We had a blast at the game Tuesday. They had $2 tickets and $2 parking. They also gave out buy one get one coupons for White Castle and Raising Canes. The staff is very nice and prices are reasonable. The field is taken care of and fans are passionate about their players. I will definitely be back.

Let's play ball! Sadly, it's only a 7 inning game at this minor league baseball field! Anyways, I don't really go to minor league games, but I like this stadium. It might be small, but the service is excellent, and the staff are very nice and friendly! It's your average baseball game layout. The entertaining races of the horses happen. There is a concession stand. At the end of the baseball field, there is a bounce house for the kids, and those kids love it! There is a suite for birthday parties on their 2nd floor. The executive suite is very nice. It's small and there isn't much room, but there is plenty of seating. Outside seating is also available in the executive suite. Everyone that was with me loved it! The food was pretty good. The Italian beef was tender and tasty! The staff put cheese in the refrigerator for cheese for the Italian beef. The pizza came from Beggar's and it was thin crust. It was delicious. Great sauce and great crust! The chips with the salsa and dip were great! All in all, great service and great food! I will be back!

Now called Standard Bank Field. Went to game, ok, good value, lots of parking. Lots of fun. One constructive suggestion - While waiting in line to buy tickets, they only had one line open with 20 people in line, then they opened a second line 10 minutes later! Could be more "on the ball" during ticket sales, maybe have someone out front, directing people to the open booth (s). Seems like a lot of high school kids working, which in itself is not bad but maybe could have some more mature people in critical customer assistance areas! Go Bolts!!

BUT, only one set was being used as an entrance because otherwise, the doors of the other entrance would have opened right into people. The corner table was right there. Eventually, someone opened one side of the set, but it was not convenient, by any stretch. Service was speedy and food was very good.

Movie Experience: The movie was showing in screen/theater 1 and it had a decent layout. The row I was in had an empty area in the middle and I wonder why it was structured that way. Definitely could've filled the middle area with more seats, but no one was next to me on the right which was great. Movies with Tom Cruise never disappoint and totally recommend watching the movie. There were some really interesting & enlightening displays in the Discovery Museum building showing you where coffee is grown, how its harvested, basically, everything from baby bean to coffee cup. IKEA had a "lounge" set up there offering samples of their products and coffees, as well as store catalogs to help bring in business. ( Oh well, they were a major sponsor) Cheatham Hall is where the action was though. Over a dozen vendors from cafes/roasters, artists, & publications. It was great to see demonstrations, learn about new trends in brewing, and especially, try new coffees!! In my opinion the big winners of the event, other than coffee junkies, were Longbottom Coffee & Tea Inc, & Portland Roasting Coffee. Not only did they have the best coffees at the fair, their staff was more than willing to talk about their roasting and brewing, as well as talk about new products, & just have friendly coffee chit-chat! For future reference, if any of you other vendors are reading my review, the best way to bring in new business, & try to get new customers interested in your products is to be kind to them. Talk with them. Not bark at them that there is only 2 bags left of the beans you brought for sale, or on the opposite side of the spectrum, ignore them after they told you, "I'm sorry, no I haven't tried your coffee before". Anyway, the fair was great fun..... hopefully I'll be there for the next one!

The entry/exit doors at every other rink are motion sensor activated electric sliders. At Southwest, every hockey player has to try to fling open a door and run through with their equipment bag. Bathrooms are filthy and disgusting with water damaged ceiling tiles and mold. Forget about soap. The seating area of the rink is freezing because of the poorly designed architecture; the cooling equipment has to work extra hard to fill up that much space. You'll be sitting on cement slabs. At many other rinks there is enclosed seating, a much better food counter, and some even have restaurants and full bars. The prices they charge for "food" here are comical. They won't even spend the money to have their sign lit at night. It's broke, and they aren't fixing it. Ever. It's embarrassing as that's the first impression they make on a new visitor. You can easily drive past it. Also the parking lot is dangerous to the suspension of any vehicle other than a full size truck or SUV. It will destroy your car. Southwest refuses to spend any money on repaving. It's also located in Crestwood, which is a cesspool. There are no places nearby where you could actually eat and feel safe. Enjoy the piss bums from the liquor store next door. It's a shame because 40 years ago it was probably a nice rink. But clearly whoever owns Southwest is more concerned with lining their pockets than pride in ownership. Filthy, dated, and uncomfortable are the three words that best describe Southwest Ice Arena.

Welcome to the world of the ECHL where anything is possible. The Sears Centre is home to a new hockey club (Chicago Express) where if you want to hear the slashing sounds on the ice or the roaring whistle of a train as a goal is scored; you are more than welcome. Chicago has been lucky enough to be granted with three levels of professional hockey and this is definitely no exception. An Affiliate of the NHL's Blue Jackets, the Express skate with determination and skill that make it perfect to watch while they are growing as professional players. The venue itself isn't overly large and offers pretty much a decent seat from both sides of the rink. The Sears Centre suits the bill for holding the sounds of the ice and the crowd without making you think there could be a concert the next night. Because the Express club is still so fresh and so clean, seats are readily available for every game. We're talking, if you wanted to be bangin' on the glass come this Saturday (or when the next home game is) you'll probably find out that your luck--is in tact. For this particular outing, I ended up sitting rows behind the benches for which I have to admit...I am skeptical and should have opted for the other side but couldn't for the life of me get the ticket site figured out. Ten rows up from the ice is still a pretty sweet view--even if you're somewhat behind the benches. The crowd has taken the Express to heart already which is very warming, because they are a brand new franchise. Loud cat calls, whistles and screams to skate to the center is something that will be of a common fixture for the night. Tickets are definitely affordable. To sit in the lower 100 level tickets start as low as $17, and sitting behind the glass if that is your fancy is only $25. For anyone in need of getting a hockey fix this is a great option to choose from. Parking itself is standard for the Centre, look to spend about $10 to park easily across the way from the arena entrance.
