Along the wall, the wine is sorted into fun categories such as "Miami summer", "wine for pasta", and "a love letter to Argentina". We ended up buying a unique bottle to give as a gift. While the husband is the sommelier, his wife does the food program. We weren't hungry so didn't try anything, but are looking forward to returning. This is a wonderful family owned business to support if you love good wine and are in the area.

The back is huge and has several sitting areas, including on an elevated porch with fans, as well as couches and bistro tables set up on the pavers down below. There is foliage everywhere and you feel transported (you'd have no clue this business was on a busy road). We got a couple of bottles of wine from their fridges, along with a smattering of shareable dishes from the kitchen (ordered inside). Everything was delightful and we were loving life (again- even in the humid summer heat!). I'd definitely return and enjoy the interior next time. Love a good wine and nosh spot and this is solidly at the top of my list when visiting Miami!

Ruka Winewood has been on my radar for a while and I recently found out they have happy hours between 6-9pm, so what a better opportunity to give it a try. For a Wednesday night, they had a fair number of customers. I sampled their happy hour red blend pour. It was mid body, somewhat complex but low on tannins which allowed for easy and smooth drinking. The fruit content was moderate. It was the perfect wine for an early night, to sip and hang out with friends. I pretty much enjoyed the two glasses I had. Service was not the best to be honest. During the 1 hour I was there, no one checked on me. No one asked me if I wanted more wine, water or another pizza, etc. I was hopping to have their charcuterie board paired with wine, but they had no charcuterie. I asked for the pizza options and hey only had one out of the 3 options on the menu, only the cheese pizza. The pizza is not the best looking pizza, but it tasted delicious. The cheese was sort of smokey, that was delish. I would have that pizza again. Summarizing, I'm coming back pretty soon for their red wine, at $5/glass, you can't beat that up, specially when it is such high quality. I hope they have the charcuterie next time.

It sounded like she really took time and care into curating this lovely event. Overall there were 16 tables with anywhere from 4-10+ wines to try from all around the world. I think it's so cute how they also have a scavenger hunt and loved that the first table was a spin-the-bottle. Very creative. The special prices for the wines were also a great touch along with tags describing the wines as, "old school," or "delicioso." The selection of wines in the store was just as impressive as the ones being showcased for the event. All in all, this is a great establishment that also holds wonderful events.
