Super cute cafe with friendly staff serving up delicious food, coffee, and a variety of fresh baked goods. We stopped in for a quick bite and coffee after hiking at 5 rivers. We arrived after lunchtime so we avoided the rush. You order at the counter and take a seat. Staff will bring your order to the table when it's ready. Our order was ready in about 10-minutes. Nancy and my mom ordered the cup of New England Clam Chowder ($6) and I decided on one of their specials - the Chicken Florentine Quesadilla ($14) and a medium coffee. They had 6 different coffee varieties to choose from including decaf but there were only two regular options remaining and were running low. The chowder was hot and delicious. My quesadilla was also hot and had great flavor. The only thing they could have done better is grill the tortilla shell a little longer so that it's more crispy. It was more on the limp side, but still good regardless. The staff bake up a ton of muffins and other yummy looking baked goods daily. Although we didn't try any today I would definitely return to try them next time I'm back in the area. All-in-all, a great spot to stop for breakfast, lunch, or quick snack. read more

The food was SO yummy and inviting! We ended up ordering more than we could eat because the display case of pastries was so beautiful and the flavors sounded too good to pass up! I ordered the Irish coffee, hot chocolates for the kids, regular drip coffee, kids breakfast waffes with sausage, Emma's stuffed French toast, a cheeseburger, a bacon egg and cheese burger all with fries. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was SO good! The staff were friendly patient and helpful. The atmosphere was very homey and cozy. There was plenty of space for everyone to be seated and others to walk around and there is seating outside in two different sections which was great! Everyone at this cafe was as old or older than me. It does seem like an old school style cafe. Supposedly known for their muffins, I tried one of their pistachio flavored ones and was a little underwhelmed. It was an unnatural hue of green and tasted of artificial flavoring. Coffee was decent. Checked the menu and it consisted of classic sandwiches with a small section dedicated to "Irish" specialties- Emma - cold corned beef sandwich with Swiss Cheese, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on marble rye. I stopped in based on the pic of all the yummy baked goods, & I'm glad I did. The raspberry mocha latte was divine--I could taste the flavors and not just coffee. The cranberry orange scone was also pretty darn tasty. The star of the show was the pistachio muffin, however, with wonderful pieces of nuts and a lovely green color. Honey feel and friendly staff. I was in the area on a business trip. My customer recommended Emma Cleary's for lunch. The Impossible burger and onion ring basket was awesome! The onion rings were dipped in a nice batter that had a slightly sweet taste. The portion was about 2x what I could consume. If I was staying overnight I would have taken them with me. The Impossible burger was cooked just right (it can get dry if cooked too long). The bun was fresh and had a buttery flavor to it. The food was great. But I really liked the genuine, warm country charm of the staff. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I'm angling for another visit to my customer. If I get back to this area I am definitely eating at Emma Clary's again. PS: As I was leaving I had to get a picture of their sign at the register!! It said everything about their attitude. How adorable was this place? Our local friends took us here after a short trip to Thacher park. We didn't have a lot of time and all wanted different things, perfect. Since it was a lovely fall day we sat on their lovely patio. They also have a porch. Portions were quite large, watch those French fries. They are very crispy and delicious so you will Eat too many. Yikes. Service was quick. Two small critiques: EVERYTHING is disposable. I have a very hard time eating somewhere that creates so much waste. It's 2019 and I take conservation very serious. The other issue is my salmon burger wasn't so good. I'm pretty sure it had lots of filler in it (bread crumbs?). It wasn't a great burger. My friends' lunch was so large they took half home. My family and I have been getting take out here once a week for the past year. The portions are huge and the prices are low. love food, so if a place has generous portions and the prices are good too, it is a hit. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, should I have any requests for preparing something differently. Call thirty or more minutes ahead if you're hungry, or you can get a bowl of soup while you wait. The pastries are great. This was our family's first visit to Emma Cleary's. There were plenty of available tables and a nice amount of space. There were several families eating with young children, and it was a good environment for them. The menu for breakfast was pretty standard - eggs, toast, waffles, etc. My family had two kids' meals of Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, and two regular breakfast meals (eggs, toast, French toast, bacon, etc.). The kids loved the waffles. Each of our meals was lovely presentation, but I found the food underwhelming. I thought that my scrambled eggs were tasteless and that the potatoes were bland, at best. It was fine. Not terrible, but not great... fine. Would I return? Perhaps. The lunch offerings looked more interesting than the breakfasts, so I would try that. Also, since the rest of my family really enjoyed their meals, I could be outvoted next time, anyway. Also, note that this cafe doesn't take credit cards - as most of us move farther away from carrying cash all the time, that's something worth noting before you go. Last summer, I was tasked with the responsibility of throwing a shower for a girlfriend at my house in Albany. If you know me, and probably to my husband's chagrin, I love to entertain. I started to call around to local caterer's in my area, some that were EXTREMELY highly recommended and you know what? They were either booked or so incredibly pricey. I didn't see the point. Emma Cleary to the rescue! Not only were their prices on their goods reasonable, but their food was ready in a timely manner, fresh and delicious. Their quiches are my absolute favorite. The food was such a hit that I used them again for another shower a few months later! The restaurant is a cute farm-like establishment and is always buzzing with families on the weekends. I know I need to get here and try some of their other menu options and I definitely plan to in the future. A bright and cheery cafe, Emma's has a little for everyone. Today I stopped by for take out. I ordered an iced coffee with vanilla flavoring and a Reuben. They don't have espresso drinks like lattes or cappuccino so I knocked off a star. But they offer payment using a card now, so that was a relief. The real attraction is their baked goods. I got a kick out of their shark cupcakes. Everything looked delicious and fresh. My coffee was good despite it not being a latte: smooth and not acidic. I used less milk than expected and it was tasty. My Reuben was also good. Served on fresh marbled rye it had lots of sauerkraut and meat. My only critique is they scrimped on the Thousand Island rendering the sandwich a little bland for me. Despite the cafe being packed and being busy, my to-go order was ready in 5 minutes. Impressive. I liked this cafe for its quality and convenience. My two items were $11 so a little pricey, but I am glad to have a coffee place near work. My preference is for ethnic foods generally or fusion foods, but a solid cafe offering American cuisine in a clean, traditional cafe setting surely will be handy for family visits also. read more

Let me just say- the food is great. The breakfast sandwich and coffee deal for 5.00 is worth it! I definitely recommend getting a breakfast sandwich on the croissant. The weird part- we came in at around 8 am on a Tuesday (they open at 7) and the woman at the counter seemed new so she was asking questions to another older woman working there. This woman (maybe the owner?) seemed INCREDIBLY unhappy to be helping us. There was no one else in the restaurant, and it wasn't even RIGHT when they opened. She was very short, asking us if we were eating there or to go, and very annoyed. When we ordered two lattes, it was very obvious that she was not happy to be making them. I think I saw her eyes roll so hard at the mere thought of making them. If you do not want to make lattes, don't have them on the menu (sidebar- the lattes were awesome- try the snickerdoodle if you can handle the aggressive side-eye). We weren't ready to order as soon as we stepped up to the counter, so maybe that was it? But again, empty restaurant. It was a very weird experience. I love Emma cleary's. Wow I wish it was next to my office, I'd seriously go there everyday. Delicious sandwiches wraps and salads. They even have some unique sandwiches which are amazing. My personal favorite is the chicken salad... It's the best I've ever eaten. I have no idea how they do it, but it's seriously unreal. Amazing. In their sandwiches they use baby greens instead of crappy lettuce which is a nice touch. Don't expect a little sandwich either, these are no chain sandwiches they are large with much better ingredients. Good value as well,around $6.50 a sandwich. Soups are homemade and great too!! THIS CAFE IS GREAT. I love everything about Emma Cleary's. My family comes here every weekend to eat. Something you defintley must try, a cannoli. they are dipped in chocolate or loaded with chocolate chips and they are unlike any other. Every time i have gone I get the same sandwich called The Castle Bar. Unfortunately I think this sandwich is only limited time but it is one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had. The garlic mayonnaise and the toasted focaccia bread is really what makes the sandwich. Also, on the side I got a cup of New England clam chowder which was very thick and creamy but unfortunately not really that warm and I did not get crackers or a pickle on the side of my sandwich but the food tasted so great I didn't notice until I saw the picture in the end that I was supposed to have a pickle on the side. read more

I don't know what restaurant the other reviewers were in but this was the worst I've gone to in ages. Cute? Cafeterias have more charm. The only concession made to the corona virus was masks. Tables were dirty, staff leaned on the counters with no regard to cleanliness, plastic coated menus for everyone that wanted to look at a menu. All shared with anyone that looked at a menu. Outside even worse. Dirty railings, dirty tables, dirty building and porch floor. Ketchup brought out in a big bottle and left on the table. Food only fair. My daughter asked for crispy bacon and it was far from crispy. She couldn't eat it. I am not a complainer but I was very sorry we stopped at this place to eat. If you are worried about cleanliness or getting the virus do not stop here. I've eaten at three other restaurants since the area opened for indoor service and they were all fine. My husband and I entered the cafe a few minutes before 11:00 am on a Saturday. We approached the order counter where the was a table with a stack of breakfast menus. There was one man in front of us placing an order and he asked the counterperson if he could still order breakfast. The counterperson asked someone in the kitchen and then she told the man that he could order breakfast so he did. Then she looked at me and told me that we could not order breakfast so we turned around and left. I don't know if they have a policy of not taking breakfast orders at or after 11:00am sharp. Maybe they do. But it was literally 11:00 on the dot when we stepped up to order. It was just really rude. Not to mention there was not a single person in line behind us. I've eaten here a handful if times in the past. Food is generally ok but nothing to write home about. Except for the one time lady summer when I ordered a salad to go. When I got it home and started eating it I could feel I was chewing on dirt and sand and spit it out. i looked through the lettuce and it was filthy! I called the cafe and was told that they must've gotten the lettuce from a different supplier that day, as they normally pay extra for pre washed lettuce. They did apologize for their mistake & told me the next time I came in they would refund my money or give me a free salad. Really? The person who took the lettuce out if the box couldn't tell that the lettuce was filthy or have the forethought to wash it? Gross. I'm mot quite sure why I ever ate there again (or tried to). Boy do they roll out the carpet for fathers day. There menu consisted of fried egg sandwich, with a choice of bacon or sausage. Wouldn't want to over extend your self. While on the subject of Emma's.
