Arthritis medicine here is awesome and very helpful. We all know Arthritis if we have it. It's manageable but diffently not curable! The Chinese Dr. is so very helpful. Book an appointment, he's dpit on. Done medicine is expensive but you are on it for maybe 6mo-1yr. But do worth it when my pain leaves was a 10, the medicine recommended byvthe Chinese Dr. was spotcon. It tamed down to a an easy 3 1/2. I've been coming in more recently because I do most of the shopping for my parents now. At the beginning of the pandemic, they didn't allow customers inside, but that's changed and I'm able to browse now. I kinda miss giving them my shopping list and having it brought out super quickly. But they're still very friendly and helpful when I can't find something. I haven't come for an herbal consultation in years, so I can't comment on that, but Wing Ming definitely has the best selection of Chinese herbs in Portland. I'm a 65 year old critical care nurse that's more than aware of the shortcomings and yes pitfalls of modern medicine; including, having a close family member that acquired cancer from a prescribed pharmaceutical drug. Because of what I have witnessed and experienced I have, in the past few years, started pursuing alternative medicine for health problems. Two decades of construction work in my earlier years had left me with advanced arthritis in the left hip and knee causing a chronic limp, and severe carpel tunnel syndrome in the right hand. It's a dingy and dinky store (with matching small parking lot), but I'm glad Wing Ming is here to fill a large void in our lives for traditional Chinese items. Wing Ming is also a good place to get a phone card for calling back to China or Taiwan. If you speak Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), you'll probably get a little better deal, too. So, invite your mom, dad, in-laws, or aunt to join you. They'll find the little things they've missed for years while you get a good deal on a few hard to find Chinese goods. read more

Wing Ming herbs is a truly amazing place. This is an old school Chinese herbary where an astonishing variety of herbs, patent medicines, teas, ginseng, etc etc etc are available. They also sell bulk quantities of teas, herbs, and spices at very very good prices. But their main focus is on Traditional Chinese Medicine, which they do very well at very affordable prices. Don't be put off if you are non-Chinese, I find the Wing Ming staff to be very welcoming and almost everyone who works there is multi-lingual. This is a small, but stuffed Chinese shop that we go to for herbs we use on a "grumpy" dog. Many many years ago, I Vet we went to had gotten into Chinese medicine after he had a stroke. Western medicine didn't do enough for him, so as an Doctor of medicine himself, he studied Chinese medicine to help himself. He used what he had learned and started offering it to dogs. Our dog was one of his first. We took a few dogs to this Vet for general care, and when it might help, Chinese herbs. I had the foresight once to have him write down the recipe to the Chinese herbal mix that we had been getting from him for what is best described as a grumpy dog. Years later, unfortunately this wonderful that passed away from a heart attack. I research the recipe made some very minor changes to it, and then we went to this herb shop. We buy the tea pills, take them home and use a coffee grinder to turn it to powder. We continued to give it successfully to our dog, and it worked. That dog has since passed. Now we are caring for another dog that might benefit from this herbal blend and so here we are again. At this visit I was left on my own, but that was okay. No complaints. read more

I have been a patient and a client since the 90's. They used to operate their business on 84th and Foster. I am a true believer in herbal treatment. For a small fee I got to talk to the herbalist to understand my illness, and afterward the herbalist prescribed me a remedy. I usually get my herbal supplies at the same time. Although the medicine required some slow cooking and they could be extreme bitter and hard to drink to most people, I myself find comfort in knowing that I am in good care. Wing Ming Herbs is THE place to go for all your Traditional Chinese Medicine needs. Dr. Peizhong Mao (Mao Peizhong) is their primary herbalist. His résumé includes being associated with Oregon Health Sciences University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His expertise combined with his very caring manner is most impressive, and after several consultations with him plus his recommendations for Chinese herbs, I was cured of a horrendous medical issue that western medicine (MD's) couldn't help me with. I drove basically all the way across town to visit this shop, because my acupuncturist has run out of a particular Chinese herb that I use, and told me that I could get it where she gets it. This place is right on 82nd, and there's a decent amount of parking, but good luck figuring out what door to use enter the shop. The street-facing side of the bldg looks like a Chinese herb shop, the parking lot side looks like a standard mini-mart/bodega. Enter on the parking lot side. Anyway, once I was inside, I was served promptly, but if I hadn't had a photo of the label for the herb I was looking for, I would have been SOL, since I was not pronouncing it correctly. No store in Portland has a greater variety of herbs than this store. I've gone to several Oriental and Asian markets to see what kinds of tea they have, and this is the only place that has multiple varieties of loose leaf tea in canisters; everyone else has packaged tea. The women here help me every time. My two favorite herbs here are gynostemma and ku ding. You have to go in here and check out their supply. They have so many herbs here your ego will deflate! read more

My in-laws are on a quest for eternal youth, or at least that's what it seems like to me. They love trying any vitamins or medicine that promises less aches and pains and usually get most of their information from the Vietnamese channels on television. Usually ordering from these infomercials cost a shipping and handling fee, but since they've discovered Wing Ming herbs, they have been able to find most of the advertised vitamins at this location where they have aisles and aisles of various herbs. The sales associates are friendly and are helpful in helping you find what you're looking for. My in-laws have yet to find a cure for aging, so I bet we'll be frequenting WM often! read more

First, I am chinese, I grew up going to this area. This place doesnt change much.. The owners are stingy. You cant bargain with them at all. I am not trying to be like stingy, but the bargaining is part of the Chinese culture. When you go to other places nearby, if you spend 100 dollars, they give you so sauce, at wings market, you get free drinks, this place you dont get anything not even a thank you. I honestly dont think their price is the best. You can buy as good of ginseng at Tin Seng Trading Co!!! and the people are more friendly, and it makes you feel like home. Yin Wall, dont buy from this place. I would go to Tai Yen Chinese Herbs ( across from ABC seafood) Much better quality and prices. If you are chinese, you know this place has a so-so reputation. Fabulous selection of chinese herbs and liniments. Often used by local acupuncturists as their source of bulk herbs and patent formulas. Prices used to be the best in town but they have crept up slowly over time so it may be cheaper to acquire elsewhere depending on the quantity you need.
