Travis at Humboldt Renovation and Design is someone you can trust and gets the work done in a…read moretimely manner. I found Travis through the Yelp "My projects" section where I was trying to find a contractor to help us fix a leak in our guest bedroom. We couldn't find where the leak was coming from and I was trying to get price estimates from different contractors to solve the problem. Most of the contractors said they couldn't give a real estimate till they started doing the full project which seemed understandable. What stood out about Travis though is that he made the effort to say for $100 he would assess the issue by cutting out a piece of my drywall and give me a proper estimate. My fiancé and I were on board and happy to see someone take initiative like Travis. Travis then went on to find a pinhole leak in one of our old copper pipes and he right away gave us an estimate that was much more reasonable than other contractors we spoke with. Travis went on to fix our leaky pipes and found out that we replaced the wrong pipe. There was a pipe above the one we saw that was actually the cause of the leak. Travis messaged me and said that he would only charge for the additional pieces (no additional labor for his work), which was super generous and understanding of him. We got this repair done and out of the way in an efficient manner thanks to Travis' diligence. My fiance and I are now having Humboldt Renovation help us replace carpet in our house for "hardwood" vinyl, replacing our shower, and putting in a new dryer vent. I additionally want to add that I has also asked him to replace both of our garage door openers which we signed up to do and later on found out it was covered through our home warranty program. Even though I already signed for Travis to do the work, he was very understanding and let us get the repair done instead by our home warranty service. Humboldt Renovation and Design will be the only contractor we will be using around our house. He is a great person with a sweet family and does great work. Thank you Travis!!!

I was pleasantly surprised that the the owners of Humboldt Handyman responded to my email so quickly. I am thinking that all the handymen are quite busy after the earthquake. The owners came over to our house to assess the damage. The are professional and friendly. The following day they sent over a crew member who was very skilled, conscientious, and personable. He attached the bookcase to the wall quickly and confidently. I am very impressed with Humboldt Handyman. I will call them again if we have work for them. I enthusiastically recommend them!

A few years ago my wife and I bought and moved into an old farmhouse on the edge of town. The place…read morewas on a post and pier foundation and was no longer level. Two Richter 6 earthquakes when the ground was saturated caused the pier at the Northeast corner of the house to settle a further 3 inches. We hired DCI to level the house, put a perimeter concrete foundation under it and brace all the supports under the center of the house to make it stronger when the next shaker comes. The work was started sooner than I expected and while the weather did not cooperate the crew worked in the rain except when it was just too wet. While there are problems in trying to undo a century or more of settling in just a few weeks, when they were done the place was definitely more level than when we moved in. More importantly we know that a big quake can't knock the old house off its feet like what happened to so many houses in Rio Dell in the recent quakes. The cost was less than we expected and so was the damage to the landscaping. We consider it a great investment and a great value for our money. Thank you DCI for a great job!
