    Love the Gardens!!

I'm so happy we found this Motel! When we arrived late on a Tuesday Night I was worried it the neighborhood was a little sketchy, but felt good about the quaint atmosphere of the Lodge, and Check in went quick, easy and friendly. Then I saw our basic little Room still wasn't too sure about it. But each morning we woke up in a comfortable bed with beautifully maintained gardens outside our window. We would walk to the Breakfast area in our comfy clothes for coffee and a complimentary little breakfast to get our day started. My Man wished there was a coffee maker in the room, but I enjoyed the stroll, the Napa Valley weather, and smelling the flowers. I will say, they need a FASTER coffee maker, sometimes a line would form! By the time we left on Friday I was smitten with the neighborhood, it was beautiful and close to everything we needed. I would definitely stay there again, and you can't find a better deal in the area.

A solid 4 and a half, very impressed and still can't get over the fact even three weeks after the fact that we scored a room here (albeit significantly in advance and via Expedia) for about 80ish bucks a night during a recent visit for a wedding, when seemingly all of the other guests were paying upwards of 400 a night for comparably humble digs! Add to that the location was mere minutes (2-4 by car 15-20 by hoof) from thriving downtown Napa. Now tack on the facts that said room was clean, renovated and relatively nicely and modernly furnished, while the exterior completely retains its gloriously mid century Americana roadside motel un-renovated greatness. Also while the location is relatively hard by the highway it nevertheless still affords views of lovely Napa Valley mountainous vistas and gorgeous skies from seemingly every angle of the parking lot. Finally, the staff was uniformly sweet as pie and let us know that Elvis Presley Marlyn Monroe and other icons have stayed here during the course of its storied history. So, yeah this place is pretty awesome all around, even aside from the insanely low price, particularly comparatively that one can attain here.

********************* 1499 ********************** Found it on Kayak for $100 a night, when their website was $175, now that's a steal. We just need a quick night to stay while attending a work event, when other hotels nearby was $300. Wine Valley Lodge is located in a residential neighborhood, just 1 story and all rooms facing to the center pool. PROS: - The room was spacious - with a new TV - Fridge - Microwave is a bonus. - 2 FREE bottled water - Nice bathroom amenity - Nice and new mirrors in the bathroom/bedroom - Bathroom was recently remodeled (room # 44) - Hot water working fine in my room - Fairly quiet at night - Easy check in and check out - FREE basis breakfast/coffee if you get up before 10 AM - 5 minutes drive to downtown Napa - FREE WiFI CONS: - Old carpet - Old bath towels - Could use thicker and newer blankets - The bed wasn't that comfy (but what do you expect for this price) - That flower vase on the work desk got to go, it was just there to collecting dust - Slow WiFi Built in 1953 and originally named Casa Lual after the first owner's daughter Lucille and husband Allen, the Lodge played a role in Hollywood movie making. In 1959, Hollywood arrived in Napa to begin filming "This Earth is Mine" starring Rock Hudson, Jean Simmons, Cindy Robins and Claude Rains. Many people in Napa were excited and some people even got parts as extras in the movie. Two years later, Elvis Presley arrived in Napa to film the 1961 movie "Wild in the Country" with Tuesday Weld and Hope Lange. This was a very exciting time for teenage girls in Napa, as they waited in long lines at the fairgrounds to see Elvis and get his autograph. All of the stars stayed at the Wine Valley Lodge. And even Marilyn Monroe once was stayed here. I know it's hard to believe! This is exactly what you get for a 3 stars motel/lodge, and a little more for your value, see my photos. I will stay here again if the price is right.

Found this hotel on kayak 2 nights 3 days was around $320 with taxes and fees. Honestly it's a great place to stay if you're looking for an affordable place to stay that's near everything. What I like... 1. Super clean. That's the main thing I look for when I book any hotel room. Bathroom is really spacious and clean as well which is a huge plus in my book! 2. Room is definitely very spacious and comes with a mini fridge that actually feels cold (some places that I've stayed at the mini fridges are semi cold/warm?) and a microwave which is nice to have but too bad we didn't have anything to heat up haha 3. Staff here are friendly 4. Great parking 5. Breakfast is ok...(includes bananas, apples, oranges, coffee, milk, juice, cereal, and a few packaged pastries) but I mean that's what was expected, still nice that it's offered. Also 2 bottles of complimentary water are in the mini fridge when you arrive. Overall its great and I would definitely come back and stay here again!

I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are used to, but I think this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I refused to walk barefoot on the carpet, the pillowcases were grey and the walls were so thin that the man snoring the the room next door might as well have been in bed with us. There was a piece of mop in the moldy shower, so I'm hoping that this was a sign it was cleaned. To add to the excitement, the coffee machine in the breakfast room only served hot chocolate, from every button. Free wi-fi was the only plus.

We did have a few pretty serious negatives to our experience tho . The day we pulled in, tired from a long road trip, it was pouring rain and we could not even find the front door. We walked all around the plaza containing their other businesses- coffee shop/restaurant etc and nearly gave up after walking all the way around the entire building. Once we found the front door , which is located on the Main Street the valet service ( which is required unless you want to park 3 blocks away ! ) was not very welcoming. We had lots of luggage and in the pouring rain we struggled to get our bags onto the cart, they did not help us at all. The guest services man Jorge was great and friendly and even upgraded us to a nicer room for our troubles. Once in the room we tried to hook up our Amazon fire stick to watch t.v. But the tv was flush against the wall and we could not reach the HDMI port. We called downstairs and they said they would send someone up to help. Half an hour went by and no one came so I called downstairs again , at which time i was told "our t.v.'s do not accommodate that' . That is a total lie , any tv with an HDMI port can be used with a fire stick, we guessed they were just too lazy/ busy to come up. The tv was very large , but was not even a smart tv . What the heck ???? Even a basic motel has a smart tv. We went down to the lobby bar to have some drinks and a snack . The hostess in the restaurant said we could sit anywhere in the lobby and someone would help us. We waiting for 20 minutes and no one even acknowledged us so we left . Other people had food and drinks so I don't know what that was about ..... We decided to just eat dinner on the rooftop and be done with this experience. The hostess was very uninspiring about her job and seated us. The dinner service was decent , it was pouring rain and we got a bit drizzled on between the louvres of the rooftop awning but overall dinner was ok. Due to the "snobby feel" of most of the staff and the lack of t.v. Options i would probably not stay here again. It's a shame because it was a nice location.

Sadly enough, this hotel is dealing with serious THEFT ISSUES which management is unwilling to fix…read moreor even review. I recommend the reader staying elsewhere if you have any valuable items. My story below. We stayed at the Archer Hotel Napa mid December 2025. When departing the property, I left my Stetson cowboy hat in the room ($1K+). Realizing this the next day, I contacted the Archer Hotel who informed me that nothing was reported yet (with a promise for a follow up notice). After 3 weeks of silence, I reached out again and was told that staff had not found the hat in the room. I must point out that the hat was packed in a special-purpose large box; given the size, special packing, value, and nature of the item, it is inconceivable that it would have been discarded as trash. Evidently, it was stolen. I then escalated this issue to management who mostly ignored my requests (I can share various emails for those who care). I did learn that there is security footage but access or review of it was denied (and one would wonder why that was not done in December following my first call?). This makes it evident that management (GM Michael Pace and Director of Operations Patricia Wilson) prefer to turn a blind eye and as such indirectly approves of staff holding on to left-behind items of value. Again: this is theft. I am now left with filing a report with the Napa Police Department.

Lobby is tiny and we were greeted while they were busy with other visitors. Gave us a three level upgrade with outdoor tub but too many leaves and pollen to use. Called for housekeeping and nobody arrived. Have to call to get slippers and tooth brushes and only bought one set even though they confirmed for two. Lounge sets were not covered prior to our arrival which I would expect as part of housekeeping. Hence can't use lounge chairs and patio furniture without cleaning. Spiders on outside furnitures and inside cottage had one dangle down its web right in front of me while sitting on the sofa. Bathtub inside is broken and can't use to take a bath and looks like it's been broken for a while. I liked the folding patio door setup as allows a nice view of the roses in the yard and a nice breeze but a lot of bugs. Could be helpful if there's lavender plants in the backyard. Nice fire place in backyard that can run really hot and keep bugs off you and a nice place to relax in the morning. Shower had nice heated floors but tub not working detracted from the experience. Service is great and everyone was ultra friendly but hard product is missing the spot.

Upon arrival, we had to wait to check in because there was only one person working the front desk. For a resort charging nearly $1,200 per night, this was not a great first impression. There was also no welcome drink or arrival experience offered. The next day I noticed a bottle of wine and cups sitting on a table near check-in, but no one had mentioned it to us when we arrived. I booked through American Express Platinum and inquired about a room upgrade, but was told the resort was at full capacity and no upgrades were available. However, throughout our stay the property appeared surprisingly empty and certainly did not feel anywhere close to full occupancy. I had also informed the resort ahead of time that we were celebrating our 6th anniversary. There was no welcome note, no small gift, and no acknowledgment whatsoever. While not required, these are the types of details luxury resorts typically excel at, especially when guests are celebrating special occasions. The room itself was another disappointment. For the rate we paid, it felt small and poorly maintained. Several lights and the television were unplugged, leaving us to troubleshoot them ourselves. The curtains were falling off the rod, and there was visible trash in the backyard area. These are basic maintenance issues that should never be present at a property positioning itself as a luxury destination. Dining was equally frustrating. We attempted to get a table at The Farm and were told the next available table would be about 20 minutes. We were offered immediate seating outside near the bar, but staff failed to mention that this was effectively a different dining experience with a much more limited menu. The service there was poor from start to finish. Our waiter forgot to place one of our orders, resulting in my wife's meal arriving much later than mine. We frequently had to flag him down just to receive basic service. The food portions were small and the quality was mediocre at best. The one bright spot of our stay was the wine tasting at Post Tasting Room with Cole. He was knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely seemed to care about creating a great guest experience. He was easily the highlight of our visit. Overall, Carneros Resort and Spa did not deliver the luxury experience it promises, nor did it justify its premium pricing. Between the poor service, lack of attention to detail, room condition issues, and disappointing dining experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to friends or family.

She had never been there, and I wanted to surprise her, so she had no idea where we're going. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have made since my children have left the nest. The hotel upon entering is very inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly. And the ambience is unbelievable what you would expect of a five-star hotel in LA yet with the charm of a small-town feel. So let me begin with our inception. Upon walking in, we were greeted and given water and asked if we would like to upgrade our room. The room upgrade offered a patio with a propane fireplace and chairs for only $50 extra a night, we gladly said yes. Every evening, we were given a voucher for drinks, 2 drinks per person, alcoholic that is. Each morning, we had free breakfast. You had a choice of an egg McMuffin-style sandwich, a chorizo burrito, or an egg potato and cheese burrito. The egg cheese and potato burrito is the way to go. It is so big I could have cut it into three parts and eaten it for lunch breakfast and dinner. They have a small store inside of the restaurant which you purchase what you want, and you scan it yourself, that was kind of nice. There was a pool and jacuzzi, and we went in the jacuzzi the very first night since there was no one there yet, but as it got closer to Thanksgiving more families came in. I will have to say this is the first time that we haven't had children with us, because both of our children are out of the nest in college. So, this is the first Thanksgiving dinner we had NOT at home. But I must admit, it was fantastic-yet bittersweet We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and gravy and we had ube pie. For those of you that don't know what ube pie is, it's a Filipino purple sweet potato. When I saw that on the menu, even though I'm not Filipino, I knew I had to have a pie at least. We got the whole meal, it was fantastic the turkey was succulent mashed potatoes and gravy were awesome I don't like stuffing, but my wife ate my stuffing, and we had asparagus as well if I remember correctly. I had spoken to the front-end manager, I believe, or the beverage manager and she is Pinay, so this is why, I assume, they had the ube pie instead of pumpkin pie, but it was amazing. Even if it's not Thanksgiving, ask if they have ube pie. It's very convenient because it is right next to the freeway so you can travel up north and take ancillary streets to go up to where all the wineries are at. We didn't take a winery tour, because we're not viticulturists, but if you are, it's a fantastic place to go.

They have a box to go pick up breakfast in the lobby/bar area with one gentleman controlling the hot meal which is either a sausage egg muffin, a chorizo burrito or a egg, bacon and potato burrito. I will say first, from what I saw of the hotel, it is nicely appointed and has great staff. I would consider coming back just to stay. Our lunch was also pretty nice. The service was rather slow, especially since we were one of two occupied tables for most of the time we were there (mid-week), but the food was very good and fresh/healthy feeling. Now, on to the spa. I chose the 80 min peptide lifting facial for $395. First of all, $395 is a price you might pay for a full service spa. This is not that. There is a tiny locker room with a closet sized sauna in it that could fit one or two people. There is one shower and a sink to clean up in. No other facilities. Second of all, the facial was nothing special to cost that much. I have better facials at home at my local salon, and usually pay less than $100. At the end of the facial the esthetician, who had just spent the last 75 mins cleaning all the gunk off my face and out of my pores, then proceeded to put a nasty tinted moisturizer all over my face! I asked her about it at the time, told her that I do not wear makeup of any kind, and even told her I was concerned about it getting on the collar of my light grey sweater. She just slathered it on. Told me if I didn't like it I could use a tissue to wipe it off! When I went to get dressed after my service I looked in the mirror and saw that I did in fact look like a tangerine. Thankfully I had some cleaning wipes in my bag, and was able to get it all off. So I basically wiped off $395 of facial in two minutes with a cheap drug store towelette. Great. So, basically, stay at the hotel or maybe trying out the restaurant, but avoid the spa!

Yogurt and granola. All before the menu comes out with a custom made hot breakfast. My wife got avocado toast and I got an omelette. Both came with house made potatoes and mine had an option for a variety of toasts to choose from. All delicious and a great way to start the day. Really grateful to have found this place and already thinking about when we could go back. Also, perhaps most important, it's walkable to just about everything downtown, including the oxbow market and all the restaurants and shops in between, of which there are many.

We were walked back to our room and grab some freshly baked cookies on the way. The room was so cute and perfect for a romantic getaway. It had a heart shaped soaking tub, a large shower, a comfortable bed and a fireplace that was very powerful. They cook your breakfast fresh every morning and you have a choice between their regular menu items or the special of the day. They also have a yogurt and juice bar. They bring out coffee by the carafe. I ordered the avocado toast each morning because I loved it so much. He ordered the specials each morning and no matter what we ordered, it was delicious. They have free parking in the back and it's easy driving distance to downtown Napa and the Valley wineries. I definitely recommend The Inn on First.
