I drive by this place nearly every day and finally stopped by today to give them a try. It was around 4:30pm and there was a piece of notebook paper taped to the door with a handwritten message scrawled using a black Sharpie - it read "closed for break 3:50pm - 5:00pm. Um. . . Okay. I had to go back to the office any way, so I headed back and drank a large bottle of water and a granola bar to tide me over. I'm stubborn and I was determined I was gonna try this place today, so I bypassed Popeye's and Fuddruckers and Schlotzky's and went back to this place after I got off - around 6pm. The owner was an extremely happy, friendly, energetic Asian man. I mentioned that I was their earlier when sign was on the door. He said he was inside sleeping and apologized - told me to beat on the door next time. I was so charmed by the guy that I really wanted to love the food. But alas it was not to be. I ordered the 3 piece fish combo - tilapia. There was a bit of language barrier issue I guess - because he got my order wrong. My fish (2 pieces of whiting instead of 3 pieces of tilapia) was soggy and undercooked and my fries were overcooked and tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the seafood. I tried the tea - which he keeps in a jug near the register - and it was abysmal. So I was forced to get a fountain drink. Food was good. I got 6 mild wings for about $5. The mild buffalo sauce was yummy, a little peppery and the perfect amount of spice. I don't recommend the buffalo sauce to tender mouths. Hamburger was just a cafeteria-style burger, nothing special except fresh lettuce and crisp pickles. They lost one star from me because the bathrooms were dirty. This little nondescript hole-in-the-wall joint has good wings and fries. Wing City is tucked between a convenience store and liquor store and good for carryout. I picked up an order of Naked Wings with Mild Buffalo Sauce, Fries, Celery and Blue Cheese and headed back to the hotel. The sauce is not typical Buffalo Sauce in that it lacked the familiar tang provided by vinegar in most sauces. The wings were tossed in something similar and seemed to have garlic powder, seasoning salt, and black pepper in the sauce. They were tasty and meaty...pretty good! The fries were served up crispy and were just right in terms of crunchy outside and fluffy center. The celery was buried under the fries so they were warmed/cooked which is not cool. The blue cheese dressing was standard...a good thing. The carryout box is styrofoam, so I drove to the hotel with the lid OFF as not to steam my wings and fries (steaming leaves the food soggy). The joint itself is not a place that I would like to eat. The hard furniture covered in bright formica, the large screen TV sitting on the same formica covered counter next to the partially functioning Coke Fountain combined with the incredibly brightly lit joint with upteen hundred Fluorescent lights makes for very lame ambience. I think I found my new wing lunch spot! Tried this place out for the first time today. I called my order in and my food was ready in 10 min by the time I got there. I ordered the 8pc wings + fried rice + drink combo, the total came out to about $9. For the amount of food I got, the price is really good. These aren't tiny or overly gigantic chicken wings, just regular sized wings. So 8 piece with the fried rice was perfect for me. I was not a huge fan of the fried rice, I've had better- however, the portion was huge. Hot/Lemon Pepper with an extra side of Hot is my go to, and I really liked their sauce. I was not expecting much as this Wing City stood on a main road with practically an empty parking lot. It has that family owned vibe and I thought for sure the food was going to be so so. Ate here earlier this weekend. Wings are pretty good, could be a bit better. Although inexpensive I was very impressed by their level of service and felt very comfortable waiting for my wings to be ready. I got 10 honey BBQ wings and 10 Jamaican jerk(very spicy!!!) The sauce for BBQ wings were impeccable. It's the jerk wings that kind of lost me... wasn't the best. Was just unbearably spicy wings. They have a ton of great flavors to choose from but their fries are very bland, not a stitch of salt so I'd recommend putting the seasoned salt they have sitting out on the counter on your fries before you leave. I have supported this establishment every since reopening. The wings are smaller which I like. Wings sauces are flavorful. Lava were delicious..AT FIRST! I've notice the cook changes every 3 months. Likewise the consistency of the wing sauce's also. Customer Service is horrible!!! Especially, after 6 (owner leaves). My husband and I decided to give another chance with the new cook. Wings/sauce very good. Until I, made the mistake of calling in an order after 6....I simply order 10 lava wings all flats, extra sauce w/ bleu cheese dressing. Finally I received my order 15 minutes after my promised time (apparently the crew was on a smoke break) my sauce was drizzled over my wings. I asked the night manager if she would toss the wings in the sauce. Manager reply "What! That's the way it come." I, ask again. Manager reply " Well I don't know what you want me to do?" Not worth it. I went by Wing City after always passing it by on my way home. I ordered the wing combo and asked for them to split it up meaning half lemon pepper and half honey bbq. After I got home I dug into the wings, and boy what a disappointment! The wings were dry as the freaking Sahari Desert and the so called honey bbque tasted more like the teriyaki which I didn't order, the celery looked old and the fries looked like store bought Kroger frozen fries, I'm talking no flavor at all and that goes for the wings too.
