It is rare that we try a new brew store, but when your normal places closes early on a Saturday, you don't have a choice. We weren't bothered by the adjustment in our plans this time. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We don't need much in terms of equipment so I didn't really look at prices but it seemed like they have a lot of options. We happened to bring in a grain bill and they put it together and milled it really quickly. I noticed that they have an email on the wall so they can put together your grains ahead of time. They also have a lot of beer at this location. Prices seemed a little high but the selection seemed to include some rare finds so it might be on par with prices elsewhere. I stopped in looking to speak to an expert and get some advice / suggestions before I start my first batch. Well I got neither. I came in with a pocket full of money looking to get what I needed even if it was more than what amazon was selling as I'm more than happy to keep my local B&M in business if it means I can get advice and information at the same time. Although no one else was in the store the rep wasn't willing to help me in any way what so ever and typically answered my questions with a yes or no. Either he didn't really know how to brew beer or if he did he wasn't concerned with helping me or passing on that info. Just dropped $300 on gear after speaking to a sales rep from homebrewsupply online. Summary: As others have said, the selection is great and the service is exceptional. Scott has created a customer service and support company, which just so happens to be in the business of selling homebrew supplies. Upon leaving the shop, you will be happier and even more excited about brewing. Basics: The store is clean and well organized, has a wide selection of fresh ingredients and kits, and the ability to order the odd things that aren't carried in-stock. Busy or not, the employees always take time to stop and ask if you need help or have questions. It can get a little cramped on a busy Saturday, but luckily they have just announced a pending expansion into the adjacent store (previously a Golf shop). They also have an active and engaging social media presence, often host events in-store on the weekends, and go out of their way to promote other brew-related events in the local community. My experiences: I've been brewing small 1-gallon batches for about a year, and just stepped up to a 5 gallon setup for my last two. The first four batches were kits, which got my feet wet, but I soon discovered the world of recipes available online. This was exciting but also intimidating. On a lark, I emailed the shop to ask about an all-grain recipe that I wondered might be turned into a mini-mash to accommodate my small kettle setup. Within minutes, I had a response from Scott with a recommended conversion, and a no-pressure offer to assemble the recipe for me. While I know now that this is standard-fare for a good homebrew shop, it felt like magic to have this kind of prep work (still does...). I agreed and showed up to find a BeerSmith recipe stapled to a bag with hand-written instructions. I've been "making" my recipes this way ever since, though it feels more like a collaboration. Someday soon I'll personally assemble my grain bill from scratch (and undoubtedly get something wrong :)). Finally: Every once in a while I feel compelled to write a Yelp review, and of those times only seldom do I get off my laurels to actually do it. Really a great place to quickly get a CO2 bottle filled, not just exchanged. I picked up some brew while I was there. It's a win, win.

I gave this place a try...i needed to refill my co2 tank so i stopped by....the person at the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. They have a good assortment of differt styles of bottle beer that they sell...its also very clean inside...but lets get to the homebrew supplies this place has lots of grains, hops and yeast to choose from, they also carry a few different fermenters kettles and burners. About 10 months ago I decided to give homebrewing a try. Started out by going to one of Scotts demos to learn the basics of extract brewing. Next week bought my first beginner equipment kit and a recipe kit. Now I am doing all grain brewing and just made my 28th brew. Windsor homebrew the only shop I will buy my supplies from. Scott has been brewing himself for many years and is always very helpful answering all my silly questions. His shop is very well stocked with everything you may need and he is always there to help you find what you are looking for. When I decide to make a new brew all I need to do is e-mail him my ingredient list and he will pull it all together with the grains properly crushed and ready to go when I get there. I could talk about the amazing events and the community that's been built around this shop - but in reality, this all boils down to one man: Scott. Scott is single-handedly the most friendly and genuine person you'll ever meet. He's extremely passionate and knowledgeable about all things beer, and it really shows. Almost seven days a week he's sharing this passion with everyone who walks through the door. He will do whatever it takes to make you happy - from spending time answering a laundry list of questions, to specially ordering things you need, to helping you put together recipes. He inspires us all, encourages us to brew awesome beers, and probably doesn't even realize yet that he's created a brewing revolution in Orange County. I just started home brewing, but this shop is great. The owner is incredibly helpful and responsive to emails. You can shoot him over an email and your brew ingredients will be waiting for you in a brown bag upon your arrival. The prices here are actually really good too. This review is long overdue. I've been brewing for two years and after I tried it the first time, I jumped on the fast track and got into it quickly. I tried two or three extract batches, then I quickly switched to all grain. I started upgrading my equipment, reading about brewing, trying to perfect my techniques and so on. All my purchasing - equipment, supplies, ingredients - during this period was online due mostly to the fact that the closest home brew shops were miles away. I made the 40+ minute drive to O'Shea's a couple of times but with a little planning, I could order everything online and it was fine. Then I heard about Windsor opening and I was stoked to learn it was only about 10 minutes from me. Now I'm a loyal customer. Scott is a great guy, very welcoming and helpful. His shop has everything you need if you're just starting to learn about brewing, if you're an intermediate brewer like me or if you've been brewing for years. He's got bulk sacks of grain and fermenters in the front of the store, speciality grains, hops and yeast after that. Cleaning supplies, bottle and caps, malt extract, all-in-one brew kits, brewing hardware, kegs, CO2 fills, etc., etc, etc. And he's always available to help answer questions or just talk about beer in general. You can't get that from an online retailer. Also, for quick service, email your grain order and he'll have it ready for you, pre-crushed if you like, when you get there. I think it's important to get behind small business, especially those who do it well. Went there today and the guy helped me put together a couple custom one gallon kits. Great variety of hops, malts and yeast. Tons of equipment. Right next to they huddle bar and ikko. They fill up CO2 for keggerators too. They mill malts on the spot, thats the only way to do it! read more
