COVID-19 Vaccination Site Located in beautiful Kaneohe, the Windward Health Center is an unsung hero. It's like comparing Private School to Public School. If you graduated from Punahou or Harvard, is the education you received better than a degree from Moanalua High School or the University of Hawaii? Something to think about... Anyway...the point is that I was TOTALLY IMPRESSED with the professionalism and courtesy of the staff at Windward Health Center. From the receptionists and record-keepers to the housekeepers and nurses... Each employee did their job flawlessly! The flow of clients and paperwork was ultra smooth and efficient. The logistics were well thought out! Each clipboard had a pen and appropriate forms; coolers were filled with chilled bottles of water; chairs in the waiting area were socially distanced; each injection station was equipped with necessary items; parking lot and exit signs were clear and visible; the facility was clean, open-air, and made use of its natural tropical setting. In this time of uncertainty and anxiety, the staff made my experience super special. Prime example: After receiving the vaccination, each client is given a sticker. I asked, "Is it a Happy Face sticker (because we survived this ordeal)?" Nurse: "No - it's just a sticker with the time that you may leave." I must have had such a disappointed look because she drew a happy face next to my departure time! Haha! Thank you so much! See you again next month for the second dose of Moderna Vaccine! read more

Had a appointment @1pm today for the Covid19 vaccine . Got to the Windward Health Center 5 minutes before my schedule appointment and got out of there at 1:22pm. Very organized and efficient but the only downside was only 2 nurses giving the shot. Yes it was the one shot J&J so I'm glad do t have to worry about getting a second shot I was 5th in line but behind me there was about 15 more customers waiting and more gradually arriving. Social distancing is practice sign well marked and it ran very smoothly. After my vaccination there was a tent where you need to wait for 15 minutes before they release you. There was a person who was passing out bottle water and Gatorade. So far so good no symptoms yet so if you do not see any postings from me that means I had a relapse nah lol. This is a State of Hawaii facility located in Kaneohe. Lots of extra parking out fronting the park. I believe Windward Comprehensive Health Center are the ones hosting Moderna's COVID Vaccine 1st and 2nd dose on site. There are other sites islandwide conducting mass vaccination, I feel like Windward has a smooth comfortable, and extremely safe venue to handle hundreds of people throughout the day.  Temperature check's are done in the beginning, short application to be completed while standing in line, or in the next tented area, brief assessment with an MD, then you sit with a nurse who administers the shot, then another waiting tented area outside as you are held for 15 minutes should a patient have allergic reactions needing medical attention. To complete the process, you'll head to a checkout desk to receive your official vaccination card to be reminded to have it on your person one month later for your 2nd shot.  Staff are on hand ensuring seats and other touch surfaces are sanitized before the next person arrives. Also complimentary cold water bottles and Gatorade is available upon request.  While all cities, states and counties everywhere are experiencing a shortage of vaccine, it's best to make your appointment once you have the opportunity. 2-2-2021 A grateful Tuesday for those with appointments to get their Moderna first vaccines here at Windward Health Center. Had heard from someone who went a few hours before that they were very organized- no joke, the planners had everything set up, organized every step of the process was stream- lined. 1. Once you find a parking stall, head to the building to have your temperature taken. 2. Register at the table to your right/ only ID was needed, not insurance cards as mentioned on the early morning news. 3. You will be sent further to the right to fill out a two-sided form on a clipboard with a pen attached. I made sure to bring my own pen today, germaphobic, you know... 4. Another person will check your completely filled in form and give you a stapled handout of information on the vaccine. 5. A separate person will direct you to one of several chairs to receive your vaccine. I was told that the person standing next to me giving the shot a little past noon had been here since 7:45 a.m. and they expected to administer 1,500 shots. 6. Once a bandaid is placed marking the spot, they write on a tape the time 15 minutes to wait for any reactions. You select a vacant chair til countdown. Beware the canopy that could be filled with rain water that splashingly emptied itself. No one appeared to have gotten wet or splattered but I am so glad I chose a seat on the pavement instead to wait the time out. 7. There was a guy in blue scrubs monitoring the waiters. He looked at my tape on my Disney Cat Lady shirt(I love cute Oliver and sassy Marie from Aristocats) and said, "you can go." 8. Head to the final table to get your vaccination card with the first vaccine information on it. Return for 2 Nd vaccine in about a month. The entire process as well as the injection were pain-free. I never knew this Health Center existed. It's really easy to find on the beautiful Windward side of the island. Today I got my second COVID vaccine shot which I was somewhat looking forward to. I received my first shot several weeks ago and was really impressed with the setup. There is lots of parking and lots of people around to help you navigate safe parking. When you arrive you someone will quickly greet you with a smile and friendly instructions on where to stand and what forms to complete. The forms are easy to follow and not to much information required. All State mandates are fully informed. You go from point A to point B pretty quickly and before you know it your sitting on a chair ready for your shot. The people administering the shots are really nice and friendly. You can tell they are trained to help you relax and make it as painless as possible. Which I really appreciated. Once you had your shot they give you a time sticker and you sit in an open air area with each chair six feet apart. Eventually someone will come and ask you how you are feeling and once your 15 minutes are up you go to the last station where you will receive your vaccination card. When I received notice that I would be going to get my COVID vaccine shot I was worried like most, but when I arrived I was really put at ease with all the friendly faces and smooth process. Thank you to all the frontline workers who are challenged daily and still come to worker everyday with a smile on their face. The Windward Health Center is a vaccination site being used in the state's COVID vaccination roll out. I was fortunate to be vaccinated here today with two of my coworkers and am beyond impressed with how efficiently things were handled from the time we arrived until the time that we left. Upon arrival there was a parking attendant in the Health Center's parking lot advising the lot was full and giving directions to alternative parking options. Once you've parked, you're given directions as to how to check in and social distancing is strictly enforced even amongst groups that arrived together. At check in, you're provided information regarding the vaccine and fill out a brief questionnaire about your medical history to include severe allergic reactions and staff speak with you to gather additional information before you meet with the person administering your vaccination. There are several stations set up for vaccinations and I can't say enough good things about the person who did mine. He took the time to go over my allergic reaction history and spoke to me about what I did for a living, etc. He also expressed how excited and grateful he was to be a part of the vaccine roll-out and he had the perfect bedside manner for a person like me terrified of all things medical. After your vaccinated, staff will observe you for 15-30 minutes depending on your medical history and you're offered beverages and snacks if you need them while you wait. Once you're cleared, you check out and are given your secondary vaccination date. While I know not all staff on hand today work for the Health Center, I know many of them do. I was beyond impressed with the process and how efficient it was as well as how wonderful every staff person/volunteer was that I interacted with. First time here due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It's cool to see other parts of Kaneohe than just Windward Mall and the Kaneohe Bay shopping center, but that's just me. I arrived here on a brisk Tuesday afternoon at around 12:40pm in February 2021. A lot of essential workers from the State of Hawaii was assigned here to get their first COVID-19 vaccinations, myself included, so it was nice to get bumped up in the line. I thought I would be assigned to the general public, so I can get mine closer to home, but as it turns out, nope. I got upgraded! With that being said, we had no problem finding the Windward Health Center, as there was a sign on the highway as you got into Kaneohe from the Pali Highway. There was plenty of parking options, although it was kind of filled up when we got there, but we made due. The entire process took roughly 20 minutes from start to finish, including the waiting time of 15 minutes they say you should chill out before heading back to work or wherever. The process was fast. We checked in and got to fill out a COVID info health declaration form before we proceeded to be administered our vaccinations. Everyone was professional here, which was awesome and appreciated. It was nice to see a lot of people I work with since they decided to go get their vaccinations that day too. The overall experience here at the Windward Health Center was nice, casual, and quick. I guess I was lucky enough to be bundled with the essential state workers, so I could get upgraded. The facility seemed small, but adequate for what the health center needs. There's a nice common area that is nice to hang out in. We had scheduled vaccination times, but in 20/20 hindsight, it was basically come in close to your assigned time and just wait in line. There was no real order to it, but best bet would be to get here early and not late to get the vaccination early or on time and not have to give up your spot to others waiting in line. For the most part though, I had wished that they assigned us to somewhere closer to Honolulu rather than being hauled out into Kaneohe, but I digress. The facility was kind of cool and secluded, which was nice. It's away from the busy streets of Kamehameha Highway and away from the commercial areas to provide the best care possible. Additionally, to giving vaccination services, the center hosts other medical services too. If you are in the area and need medical services, consider coming here to the Windward Health Center in Kaneohe. The Windward Health Center is located at 45-691 Keaahala Road in Kaneohe. It's next to the Kaneohe District Park and about 1 ¼ mile from Windward Mall. Since I was here for a quick vaccination trip and one more scheduled in March 2021 at this location, I feel like the vast majority of medical services here use major insurance carriers, if you use them. As far as parking goes, there's a bunch of parking options here. I'll bet that on a typical day, the parking spaces would be not congested like how it is for COVID-19 vaccinations. So, it'll be nice to find parking here on a typical day and not lacking. If you commute here by bus, your best bet would be routes 60, 61, 65, and 69. Stop off near Windward Mall and walk on over. As the COVID-19 vaccination plans ramps up in 2021, I feel like this is the place where the general public can count on, if they need to. The staff here was nice and somewhat pleasurable. After hanging out 15 minutes just to make sure I had no initial reaction to the vaccine, we checked out and received our COVID-19 vaccination card with our new appointment date. It would be nice to return again soon and have lunch in the area afterwards. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the speedy procedure and 5.0 stars for the service. i have to give highest rating to this agency because of the outstanding service from the woman who answers the main switchboard call number, she is an operator and we were having trouble registering for a program that WHC is partnering with but not managing so they require you go thru a website. however it is very diffiicult to even find the right website, apparently this operator had received calls from Kupuna that were lost and not tech savvy and frustrated, she could have just referred us back to the website, or elsewhere , but instead she had researched herself and shared some very valueable info that resulted in an elderly local woman getting the health services she needed Windward you have a gem, if there is a way to clone her please do, or if can promote her without losing her "can-do" go-the-extra-mile presence on the phone suggest you do so read more
