I booked a tour with Winewagen for a small bachelorette party. Zach was fantastic--punctual, professional, great communication, and very laid back. The van was comfortable, clean, and roomy, and we had a blast during our jumps between wineries playing DJ and singing along to the glory of the early 200s. Our group had a couple hiccups when the day got started that Zach went above and beyond handling--like our Airbnb door not closing (bizarre, I know!), and Zach was kind enough to help us fix it so we could get on our way. This review is a bit overdue, but we are still talking about it a year later for a girls trip with my 3 best friends. We knew it was going to be a great trip when we got in and Zak simply asked where do you want to go? We said you are from here take us where you would go. He asked white or red? We said red.. We asked him to pick some cool music and he started with Bob Seger Roll Me Away and we were hooked. And so it began, he took us to smaller wineries with excellent products, good pricing, customer oriented and less crowded. Not a single tourist trap. Zak even put up with me pestering him about the bus, the motor, the restoration - I'm a bike and car nut. He even showed me his friend's beautiful european sports car at one winery.. nice! :) This classic VW Westfalia bus has complete charm, a few rattles, old school seat belts, a few bumps on the stone road and cool tunes; she showed us girls old school cool. This ride was exactly what we hoped for, we loved that we could visit, not sit there listening to some over the top driver bugging us with a bunch of chit chat stories, bragging tales of the area or taking over our day; he just let us have fun and relax. In some of the other reviews they wanted more chit chatty tour guide, not us, we want laid back and not trying to struggle talking to each other over a tour guide. We preferred that the wineries give us the tour we wanted and information at each stop. Zak was so polite, very responsive to answered to winery, sites and local questions we had. We enjoyed that he opened the door for us and took us into the wineries and introduced us to the folks there. The folks at the wineries treated us wonderfully and they seemed to be friends with Zak we felt they went out of the way to take care of us. Overall, I have told everyone I meet that this is the way to tour if you are into laid back, peaceful rides with great places to visit. I signed my sister and I up for this , several months ago . We were absolutely thrilled with our entire day. We were picked up promptly at our hotel , as stated . We quickly discussed with fellow travelers what we wanted to go to . We all voted on a cheese place , several vineyards and a brewery . Zach knew exactly where to take us, and did it a very scenic route. He was more then willing to answer any questions. After looking at about 12 different companies to take my me and my friends around Seneca Lake for a wine tour, we settled on Winewagen. Setting up the tour was sooo easy - they have a calendar and you can choose your dates and book and pay online. I thought the price was super reasonable. I got an email reminder about a week before and on the day of our trip, Zach showed up to our AirBNB right on schedule. We already picked our wineries but Zach will ask what you like and can take you around based on that. He's a very knowledgeable guy. He was really nice and his van was super clean and he let us squeeze in one last winery in the little bit of time we had left with him. It was raining and he whipped that van around to get us every time we came out of a winery. He also let us play our music! My friends and I had a great day. Highly recommended! Five stars! read more

Zach's Winewagon was the perfect way to explore the finger lakes!!! We got in 4 wineries and 2 breweries in our 6 hour tour and he took us to the best spots! We loved being able to eat and drink whatever we wanted in the bus and his music taste was fitting! If your looking to get the best value for your money this is the way to go!!! Although I grew up in the Finger Lakes area, I had never been on a wine tour. When some friends came in from out of town, I had the perfect excuse. Winewagen tours was the perfect way to finally have this experience. If you are reading this review while doing research about what company to book for a wine tour, do yourself a HUGE favor and book Winewagen now. Everything about this experience was wonderful, from the communication beforehand to the tour itself. Zach is a master at what he does, and the man has a playlist that will blow you away. By the middle of our tour, my friends and I were all wishing that Zach was our best friend-- he is that cool. We requested that he decide the itinerary, and the places he took us to were all amazing. He was funny and so welcoming and made us feel completely at home in the amazing winewagen. We originally booked 4 hours, but he extended to 6 for us with no problem. He arrived to pick us up 10 minutes early and was always waiting for us when we came out of each winery to help us with our bags. In spite of the fact that he had no way of knowing how long we would stay at each location, he timed the whole day perfectly. I honestly cannot recommend Winewagen Tours, or Zach, enough. I have told everyone I know what an amazing experience I had, and I cannot wait to book another tour (I have a feeling I am going to need A LOT of wine over the next 4 years). read more

This was the most fun wine tour that I have done. Zack is a resident of Geneva and was very informative about the wineries and the beautiful lakes. He will personalize your tour based on your taste. Expect a gentleman as your tour guide. Zack will open the cute little Volkswagen bus door and assist you out and in each and every time you stop. He leads you into each winery and introduces you to the staff who all know him. He has a good sense of humor. He will talk with his guests but he also is patient and waits quietly while we enjoy the wineries. I highly recommend Zack and his green Volkswagen tour! read more

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time on the Winewagen Tour! We booked a trip last minute and Zach was super quick to email back with a response about being able to do our tour. When he came to pick us up, on time, which was great, the van was awesome. It's a restored, in wonderful condition VW bus which was a super fun experience. I've read other reviews that spoke about how helpful Zach was--explained where they were going, what wineries they were going to and was the "coolest guy around who plate awesome tunes". The tour was in some ways as described by the other reviews. Yes, Zack did open the door, walked into the winery & carried our purchases and placed them in the van. The VW bus was well maintained and was very cool to ride in. My group of 4 did not receive much information or conversation from Zack. As a previous review stated that they felt that Zack did not want to be there that day, that is how we felt as the day progressed. The small amount of 'friendliness' that we received in the morning quickly faded towards the end of our tour. I would keep in mind if you plan to book this tour that there is no guarantee on which Zack you will get. read more

What a wonderful day we had with Zach at the helm. First, his wife Laura must check her internet every 5 minutes because each time I emailed her I would receive a reply within minutes. Great customer service and the bus and the driver are special. Zach picked out all the wineries and each was different but all offered surprisingly great tasting wines. I even liked the dry white ones!!!! We got to visit seven Seneca Lake wineries in 6 hours. And Zach even brought us to a great burger joint for lunch. Don't let their website fool you, that old bus can move on down the road. If you were smart you would get on the bus if you want a great Finger Lakes experience. Zach was awesome and made a fantastic itinerary for us. We'd never been to the region so we told him we were interested in craft beer, wine and a good place for lunch and the tour included all three. We did a 4 hour tour and squeezed in 5 places and lunch. He was prompt, accommodating and the bus is a major selling point. Very well kept up, comfortable interior and plenty of room for wine purchases. I'd recommend for couples or for groups who have never been to the area, you will not be disappointed! read more
