruit. Great quality and prices seemed fair. The plums and nectarines were not mealy like some grocery store fruit. They were sweet, juicy, and crisp. They didn't last 1 meal. They were devoured that night as dessert after dinner. We also got some yummy chocolate covered caramels and espresso beans. The freeze dried veggie chips were crisp and not stale at all. Mike's Truck Garden may be worth changing my future driving route to the coast. read more

When I asked how to pick out a watermelon one of staff took me to the watermelons and showed us what to look for and I learned something useful. I love this place and hope it never goes away. It's Iconic! I live downtown but drive out River Rd., so pretty, it's my secret "treat" myself and ME time. I'm lucky enough to live nearby Mike's and have been stopping by weekly for their fresh, delicious fruits and veggies that are always top quality! I usually take a look around, and leave with my bags full because Mike's also carries a wide selection of other goods we enjoy like local honey, dried fruit, cold drinks, and home-style canned pickles, olives, etc. that do not disappoint. This is also where I purchase our bread because I have not found this level of softness AND freshness in any supermarket. Mike's is a come-as-you-are kind of establishment who's employees leave you alone to shop, but are there if you have a burning question. A typical stop here is around $30-43 for a family of two. Really seemed like the cashier was not fully removing the item from the scale before putting another item on. Didn't seem like the scale had a chance to zero out. She did the whole ring lighten fast. I stumbled upon this place in route to my wine tasting. I couldn't help but stop since I was ahead of schedule and the prices on the signs for fruit seemed unmatched for fresh, primarily non GMO produce. Pulled over IMMEDIATELY!! They are off some two lane highway I was on. Natalia and Haley were the cashiers working during my impromptu trip. Lovely ladies, very helpful. This Farmers Market is open March through November. They are small in size but mighty in quality produce and beyond. I met a local customer Sloan who comes here almost weekly. I ended up leaving with two SEEDED watermelons, two honey dew melons, two Persian limes, a basket of peaches, one nicely ripe mango, okra chips, a special edition, I say special edition as I've seen NO other business, market, grocer with a VACUUM SEALED bag of Boom Chick A Pop kettle korn popcorn, natural local honey sticks, and lastly a new addition to my plant family. It is a must for me to hit up at least one outdoor produce stand, if on a road trip on California back roads. One it directly supports the local economy; and two, it stuffs my cooler and car with fruits at the peak of their season that will nourish us travelers for the duration of the trip. Ain't no road stops to Starbucks or Mc Donald's for this mofo. Something my dad passed onto me and is just a natural choice in my wiring. This produce stand is easy to spot along the country road that will eventually hug the the Russian River in Sonoma County. It is a very organized and polished produce stand, that even bougie city folk would find it adoring. Well maybe except for the bugs that love to fly around the summer swelter. I never mind that as I simply don't bother getting mad at natural occurrences. I've only been in the throws of summer so the abundance on sweet summer fruits have always been on point on my visits. Primo stone fruits, juicy berries and even real deal tomatoes in all shapes and sizes. My biggest obstacle actually is trying to reel myself in from getting too much as there is a fine line on what you can consume and how long your produce can last without going bad. This place is very grocery oriented as it is not only fresh produce here. They sell nuts, jams, honey and bottled sauces from what I am assuming are all local. They sell bread from a local company, cheese and cured meats in a refrigerated case, so if you want to pack your picnic here, it is more than doable. Very attractively stocked goods, easy parking and fresh produce galore made this a winner of an impromptu stop. Would use them again without hesitation. read more

First of all cute name! Organic fruit, local chips and salsa, assorted jelly beans, and vegetable chips. Even the assorted honey sticks are incredible. They remind me of my childhood so much. That's all I can say I've ever really bought here. Do not buy the Easter colored Jordan almonds. The cookies too aren't very good unfortunately. Especially sitting outside when it's very cold. They get pretty hard. Those things taste way older than they are and pretty sure they've been around since my childhood. Everyone is super sweet and helpful here. Let's face it. Grocery shopping isn't exactly fun. That's why I like to keep it interesting and varied. Mikes Truck Garden (MTG) has been in my rotation for a few years now. I try to avoid the legacy stores like Safeway and Raleys. I'll rotate with Oliver's, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's , Target and MTG. I only hit the perimeter aisles at Oliver's and Whole Foods. The prices on the interior aisles are devastating. Those items I get at Target. MTG has good produce at fair prices with some interesting specialty items. Only gripe is sometimes the warm air over ripens the bananas. On infrequent splurges I'll hit up Sonoma County Meat Company and the fish market on Santa Rosa avenue. For me it's all about variety and avoiding the overly pre-packaged items at the big stores. read more

We happened to see this place driving by and are so glad that we stopped to check this place out! I love that this is a small business and that everyone that worked here was very friendly! This place has a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables out front and there is also a huge selection of refridgerated items inside. They have a large selection of items such as different dried fruit in bags, nuts, meats, pastas, fresh baked bread, different types of loaves of bread (ex. bannana nut), pies, sauces, etc. I love that they also carry locally made products. Their prices are reasonable, you feel good about the quality of food you are eating and that most of the items are really healthy for you, and you feel good about supporting small businesses! Just back from vacation so headed to my favorite spot for fruits and veggies Got boxes of nectarines and apricots all with many other items The apricots in top seemed firm I went directly home and washed everything only to discover that the bottom apricots were almost rotten so I had to cook them, today the remaining ones were like that.one of the nectarines was moldy and today several more show bruise spots and are starting to rot Definitely not first quality fruit like I am use to. In mid-may my family and I hit the road for an epic 70+ day trip. Our goal was to visit small businesses and show our support during this time! We saw this roadside stand on our drive and decided to stop and take a look. Bonus, there was room for our RV and tow car to park, this is always a plus. They had fresh fruit, vegetables, dried fruit, meats, cheeses and more. This was the second stand we stopped at this day and we got much more than planned, due to the great variety. This is almost certainly the best produce stop in the Santa Rosa area. This place is adorable with a fantastic selection of fresh, seasonal, produce. They also have many little delightful treats like European waffles, honey sticks, local bakery treats and a great selection of locally made and delicious hot sauce. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the ambiance in this little place is great. It gets a bit hot here but that's definitely not the fault of the business, rather just what comes with missing a few walls and being open when it's warm outside. This place definitely carries some of the best local hot-sauce in the area. Russian river valley reserve makes absolutely great and spicy hot sauces for an incredibly reasonable price. The red scorpion hot sauce is top tier if you like incredibly spicy sauces, but if you're not into such a hot experience than I'd suggest the 1 & 2 alarm street taco sauce, Such a great flavorful experience. If you really don't enjoy the heat of hot sauces but still like the taste then definitely get the pineapple jalapeno hot sauce. You won't regret any of these choices so make sure to grab some if you're into spicy stuff. read more

Lots of snacks like roasted salted fava beans, yogurt covered raisins, chocolate covered nuts, flavored and plain nuts, candy, etc. they also have a refrigerated section with cheese, meats, drinks, and lots of fruit and some vegetables. Definitely *not* comparable to Berkeley bowl as another reviewer stated...totally different on so many levels. Way better than Berkeley Bowl. Get local veggies and fruits, now and forever you'd thank me for having stopped here. On that weekend, I got a head of cauliflower, local green beans, white nectarine, local melon and Mexican papaya. They make great dishes and fruit salad. Corn looked amazing as well. Not to mention the tree ripe apples and pears. Bought both as well. Also to note, local cheese is aplenty. I'd go an get another semi hard spicy fresh curd. Verdict: Absolutely need to return in the heat of summer. Definitely make this a must stop on the way to Russian River. I am still kicking myself for not having stopped by here on my return trip.
