THE least fresh chow-fun I've ever had. Was ordering on DoorDash, and the beef chowfun which I wanted, was not enough to not pay delivery, so I up-paid for the House, which in the USUAL case, should be a couple pieces of EVERY meat, right? Imagine my disappointment to find there's anything but beef. The noodles are also super mushy and soggy. Like I understand soaking the noodles take a while so you can't prep them to order, but if they get to the point where it just melts down in the wok, YOU'VE GOTTA LET THAT GO. Decided on lunch specials around 2:30 knowing they usually end by 3, so driving by, I jumped into this place. Surprisingly, their lunch specials are 11:00 to 3:30. First impression, they still have themselves barricaded behind a plexiglass wall from Covid, which I found bizarre. I ordered Shrimp & Lobster Sauce, Boneless Spare Ribs and Wonton/Eggdrop soup. Eggdrop soup was bland. Wontons were filled adequately, but hard when bitten into. The Lobster sauce was okay, but the shrimp tasted like they were thrown in after being boiled. Fried rice was decent. My husband's boneless spare ribs were slivers of meat, unevenly cooked; some over done, some needed to be cooked more. Egg rolls were good, drained well, not greasy and a nice crunch when you bit into it. I'd say the price was reasonable, $19.44 for 2 lunch combinations and a soup. read more

While visiting friends in Centereach we wanted to stop for a super quick lunch somewhere and I got out voted and we ended up in a KFC. Just when I was about to order I spotted a Chinese restaurant in the adjacent strip mall and decided instead to get a lunch special from there. The place turned out to be Wing Wah. Now don't get me wrong. If I told you Wing Wah was not your standard open kitchen Chinese Take out joint with stacks of supply boxes and outdated tables and chairs occupying the eating area I would be a complete liar. It's obvious similar to other mom and pop or family operated places that minimal effort and resources go into design, modernization, or even replacing the broken ceiling fan in 90+ degree weather. Pretty obvious this is not a place most would sit and eat. That being said, these budget decision go to keeping the prices of the food down and the quality up and that, in my opinion, is the most important thing for me. Wing Wah's prices for their lunch specials are indeed low,, hovering around the $7.50 mark. They also do something that most other Chinese places I go to don't do. Instead of automatically including a soup or an egg roll or a drink , they make it optional for an extra 80 cents. I decided to keep it simple and got the beef with broccoli and pork egg foo young, both with pork fried rice. I also added an egg roll and hot and sour soup. Everything came to under $19 so pretty good deal so far. The man at the counter was exceeding nice and efficient. The food was cooked fresh and it took about 15 minutes to get my order. It turned out it was worth it as the beef dish was very flavorful with lots of tender beef and perfectly cooked broccoli. The pork fried rice and was very tasty and came with decent sized pieces of roast pork in it and did not have that off putting bright yellow color that some places serve. The egg foo young came with the standard two omelette patties and a side of traditional gravy. The patties were a little too done for my taste, but the flavor was on point when combined with the gravy and rice. All in all, very solid Chinese food takeout. The egg roll was a little small, but shell was crispy, non greasy, and the filling was delicious. The hot and sour soup had lots of nice ingredients in it: tofu, woods ear mushrooms, carrots etc, but the broth was neither hot nor sour. I took it home and doctored it up to the way I like it but out of the box it did eat bland. So in summary if you want a no frills Chinese take out place that serves solid, above average basic Chinese food and very good prices with friendly service, you could do much worse than Wing Wah. If I was from the area I would definitely go here and try other items on the menu. read more

the place i usually get from is closed mondays, and VERY FEW places deliver in the area soo i decided to trust the ratings on doordash ...horrible idea. not only did i spend the EXTRA MONEY for doordash, i couldn't eat most of the food. the boneless ribs, were gross. mostly fat and rubbery. the broccoli in brown sauce lacked flavor soooo badly- the only flavor i could taste is what i would describe as tap water taste .. couldn't eat it..(my son who eats EVERYTHING wouldn't touch it either) and the fried rice, was the worst - it tasted like it was sitting there for 6 weeks. it was so gross and OLD tasting looked NOTHING like the pictures also which pisses me off..never again will i take a chance on a diff place based on the ratings . such a waste of money read more

Extremely disappointed in rhis place. We have been going here for three years. They have raised menu prices three times over the past year. This place keeps getting better and better. I've had the Moo Goo Gai Pan and it's excellent. The steamed vegetables dumplings are excellent also. If you're in Centereach give Wing Wah a try - you're be happy you did. read more

This was one of the better ones in centereach. But let me say I'm very disappointed, you would think that after being closed for so long with the current situation you would think with a neighborhood that is really supportive of local business that they would really be on their game and give us what we are used to from them. Soups tasted like bath water missing the meat in th hot and sour. The cheese wontons were 25 percent filled. And portions on some dishes less. Ribs and boneless ribs dry. And the chicken dish was lacking the amount of chicken compared to how they used to prepare it. Most flavors were there. Was really excited to have Chinese again. Wing Wah Kitchen is my favorite Chinese food restaurant in the area. For some reason it's labeled as "Wing Wah Restaurant" in most places, but every time I call they say "Wing Wah Kitchen." The inside is no great shakes, but it's awesome for take out. I'm a fan of the traditional chicken and broccoli and I love their egg rolls, plus they're really fast and sometimes nice depending on who's working, haha. read more

I actually thought this place was decently good for what it is. Fast Chinese food makes me gitty inside. I love being able to order food and having no issue going down to pick up the food. I even like when you make orders that are a set scaled amount, they offer you free things because of your order. That always makes me feel good. Their food is delicious. Its made promptly.
