If you are looking to have a great time at a baseball game, and not having to pay thousands of dollars at Wrigley Field, or that other stadium on the south side of Chicago, a Windy City Thunderbolts game at Ozinga Field is a good bet, as it is a minor league stadium. I was there for today's 10:35 am game with the New York Boulders, they play night games and day games, and sometimes 10:35 am on a weekday morning, they only have won more weekday 10:35 first pitch for this season and that is tomorrow morning with the same team, and they have games in August at home. Good value for entertainment, close parking, lots of concession choices, free fireworks on the weekends, but seating is a free-for all. Tickets are for specific seats, but people think nothing of sitting wherever they want. If you get up to use the restroom or buy food, there will likely be others in your seats when you return. Here is the review I wrote for Standard Bank Field in 2014, which is what this team is. While sponsorship has changed from Standard Bank to Ozinga - this is still a neat venue. Neat baseball venue in the south suburbs. We have been here to see the Windy City Thunderbolts play and various super-sectionals for the Illinois State High School association. Always a fun place and very clean. Good security too. Seats 3,200 in this minor league field...currently home to the Frontier League Thunderbolts. When it is the Thunderbolts you get reasonably priced hot dogs and beer. You have to pay for parking - but come on, it is only $2.00 per car. Tickets for the games are just $10.00 and you can reserve your seats online. They have some sort of event between each inning - like T-shirt launches and the like. The whole organization makes for a fun night of baseball. No booze for the high school events. But IHSA has been scheduling the super-sectionals here for the last few years. Great venue for a high school game. Give this place a try one day. The other Frontier League field in the area is Silver Cross Field in Joliet - it seats more patrons but is not as close to the action...it is set up more like a professional baseball park. Standard Bank seats fewer patrons but the seating is closer to the action. Either way make sure to give this one a try this summer - you'll be glad you did. read more

We had a blast at the game Tuesday. They had $2 tickets and $2 parking. They also gave out buy one get one coupons for White Castle and Raising Canes. The staff is very nice and prices are reasonable. The field is taken care of and fans are passionate about their players. I will definitely be back. read more

Let's play ball! Sadly, it's only a 7 inning game at this minor league baseball field! Anyways, I don't really go to minor league games, but I like this stadium. It might be small, but the service is excellent, and the staff are very nice and friendly! It's your average baseball game layout. The entertaining races of the horses happen. There is a concession stand. At the end of the baseball field, there is a bounce house for the kids, and those kids love it! There is a suite for birthday parties on their 2nd floor. The executive suite is very nice. It's small and there isn't much room, but there is plenty of seating. Outside seating is also available in the executive suite. Everyone that was with me loved it! The food was pretty good. The Italian beef was tender and tasty! The staff put cheese in the refrigerator for cheese for the Italian beef. The pizza came from Beggar's and it was thin crust. It was delicious. Great sauce and great crust! The chips with the salsa and dip were great! All in all, great service and great food! I will be back! read more

One constructive suggestion - While waiting in line to buy tickets, they only had one line open with 20 people in line, then they opened a second line 10 minutes later! Could be more "on the ball" during ticket sales, maybe have someone out front, directing people to the open booth (s). Seems like a lot of high school kids working, which in itself is not bad but maybe could have some more mature people in critical customer assistance areas! Go Bolts!! read more

Baseball game? Nah, I was here for a concert. Basically that means take this review with a grain of salt. Before a few weeks ago, I don't believe I'd ever heard of Crestwood, let alone traveled there. But when one of your favorite bands decides to play in BFE, you do what you gotta do. Standard Bank Field is the home of the Windy City Thunderbolts, a professional(?) minor league baseball team. When the team is traveling, the stadium is used for other events, like concerts. Acoustically, it's not the greatest, but there's still a lot going for it. Tickets are cheap, as is beer. Speaking of beer, don't go expecting craft beer. This is Bud Light country all the way. The most exotic beers offered were Stella Artois and Goose Island. The concession stand has the usual ballpark fare, but despite the signs proclaiming "no outside food," they didn't bat an eye when we strolled in carrying huge Italian beef sandwiches from Portillo's. And while we're on the subject of Portillo's, why does the one in Crestwood have an armed security guard? Anyway, my point is this place is relaxed and casual. You're also technically not allowed to smoke in the stands, but that sure didn't stop anybody from lighting up cigarettes or perhaps something else (oh, but I'm sure it was medical marijuana, so no worries). Parking is dirt cheap, setting one back only $2. Cheap tickets, beer, and parking make for an inexpensive and fun night out, even if we did have to turn on our GPS to get here. Would I come back? It's unlikely unless my favorite band decides to make Standard Bank Field a regular destination for shows. It was a nice change of pace though. read more

This is my second favorite baseball stadium in the Chicago area. It is a close second to US Cellular (aka Comisky) and I like it much better than Wrigley Field. This stadium is home to the Windy City Thunderbolts which is a semi-pro team. You are not going to get the quality of baseball that you normally will get at a MLB stadium (not counting the Cubs) but it a fun place to go. The teams are a bunch of kids looking to develop their skills and get picked up in a MLB farm system. The stadium is not very big but every seat is a winner. The most expensive ticket price is $8 for a box seat. The beer and food is also very reasonably priced and they have a great beer garden in the outfield patio area. You can go here for a little bit of fun at the ballpark and not break the bank. read more

I dig it. Crestwood is a nice drive from my home, but I'm glad I made this drive. Although I didn't come here to see a baseball game, I did get to enjoy it's friendly environment. The concession stands were pretty quick and not that expensive. They offered cheap cotton candy, pizza, pretzels, and even Stella beer on tap. I had fun while attending a performance from a Beatles Tribute band. I would love to come back and see a ball game here. First time coming here! Came here on a Thursday for a Thunderbolts game with the family and I can't believe how beautiful this place is and how close it is to home. Prices are cheap but the experience you get is well worth the price. Great seats anywhere you sit at in my opinion. My favorite part about this place is about how crowd interactive they are and engaged with the fans every half inning. The game goes by fast, they sell beer past the 7th inning. Great family fun for cheap! Tickets are under 10 dollars a person. The food is cheaper than you would think for a ballgame. Funnel cake fries, mozzarella sticks, nachos and much of their food and drinks are under 5 bucks a piece and are generally a good size. They often have theme days throughout the summer months; Disney princess night, Christmas in July, pet night, etc. every Saturday night game has amazing fireworks afterwards! This is a review of the Ultimate Driving Events that was held on August 19, 2012 by the Standard Bank Field. I can't find it on Yelp so I'll post it here. I bought my boyfriend a Groupon to test drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini for his birthday. The test drive consisted of three laps with a professional instructor in the parking lot next to the stadium. He got to learn about how to drive the car from the instruction and there was a part on the track that was straight so he could give it some power and feel its effects. Everyone that we interacted with was friendly and he really enjoyed his experience. Ladies, if you see Groupons like these, grab them and take your man! If he's a car guy (like mine is) then he will really enjoy it! As for the Stadium itself, we used the bathrooms and let's just say that the ladies one needed a little bit of work. read more

We went here as a group and rented the sky box. Perfect for small parties. One room was open air and the other room was air-conditioned so it was perfect. We got our own waitress that was very nice and kept checking on us often. We got pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks. It also happened to be Elvis night! So there was a wonderful Elvis impersonator there! He took pictures with the kids. The sky box package also included that we could send someone from our group out to do the first pitch!!! This place is a rip off. First off I could have bought tickets for a real southside team cheaper that what they are charging. This place charges to park unlike other minor league stadiums. We went on free meal for kids day but walk up to the concession stand and was told i had to go to the other one to wait in line as they don't honor the free meal coupon. Then when we get up there got a free hot dog but had to pay for the what was on the ticket as free soda. And o wait you want to buy fries, its on our menu but you have to go stand in line at the other concession stand as this one doesn't do fries. We get our hotdogs and no condiments in sight. Wasn't about to stand in line again. Then the kids zone you had to pay for. We paid for it and some kid go hurt really bad because they were under staffed and no one was watching the kids is what the girl told us. So it got closed down. read more

We visited the Thunderbolts last night as they played the Miners and unfortunately lost to them 8-3. This was my first time at this park and a baseball game in general in quite a few years. I have to say we had a great time and it was very inexpensive entertainment. Game tickets were only $9.00 with very reasonable concessions. I.E. hot dogs only $2.00 super large great tasting pretzel only $3.50. At the game we were greeted and welcomed at the gate as well as thanked for our attendance upon leaving. There were free tee shirts tossed into the crowed between innings, as well as other fan contests too. There were fireworks after the game and quite frankly I did not expect much considering the low admission price, HOWEVER...the fireworks were awesome ! and worth every penny we paid. We found the stadium to be very clean and easy access to restrooms and concessions. I highly recommend a visit to this stadium for a economical evening out with friends or family. read more
