My husband & I dined here and he was thoroughly pleased since he's a Chicago native. The menu items and decor pay homage to famous Chicago landmarks and residents. The TVs were playing Chicago baseball games, so that set the scene for nice ambiance. I ordered a deep dish sausage pizza and thought it was ok. The crust was kinda crumbly. My husband loved the Italian beef so much that he ordered one to-go. I tried it as well and thought it was odd that they melted the cheese to the bread rather than over the meat. However, I loved the Giardiniera peppers and sprinkled some on my pizza. The service was great as the server was very attentive.

We happened to be nearby at the Safari Wild Preserve so we decided to check out the Windy City Grille in Como. Got there after the College Football afternoon crowd left and before the evening dinner crowd rolled in, so I suspect the wait staff was just trying to catch their breath. Even so, we were seated immediately. My son got a bacon pizza and it was loaded with bacon. I mean like if he were my age, he'd go into cardiac arrest. He loves bacon pizza so this was a hit! I had the Al Capone Italian Beef which was palatable but not to die for. My wife had a burger and they forgot the grilled onions....on the plate but not on the bill. I didn't want to be one of those people who nitpicked so I let it go. Daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs off the kids' menu but there was only one meatball so a little misleading in the advertising dept. More importantly, the sauce was a tad bit watery. And it had some green parley? on top? Kids don't really like that stuff so it's probably best to either list it on the menu or just not do it. Overall, I would like to visit again and try some other items, especially if I can watch Chicago sports live. But in terms of satiating my Chicago cravings, the cuisine falls a little short.

Poor service and the scallops were so overlooked they were like rubber. I wouldn't eat there again if it were free.

I don't know why, I'm just cool and mysterious like that. They didn't have the full lunch menu available today, they only had a lunch plate special. And damn what a plate it was. 2 pieces fried chicken, mashed potatoes, greens, and a biscuit. The fried chicken had a sauce over it that was very reminiscent of Uncle Lou's sweet spicy love sauce but with less of the heat. That's a good thing for our table because one of the kids is not a spicy fan. Think I'm gonna need a DNA test on that one because I don't know what's up with that. In addition to the lunch counter there is also a full butcher shop with many different cuts of pork and beef. Prices seemed pretty reasonable as well and although I didn't get anything from the butcher I'll bet it's a damn sight better than what you'll get at Kroger. Everyone we dealt with (okay there were only 2 people, the lady at the register and the guy cooking) was very friendly, checking in without a few times throughout the meal, asking if it's our first time (it was) and welcoming us. Insider it's a cute country store vibe with some various sun dried in addition to the meats and lunch counter like soap, honey, I think I saw bags of grits.....

Since I grew up a hop, skip, and jump away from Como, off of Highway 310 in Marshall County, I was eager to check out the farm store on one of my upcoming visits back home. I finally got to stop by this past weekend, and I ordered takeout for lunch on Sunday, which consisted of 4 smoked brisket sandwiches, 2 wedge salads, 2 orders of egg rolls, a basket of French fries, and 3 slices of chocolate pie. The customer service I received during my visit was superb, and I throughly enjoyed the butcher shop meets Hill Country cafe vibes in the dining area while I waited for my food to be prepared. Once I got back to my mom's house, I realized both salads came with bacon, which meant the pescatarian in our family couldn't eat her meal. Other than that small hiccup, everything else was phenomenal! My family raved about the smoke brisket sandwiches, and I really enjoyed the egg rolls, wedge salad, French fries, and slice of chocolate pie that I ate. Overall, a great experience, and I look forward to stopping by again in the future when I'm back home in North Mississippi.
