Think of it as a smaller version of Whole Foods when it comes to food quality and prices. I noticed they had some top quality cuts of meats. The prices are quite high so I'll have to splurge some time on a nice steak. I did notice some items were pretty reasonably priced. For example, I was rather surprised to see they had a very large variety of Temple coffee beans for for $14.99 a bag. That's cheaper than I have seen elsewhere but I didn't pay close attention to the size since I was fully stocked on coffee at the moment. I had to try one of their legendary made to order sandwiches. Someone had recommended The Tuscany. Boy, was that delicious! And the sandwich was very large for $9.99, I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. There are tables outside so I purchased a bottle soda and a sandwich. Unfortunately, I didn't think ahead because there are no bottle openers available for customers to use so I was unable to enjoy my nice cold drink with my sandwich. I'll have to either bring my own bottle opener next time or choose a drink that is a screw top or flip opener.

The second time, the sweet roll got a little soggy for my liking, and I wasn't a big fan of the beef that was included. I am definitely a fan of their honey mustard, though! You can order your sandwiches online, or if you're ordering in-store, there's a slip you can fill out with your order. I waited about 20-30 minutes for my first sandwich, which wasn't too bad considering it was a busy weekend. The second time, I only waited about 5 minutes. They still have a great variety of meats, cheeses, and alcohol. It's a good place to stop by if you're looking to pick up some specialty grocery items along with a sandwich.

Whenever this happens I end up leaving with a lot more items. I appreciate that they carry a wide variety of items including some ingredients and items that are hard to find in the US and even at other Asian grocery stores. For a more pricey part of town since it's in midtown, just on the edge of downtown really, this GO has stayed reasonable in all it offers. It's located at 1700 Capitol Ave not far from the east side of Capitol Park a few blocks from the Capitol Rose Garden. This GO is right across 17th St from the East End Complex buildings with offices for the CA Dept of Public Health and CA Dept of Health Care Services. Out front there were still some herbs and spring seasonal plants on sale, although only 1 rack of them left, since it's already kind of late in the planting season. This is a smaller store, given how expensive real estate is in downtown, but the owners have really packed it all in. Every section has most everything other bigger Grocery Outlet stores carry, except maybe not as many of any given item, but overall, I see that most things I'm looking for and buy regularly at my neighborhood GO is still available here. You've got your fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, dairy (milk and yogurt), sundries, pantry staples like cans and dry pasta, seasoning (sauces and spices), freezer items (frozen veg, meats and heat-and-eat meals), and beers & wines all available here with great variety. As you enter the store there's a super convenient grab-n-go deli cold case section for quick ready-to-eat lunches which is super helpful for office workers who might be just looking to get something very quickly for lunch without breaking the bank. You can get a salad kit, a ready-made sandwich, pre-cut fruits, some cheeses, or a deli salad in this section. There's also a small floral section right near here so if you were looking for a gift to give to a coworker/boss/friend/your significant other, you can very easily and quickly find a nice potted plant or a small bouquet and be on your way. It's definitely not a full-service floral dept, but there's a good assortment of plants and flowers to choose from and some of were even tropical plants that looked pretty unique! My fav section is the snacks area. I found some snacks here that have been out of stock at 2 other GO's I visited looking for them, so I stocked up and bought a bunch so I won't run out! My timing wasn't very good though because half the entree items were empty (mandarin chicken, teriyaki chicken, etc). The few entrees that were available were dried out so I got the skinny noodle chow mein with two pieces of fried chicken, instead of two entrees for the same price. The chow mein and chicken was dry too, and the skin and outer layer of the chicken was hard to chew through. I have to give them a pass though because I did go at 1:00, the end of the lunch rush, and there were guests visiting the kitchen at the time, and probably not able to cook to refill. While walking through the store to pick up great sale deals, i didn't pick up much, because the sale prices were not updated in front of the items. At first, i questioned whether certain items were even on sale this week. But the few items I picked up actually scanned with the sale price, so I suggest to make a list of those sale items before you go.
