Since I moved into this property in 2017, the quality of life at Kingsley Plaza has been excellent. The studio apartments are the largest I've ever seen, they are priced affordably, and the building is kept clean inside and out. The efficiency and courtesy of our property manager, Nathan McDermott, and the maintenance crew have always been solid and should never be taken for granted. My only criticism is that like most buildings in our neighborhood, the garage is easily accessible by anyone from the street, so random people can get into the property and show up at your door trying to solicit personal information. It would be an improvement to see some cameras installed someday. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after living here for 5 years I feel it's important to share my experience honestly. The biggest issue has been the ongoing roach problem that management has continuously failed to resolve despite multiple complaints, emails, and "treatments." I have repeatedly documented the issues I'm facing, yet instead of my concerns being taken seriously, my feelings and the facts are constantly minimized. At one point, a manager referred to a roach as a "water bug" and told me, "there's no way to get rid of those." It's a roach. Hearing that response while actively dealing with an infestation was incredibly frustrating and dismissive. I was also told I would receive roach boxes without having to continue paying out of pocket myself, and that never happened either. After years of dealing with this, the only solution offered to me was another apartment with only 2 days to move, which is completely unrealistic. Beyond the pest issues, many of the amenities advertised are rarely usable. The pool is almost never available, so I would not consider that a real amenity. The trash areas are consistently overflowing as well. Instead of addressing the actual living concerns tenants bring up, it often feels like management believes having a food truck come once a week somehow makes up for the ongoing problems. The only real positive is that the property is rent controlled -- but honestly, at what cost? No one should have to feel ignored or uncomfortable in their own home after years of tenancy. I moved out of this place but never gave my honest review in fear that management would retaliate against me. The rent was cheaper than any other place in the area, but there is always a reason for a cheaper choice. This place was infested by roaches. The new manager was nice in the beginning but slowly showed his true colors. He was doing his best to improve the property but slowly regressed to efforts of previous managers. At times I would also see his unprofessionalism when talking to his subordinates. I overheard him and his maintenance employees making very offensive comments that shouldn't be repeated. The parking garage smelled of weed at all times, I complained to the management about the smell to which he advised that he wasn't able to help. Maybe his inability to help was because he indulged in the same practice. I gave this place 2 stars because instead of 1 because there was SOME effort to improve the property with SOME success. At this pace, the property will be livable in another 10 yrs. read more

Lived here 15 years. Large 1 bedroom with fireplace. Quiet neighbors loud neighbors get reported, so if you like to bump your music this ain't the place for you. New management has been an improvement. Monthly get togethers for the community. read more

I drove by Kingsley Plaza multiple times before I was ready to move. When it was time for me to move, I came straight to the Leasing Office on a Saturday where the Business Manager showed me a couple of units. I was sold when I saw the fireplace. I didn't hesitate to complete my application online the next day, I was confirmed immediately. It was really easy to apply. The entire application process was simple. I moved in December 2024, the Business Manager Nathan is great! He put together a great Holiday party where Santa came and we all had photo ops! We also had contests, like best Holiday coloring, best decorated balcony and the games with winning prizes at the Holiday party were so much fun! There are many new tenants like myself, so it's nice to meet and greet! We also had movie night on the pool deck. I moved in from a house where I had my own laundry room, I was nervous about doing laundry on premises for the first time. I came to find out it was so convenient, the first time I did laundry, was a rainy day. It was nice not to have to step outside or go anywhere else and stay inside the building to do it. There are enough washers/dryers and you can use an App to pay which is very convenient, just load funds with your Apple pay or however you choose and you're all set! I'm really happy of the choice I made when I came straight to Kingsley Plaza when I was ready to move. Looking forward to the warmer days to dive in the pool! We've also had a monthly get-together where a food truck comes in. The food is pay own however, we have the opportunity to mingle with our neighbors and enjoy. I have to add, I am very busy all the time! I owe so many friends lunch/dinner dates to spend time with them, but getting together after work at the complex and just relax/enjoy has been nice! Not only are the food trucks good, the decorations are fun, but Nathan's play list is right on to whatever the party theme is! What I love about living here is that whenever I have an issue whether it's plumbing or something simple as a single blind to my balcony, it's always taken care of that day! If it doesn't happen it's only cause a part was needed to be ordered! But the problem is always addressed that day! Thanks again Robert for handling my plumbing issue today! I am happy here - I've been here for many years, since 1979. I don't understand that negative comment. This building is very clean and I haven't seen any roaches. Our new manager - Nathan McDermott is doing a great job. He is a very caring person and very friendly. He always has a smile on his face. Issues get addressed right away. I would like to thank Mr. Yoon, Maria, Edgar and Robert for all of their hard work and great attitudes. We now have a monthly event, thanks to Nathan and it is very enjoyable. At Christmas he gave us 2 Christmas trees and other decorations - nice. None of the other managers ever cared to do that, even though I would always ask. I really do enjoy our community and it seems to be getting even better. read more

Great Experience living here. The best part of the building is the manager. All requests are prompty addressed, and they go above and beyond to make sure your day to day goes smoothly. Very solid room that cannot be beat for the price. They have in house maintenance and cleaning that keep the common areas neat. My biggest concern moving to K-town was the roaches - its really hard to keep pests out in Koreatown due to the density, but they treat the outside areas consistently to clear out roaches and other pests and I never had an issue. Honestly confused at the negativity in the reviews. Never had a package stolen, never had issues with maintenance, never had issues with payments. Only downside was that a refrigerator is not included, but it seems to be an artifact of the earlier years of LA rentals where this was the norm. read more

I lived here 2 years and I am happy ... I have no problem with stolen packages like other reviewers say. I never had a problem with the leasing office, also like other reviewers mentioned. Any time I have a question or concern they are helpful and understanding. Yes, there are other occupants who will not care to keep the noice down or make sure to close there balconies when they have gatherings but that's any where. I came from Wilshire Royale, a beautiful historic building but I was paying for a single what I pay for a one bedroom here. The leasing office was rude for sure and you could even listen to them from the elevator being rude to other tenants. Kingsley Plaza is not a non-smoking apartment building so that is why 4 starts. There's a pool which we take advantage of on those hot California days. Central air also helps. The fact that I don't pay extra for parking is also a bonus. Other then that it's going to be hard looking for a place like this in LA. read more

I moved here in July 2011 with my gf, and since I go to school down the street it was in the perfect location (distance-wise). What drew me to this building was that it looked very neat and actually had a website, as opposed to other K-Town buildings.... What's great about this place is that the apartments are huge, and the interiors are laid out well and very clean. I like the large closet and bathroom, open bar and fireplace. We have a one bedroom on the third floor, so we don't hear our neighbors at all. However, we do face into the courtyard, and that's sometimes an issue b/w the barking dogs, smoking, and group meetings people decide to have in there in the middle of the night. With the windows closed, the effects are slightly muted, however. The management is fantastic, they have taken care of each and every concern I've ever had, and the repairs (if any are needed) are done within 24 hours at the latest. The downside is that sometimes you notice that the people who live here really don't take care of the place, which results in spontaneous damage to the building and the interior. I was shocked to find out that despite all the stains in the hallway carpet, it is only 6 years old (and is washed every other week). That being said, the attrition rate is pretty high, so people tend to move in and out often, thereby changing the circumstances before it ever starts to be a problem, and management is always on top of any issues. Parking is not an issue for us at all, since my gf uses the reserved spot and as I drive a bike, I can park it pretty much anywhere. I'd imagine that if you had 2 cars, however, you would have to work something out with management. The pool and jacuzzi are very clean, well kept, and rarely used. Overall, the building is taken care of well and management do their best to keep everything tidy. Kingsley Plaza is the greatest value in this area for sure, as the quality of the apartments themselves and the prices they offer certainly outweighs any drawbacks. The four star rating is relative to most other places I have checked in this area before I moved, and to be totally honest, I have found none that can match the quality and come even close to the price range. For example, Wilshire/Vermont complex right across from my school is newer and fancier, but it goes for almost $2,000 for a one bedroom IN KTOWN! Eventually, it will be time for an upgrade (out of K-Town), but if you work or go to school in this area this is a clean, neat, safe and overall quite place to live. BTW, the lofts in this building are absolutely amazing as they face outside with many showing off the Hollywood sign and the beautiful sunsets! People usually don't move out once they get one... for good reason. read more

I use to be a resident of Kingsley Plaza. I am so very happy I no longer live at this apartment complex. If it was up to me, I would not give one star. The management team are so rude and will not help you if you have complaints. Especially noise issues with other tenants. The entire building have a roach problem with small and large roaches running around all over. I have seen large rats climbing up to the roof. There are bed bugs in the building as well. Some people have moved due to their cars were burglarized and their apartments. Also, ongoing theft of tenants mail. Nothing is ever done to stop thieves from breaking into tenant mailboxes. All the managers do is send a letter informing each tenant of the situation and suggest to check their mail everyday. This is their way of handling the situation. This doesn't solve the mail theft problem. If you are expecting a package and it is left in their office, the managers will never let you know. If not picked up, they will return your package without ever informing you. I caught one of the workers who was part of a working crew, trying to break into my apartment. The managers were immediately informed about this, but of course nothing was ever done about it. They didn't not take it serious at all. All they cared about was making sure the building was ready for an inspection that is done every other year. There is no security at this location at all. Only after a tenant vehicle or apartment has been burglarized is when security is provided for only one or two nights. The management tells the tenants to call an after hours number for help from security. The truth is, the after hours number is only for emergency repairs to fix things in the apartments. They do not provide security to tenants during after hours. I would never recommend anyone to move here. There are too many other choices of places one can move to. I am so happy to be out of Kingsley Plaza. Never have to deal with those two managers again. They are two very rude and unfriendly individuals. You will not get much help from these two. They just rent apartments and maybe have the two repair persons fix some things in the apartments. After things get repaired, you most likely will not like the results. The repair work done by the maintenance workers they hire are usually not the best quality work. I am so happy that I never have to live at Kingsley Plaza again and deal with the on going problems at this apartment complex. read more

Despite the horrible reviews on this apartment complex, I decided to give the place a call because I am looking for a new place and heir website looked more than half decent and the prices were reasonable for LA. I saw how the reviews talked about lost/stolen packages and rude management and I kept those things in mind when calling. Talking to the manager on the phone, I was asking about the amenities provided and I asked if there were refrigerators and he actually snorted and said "no... it's normal for LA" in a flippant tone. I was about to ask about the packages situation and if the apartment complex had taken any measures to prevent stolen packages, but after hearing the derision in his tone and how rude/insulting he was to me, NO THANKS. I did not understand why he had to snort at me and be condescending when I asked a pretty basic question. It has caused me to 100% the other reviews here, so beware. The manager here is not even aware of normal social etiquette/ basic manners and I could see how there could be numerous misunderstandings/issues at this place. read more

Lived here for about five months already and I have some good and bad criticism. Moving in I was so excited because the apartment offers a lot of extras like balconies, fireplaces, and for a one bedroom, 750 square feet. There is a pool and an underground jacuzzi and the managers CAN be helpful. When it comes to complaining I feel they dont do anything but there is a 24 hours security company they have that you can call. On that note, I have called and I am not sure if they come. The biggest issue for me is the upstairs neighbors and the downstairs neighbors. You can hear who is above you which means whoever is under you can hear everything. I get my ceiling floor hit when the people above me are loud since all the vents are connected. If you are a night person, you may get security coming to tell you to be quiet. Laundry is good, never a problem with all the machines being full. Parking kind of stinks since you only get one spot and then 2 hours street parking. Street sweeping is different on both sides of the street too so be careful of that. Overall, if youre single and go out a lot this is a 5 out of 5. If you have a boyfriend and like to spend some nights in, can be rather annoying. read more
