It's been a month and they continue to ignore my requests for a refund of my deposit after they unilaterally cancelled my application because the apartment needed major repairs that would take months (they relisted the apartment about a week later). The maintenance service is always incredibly helpful and fast! Hilario and Ronaldo are both so great and have helped fix things in no time. Update: The Angela person below Complete scam artists. Building is a pig with lipstick on, which you won't realize until you move in. Maintenance will also deny your repairs, trying to blame you for them. Property management is unresponsive. It's dilapidated with a coat of semi-fresh paint, reeks of dog pee and cigarette smoke. Most residents are also weird old people, not really sure why this demographic clustered here.. Update: The new "5 star" review by Angela S actually by the exact miscreant, elderly demographic I mentioned. She can be constantly heard croaking loudly in an baritone expired smoker's voice throughout the halls, chain smokes so much the halls and balconies reek, tossed her cigarette butts all over the property, and even has tried to invite over the young guys living here (EW). YOU EVER BEEN ROBBED BEFORE? THAT'S WHAT IT'S LIKE LIVING HERE! Will be terminating my lease when it's up and moving. My issues are the egregious rent increases every year (we're talking 9-10%+ annually) and the quality of the residences and overall upkeep. I know the rental market in LA has been especially crazy lately, but mark my words, when it comes crashing down and you're locked into a lease paying 3.5K - 5.5K for an 800 - 1,200 sq ft apartment you'll appreciate the warning. While my rent has increased hundreds and hundreds of dollars my main gripe is none of that $ was invested back into the property. The staff is hit or miss, they can't keep a team in place for more than several months without turning them over or burning them out. Assuming their pay is also low so where does our money really go? To help illustrate the egregious and predatory pricing - a half mile down the street you can rent 3 story (with a private roof) 1,700 sq ft townhome, including a photo to prove my point. Meanwhile you get 500 less sq ft and overall worse accommodations for the same price. Anyways I digress, but please do yourself a favor and look around before renting here, and remember there's no loyalty from management for being a long term renter and they will increase your rent every single year egregiously. Lastly, almost all the tenants here are just the worst. There's a few sweet and kind folks, but for the majority of them are just the worst. I've witnessed complete racists, folks whose dogs threaten you and yours, nosey folks who want to know everything about you and how much money you make, and the likes. It's just makes you feel scuzzy which is not the feeling you want when you're hemorrhaging cash to put a crappy roof over your head. If you're looking for peace and quiet keep on moving as the complex has lots of children who in the warmer months use the pool and can be heard screaming through your windows all day. During the cooler months there's no reprieve as the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors stomping around as well as clearly hear any conversations they're having in the units above and next to you. As a resident of the Windsor for the past 17 months, I am disappointed in the lack of management communication within this community. We are experiencing a major remodel of the interior and exterior common spaces without clear communication from the resident manager. The contractor notified management to remind tenants of the upcoming renovations two weeks prior to their arrival. We did not receive any notification, and the management blamed it on the contractor, telling residents they were as surprised as we were when the work started. Since the beginning of the renovation, my water temperature plummeted, making it almost impossible for me to take a hot shower. The pool is closed during the week and only open on weekends. The hot tub has fine debris in it, which I believe is fiberglass, cutting my skin when the water jets are turned on in the spa. The carpets in the common area are hazardous as evidence by the attached photos. The community is in disrepair and the maintenance crew is hard pressed to keep up with the ongoing issues throughout the building. I recently learned of break-ins to apartments on the first, second and third floors. We supposedly have a night security guard, but I have failed to see this person. A bike was stolen out of the garage along with valuables in locked vehicles. A resident came home to find a man in her bedroom stealing jewelry. She screamed and her neighbors called the police, but the police were unable to capture the thief because only one officer responded because of fear that the attacker was armed. The officer had to wait for back-up reinforcement. I have security parking and yet the community has ongoing break-ins that make it impossible to feel safe and secure within this community. read more

Breaking this review down so it's easier to consume. --What's Good/Great-- - The Front Office & Maintenance Team: A++ (10 stars if I could) - for real, they're awesome - all the staff are top notch. - Management is really ON TOP of the packages (the building faces a daily onslaught of deliveries) and the team does a great job managing; it's as secure as it can be, etc. - Maintenance (A++) If I submit a maintenance request its usually not even an hour and someone is on it. - Very pet friendly, great neighbors, well vetted, quiet. Wonderful Pet of the Month Program!! Perfect neighborhood to walk a dog! - Great heated pool, meticulously maintained grounds. - Walking distance to Larchmont Village / ample guest parking. - Well thought out, well attended resident events / sense of community. - Secure. - EV Charging onsite. On-site pet run - great for late night trips. - Great back patio / shared community area / business center / BBQ's / outdoor fireplace. -- What could change-- - The building's water is a shared expense (so whether you use 5 gallons or 5,000 gallons a month you pay a % of the total bill based on a formula). - Trash / Recycling is expensive. It is charged on volume and not weight which adds up. Many boxes find their way to the bin in their original form. - The AC in my unit went out twice in a few weeks so there is deferred maintenance that needs to be done (fix/update the HVAC pumps / thermostats). - The Microwave not vented externally. While cooking the exhaust (Oven, Range, Microwave) goes back into the unit. - The gym is sufficient (I use frequently and like it) but it needs a refresh with more modern / new equipment (Pelotons are the exception and are great!). - Add a pet washing area... that'd be super sweet! I lived in this building for 7 years in 3 different apartments. I only moved out because I was pregnant and we needed a three-bedroom, which doesn't exist in this building. If that were an option, we would have gladly stayed. The location is one of the best in LA and the building is beautiful. The pool is lovely (as is everyone who works there, especially Paula). My husband and I were incredibly happy with the building 90% of the time we lived there. We're also from NYC and grew up in fancy Upper East Side Doorman buildings. So, we are picky af. As for everyone complaining here, perfection doesn't exist in a rental. Try finding another French Normandy style building with large moldings, high ceilings, and pretty archways with a pool, gym, amazing location, and tons of guest parking. Seriously, DM it to me.... Paula & Samantha at the Front Office, Hilario, Rolando, and Judy , the maintenance team, are absolutely AMAZING. I see Paula and Hilario walking the grounds all the time, checking and taking notes. Today, I submitted a work order, within a couple of hours they came and fixed it, They really try to keep us comfortable and Happy. There are a few things that are not perfect, ALL the appliances & the kitchen cabinets in my unit, are really OLD, there are two Peloton bikes at the Gym, one does not work!, the pool is supposed to be heated year round, is not! But, the place is very clean, and well maintained, and the tenants are really nice and friendly. read more

I have lived here since February 2019 and I can't imagine another place that would provide the service and comfort that Windsor does at this price point--especially given the amazing and walkable neighborhood that surrounds it. The office staff is responsive and friendly--Nazik is effective! Maintenance is on-site daily, and while there have been minor delays due to COVID, I have had *NO* major issues to report since move-in. You can submit and review work orders online, pay rent online, and (due to COVID) make reservations for amenities use online. Any building issues, like a broken gate, is fixed promptly and regular communication is sent out when these things occur. The common areas are well taken care of and maintained. You won't see a broken fixture or stained furniture or dilapidated amenities at Windsor. They have Peleton bikes in the gym, a heated pool and spa, two BBQs, a small dog run for your pet with doggy bags provided, an Amazon Hub, concierge carts for resident use, and a spacious outdoor seating area with a gas fireplace. Yes, you can often hear upstairs neighbors, but this noise is pretty standard for apartment living. I have never had an issue with large parties into the night or loud music. Sooooo happy that they did to me what they do to everyone! They tried to raise my rent total approximately 10%. I looked and found an apartment that is only four years old, more square footage, very well made with amazing new appliances and soooo beautiful, warm and welcoming. And it is in a beautiful area and $700 dollars less a month! And I am really disappointed with the way this place is run and the way I was treated! It is not made well and loud, there is constantly people moving in and out and with that comes the constant remodel with the loud construction and the management is not helpful or kind. We had lived here 2 years. We got new neighbors upstairs and after calling the office and letting them know at least 5 or 6 times that there was loud music and noise coming from one of the new neighbors, we noticed that another apartment was available and we know the people that lived there before so we wanted to transfer. Well lets just get really clear... I live in an apartment that needs to be updated really bad, I have new neighbors that are really LOUD, I have never been late for a rent payment or had any complaints... and I just renewed my lease. Which you think I would be a good tenant, right? And they would want to help me transfer because I am willing to pay the transfer fee... lets not forget that they are NOT ADHERING to the contract we are bound by... they have a legal obligation to keep noise down... and yet I am willing to pay to get away from the noise... and the property manger was simply not willing to make any kind if considerations. She was short and rude on the phone. She said they would not hold that apartment as it was available now and I had not given them a thirty day notice!!! I called the corporate office... it did help and the transfer was approved after all of that. And now the person upstairs moved out and after a month of LOUD HAMMERS AND SAWS, the new neighbors have moved in. I know because I can hear EVERYTHING THEY DO. Every footstep is loud and squeaky. And I can even hear them move the furniture around. And now I have already told the guy at the head quarters about the noise. And I am ready to be released from my lease . I am ready for some peace and quiet!! Which does not exist here!! I can't wait to move out of this apartment. They deodorize the carpet to unmask the smell of dog feces . Dogs barking at night. Complained to management about barking dogs and said they can't do anything about it because this is a pet friendly apartment. This is not a well built building. The distance between the Lower floor and the upper floor is just about 6 yards, so I can hear footsteps from people upstairs. This is the worst place I've stayed. People upstairs seem to be moving furniture upstairs every night something every minute. Difficult for me to go to sleep. I'm glad that people or children are well behaved when using the swimming pool or jacuzzi. I only hear occasional screaming read more

I lived here for 3 years. I'd say I was generally happy with my experience here. The building is pretty, there is parking, and there are regular social events for residents. However, I did experience a couple of problems. The first week I moved here my car was broken into to. It happened to other residents a couple times after that. Additionally, this guy broke into the garage and was following a young woman. So my husband intervened and the guy threatened to hurt my husband. The security guard was else where on the property. Windsor should definitely hire more security because it was a pretty big property and it did attract a lot of unwanted characters. Other than that, the staff was very kind and professional. We also lived across from actress Frieda Pinto for awhile which was cool! read more

I have been living here for two years and my experience has been pleasant. The building is great. The leasing office is always so helpful. I haven't had many issues but the two times I have maintenance was so quick and helpful..within 24 hours or less (usually less) they handle the issue at-hand and are so kind and courteous. They cover all grounds and are very communicative when you need something. Some of the problems are out of the building's control, which is understandable, but they are very reliable and assist in tackling the issue...the staff is very professional so I am very pleased... read more

The Windsor is an AMAZING place to live. Facing a country club but with Hollywood just up the street, you can truly get the "best of both worlds": real tranquility for your home with full access to vibrant restaurants, nightlife, etc. just a few blocks away. Scam artists. The Marlow/Windsor apartment company asked us to provide 580.00 - part hold and part non-refundable credit checks for two people. I emailed them 1.5 days later to inquire about the status of the apartment and to see it before move in. I received no response. I negotiated a better deal at the Madison Hancock Park with my current manager. We moved into a two bedroom with a $500 security deposit and $100 holding fee which is included in the deposit once you decide to move in/sign the lease. [We are paying $200 less for what we would have paid at the Windsor/Marlowe.] I let the manager at the Windsor/Marlowe know we would no be taking the apartment, a one bedroom. "How about looking at our other apartments?" she suggested. I asked for my $500 to be refunded. She refused stating that is was a holding fee and that I had 24 hours to decline the apartment. The paperwork we signed stated that the $500 was a security deposit. I am not living there and they still won't return the $500 or even a partial refund! What a scam! read more

These apartments are HORRIBLE stay away!! Take the community off of the name. This is a corporate owned building and they have no idea what the definition of community means. The complex is a revolving door. They sucker you in but fail to tell you that because this building was built after 1980 they can go up on the rent as much as they want. Yes, even the unheard amount of 14%. They had the nerve to look me straight in the face and tell me my rent was going up 400 dollars in one year. Once you've moved in who wants to move again the next year? It finally comes to a point where you finally say I've been scammed enough. The office and maintenance staff turn over rate is about equivalent to the tenants. Don't worry about a friendly welcome in the office because more then likely they won't even know you live in the building. I lived in the building for 3 years. There has been a new office manager and staff every year. I would say your paying for the amenities but I can't. Why? Well we were told that the amenities worked. How about a dry sauna that never works, with no urgency to get fixed. I hot tub that maybe works a couple times year. If your going up on my rent by 400 or more a year can I at least get updated fitness machines that work? It may look good as your passing by on this tree lined street in a nice neighborhood, but it's a disaster from the time you sign your lease. This is the first review I have ever written, but I think it needs to be out there. I have lived in LA for over ten years and I have never had such a horrible living experience. I was really excited to move into this community. It's a beautiful building in a great area. But it wasn't until I actually moved in that this place became a major disappointment. Starting off with the services, the building only accepts internet through AT&T that has an old system at this location and only supports a maximum speed of 3mbps. This translates into big delays on most downloads, and an impossibility to stream video without interruptions, among many other problems. For cable, the only option you have is DIRECTV, no other provider offers service at this building. Besides for being extremely overpriced compared to other providers, (I've had AT&T U-verse in the past) the quality of service is awful. The service isn't provided by DIRECTV itself but by a company called Consolidated Smart Systems, which means your life becomes more difficult every time you have a service issue i.e they don't have the men power to provide technical support in a timely fashion, they don't have 24 hours phone tech support, etc. I've had an issue with my DIRECTV for 2 months now, and despite my many attempts to solve it, it's still lingers. The residents at this community complain about everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I get noise complaints constantly, every time the security personnel knocks on my door they're surprised that people are complaining for my more than reasonable TV volume at more than reasonable hours. Among the things they've said to me is "Sorry sir, I don't understand why they're complaining, I can barely hear your TV" and after the same guard came for a noise complain for the 3rd night in a row he said "I'm truly sorry for disturbing you sir, I'm just doing my job, really don't know what's wrong with the person calling". To give you a better picture of how extreme the situation is, I even got a complain because a neighbor said cigarette smoke was coming out from my apartment, even though I suffer from Asthma and am a non-smoker. We also get general complaint letters constantly for the most stupid stuff: wind chimes on balconies, cigarette smoke on the hallways, dogs barking (why would they allow dogs in the community then?). I've lived at three different luxury communities in LA and never had such an annoying disturbance. So much complaining has really become a burden on the use and enjoyment of my apartment. The girls at the leasing office are really nice and always have a smile on their faces. The building is clean, well maintained, beautiful and has free guest parking which is a big plus in LA. For these reasons I'm giving it 2 stars. The problem with this community is upper management and its residents. Apparently in order to qualify you as a resident here they pay the most attention to the applicant's ability to complain. In conclusion, I would only recommend this community for people who are 60+, who go to bed every night at 6pm, don't use internet, don't watch TV and love to complain. If you don't fit into this category I would recommend you stay away from this place. I personally can't wait for my lease to be up so that I can find a new home. read more

The Windsor Communities at Hancock Park is a SCAM and not recommended. There is a minimum of $200 rent increase per year. And the attitude towards tenants is: Take it or leave! There are many hidden charges. This "community" has 120 units but only has 1 part time cleaning crew to keep up with the dog friendly building. (trash cans are full and at times you will find garbage bags in the garage) The security is questionable and there has been many burglaries in this building. The gym equipment is old and never clean. Maintenance is poor since they work with a tight budget. The fire alarm goes off on regular basis for no reason to the point it is ignored by the tenants when it goes off. The staff/manager turnover is indeed very high. Andrea Clare the who is the manager tries very hard to be nice and likable but yet increases your rent and follows the corporate policies very tightly to meet her quota and perhaps become the manager of the month. read more

I used to work at this property, so of course I am aware of my bias review. However I got to know each and every resident while working there. The residents seemed ecstatic to call WHP their home, consistantly coming into the office and thanking us. Residents constantly praised myself, maintenance and my manager Richelle. You will never have to worry about the landscaping being immaculate, or the management immediately addressing your concerns. The best part is, the leasing office door is always open. Management will have a personal relationship with you if you ever need additional assistance. Not to mention location, location, location, enough said. This community is overlooking the beautiful Wilshire Golf Course and in close proximity to shopping, entertainment, fine dinning not to mention the beach is a quick drive on the ten. Hancock Park itself is a very luxurious town you would be luck to call your home. Windsor at Hancock Park has beautiful amenities, on-sight leasing and maintenance staff, as well as unbeatable two story apartments. I have worked in property management for quiet some time and my professional option is, you can't beat it! An insider tip--set up text alerts on the website if you want to move in, they are almost always 100% occupied. Clearly that speaks for itself! After living at The Windsor since 5/16 and currently just moved into one of the premier units I can tell you that as a Realtor with 14 years experience this is an absolutely wonderful place to live. The Property Manager Richelle is just lovely and works extremely hard to make every tenant happy. The maintenance supervisor Harry and his assistant Vince are always there to lend a helping hand. Both of our units had been newly renovated. The quality of the renovations are great compared to other properties. OMG - this place is overpriced to begin with and the rent increases are horrific! This is the most tenant-unfriendly building. I'm sorry, but painting a wall in an apartment at no charge does not make up for a greater than 16% rent increase in 20 months. And the maintenance... let me tell you about the maintenance. I had a water leak from the AC vent. I was actually told it was because the thermostat was set too low and the "pipes were getting goose bumps." (I'm not kidding - pipes evidently get goose bumps when they're chilly.) After being told to keep the thermostat at 75 degrees and then having corroded water (burned a stainless steel bowl) continue to drip from the ceiling, I called/emailed again (three times it took, I think) and then one of the maintenance guys admitted that I had a faulty AC pump (took them a week during a heat wave to replace the pump - couldn't even turn on the fan). Oh, and there was also a water leak from the bathtub upstairs. They patched the wall and told me I was taking too hot of showers. It wasn't until I complained about mold growing again and told them I'd been out of town and not using the shower that they came in and patched the wall again, and claimed they fixed the leak upstairs (in less than 8 hours... suspicious). Fortunately, they were quick to take action when one of the burners on my stove exploded. They did swap out the unit that same day. I noticed a high degree of tenant turnover when I first moved in back in January 2012 and couldn't figure it out because the people in the management office seemed nice and the property appeared well cared for. Now I get it... Oh, and forget the beautiful tree lined streets. The neighborhood grocery store is the Pavillions on a drug corner. Don't go there alone after dark. LAPD is always outside and inside because the crime is so awful. And there are homeless drug addicts on the corner - they alternate between Yum Yum Doughnuts and Pavillions. Oh and there's constant petty and not so petty theft in the building. People breaking into the garage and cars parked in the garage, lovely photos of dangerous looking people to "beware of" on the mailroom. Charming. Signed, Off to the burbs. read more

I just moved out of Windsor at Hancock Park. It purports to be a first class property but it is overpriced and filthy. Many of the residents with dogs actually let their dogs urinate and defecate on the carpeting. Management does not clean the carpet frequently enough and, despite videotapes showing whose pets are responsible, does not remove those tenants. Some tenants leave food on the floor of the trash rooms. read more

I've lived here for a little bit over a year now and am a Realtor in Larchmont. I know the area pretty well and have visited many apartment communities within the neighborhood. Windsor at Hancock Park is the newest property in Hancock Park and provides great amenities. Some of the apartments have killer golf course views overlooking the Wilshire Country Club. The best thing is that there are a lot of long term residents here that make it feel like a community versus just an apartment building. read more
