Best Chinese food in port Jefferson. I've been here several times and it's been a good experience every time.

Wonton soup was neon yellow? Why? Beef and broccoli has no taste almost rubber like chewy. Do not go. RIP TO MY STOMACH. Used to go here couple years ago when it was decent then started to go to another nearby that happened to be closed last night so decided to try Tasty House again...MISTAKE! Don't know what changed but food certainly not the same. Wonton soup was more like egg drop, pork lomein had no flavor, egg rolls were supermarket quality, chicken broccoli was best of the bunch maybe at 3 stars at best. Come here for a solid Chinese-American takeout experience. Overall I feel that most Chinese takeout spots taste the same but I'll try to note distinguishing features here - CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI Tender thin slices of chicken that are juicy makes for bites of chicken that have a high sauce to chicken surface ratio. The sauce is on the salty/savory side vs sweet for chicken broccolis and makes the chicken bright and appealing orange. Broccoli well cooked and keeps a crunchy texture. CHICKEN CORN SOUP Only comes in one size but this is my favorite soup . If you're unfamiliar check it out. It's basically a lighter version of egg drop plus corn and chicken pieces. So it has this thickness from the egg, sweetness and crunch/chew from the corn and chicken for savoriness and protein. SHRIMP TOAST Very oily but very on brand for Chinese shrimp toast. If you've not had this it's a deep fried cube of minced shrimp and dough and has this salty flavor and melty interior after that initial crunch on the deep fried exterior SCALLION PANCAKES - the deep fried variety so expect that - crunchy exterior and slight chew inside. My go to spot in the area if I need a fix of Chinese takeout. read more

This used to be our go to Chinese place. We have lots of choices close by. But the last few times it has gone down hill and last night was the final straw. Ordered the Chicken lo Mein with Fried Rice and egg roll combo dinner, Sesame Wontons and General Tso There were 3 tiny pieces of chicken in my lo mein. The noodles were so overdone they stuck to my teeth. The egg roll was so crusty I could have used it to hammer a nail. The fried rice had nothing in it. Just yellow rice with no taste. The General Tso chicken was a combo of some form of chicken and I have no idea what else. The sesame wonton was undercooked with some sort of bean looking guck in the middle. Usually I save Chinese for the next day. This time it went straight to the garbage, only saving the white rice. Not going back here again. read more

The food was good. But the service is terrible. Also pricey. I ordered 2 general tso combos and boneless spare ribs. Took almost an hour. And then when it got here, there was only 1 general tso. Had to wait almost another hour just for one general tso combo. Also cost me almost $40 just for those when I've gotten it at other places for almost half. read more

I normally don't like Chinese take-out because it's always oily and makes me feel disgusting after eating it. I decided to try this out because I was hungry and I'm really glad I did. I've gotten the shrimp Lo mein, chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice, egg drop soup, and steamed chicken and loved everything. The reason why I like it so much is that, obviously Chinese food is cooked with oil, but when I was eating my lo mein it didn't taste oily at all. The fried rice was great too and didn't taste oily. Although I wished there was more chicken in the chicken chow mein, it was still pretty good. One of the coolest things about this is that the lunch special you can get a bowl with half of the lo mein and half with fried rice, and it's a great portion of both. It's sad because now this place is my go-to take out restaurant and I usually like the fact that I don't like Chinese food. I guess I'll have to go to the gym more often (it's a good thing the LA Fitness is right next door). read more

Saying the food was disappointing would be an understatement. The Mei Fun tasted like it had liquid smoke in it. The General Tso's Shrimp was overdone and dry. The green beans in the dish were undercooked. The Sesame Sauce Wontons were dry and the sauce not smooth. The Egg rolls were overdone and chewy. They should have called the Shrimp with mixed vegetables Shrimp with broccoli as there wasn't much else in the way of vegetables in it. Not to mention the broccoli looked old and much of it was yellow. I don't mind paying close to $70 to have food delivered when it's good, but this meal wasn't even edible. I didn't bother to call up and complain as they weren't very receptive one time on a minor issue. Less learned to never buy food from them again. read more

I usually get this food delivered but I picked it up once. It's one of the better Chinese takeout places in the immediate area. The prices are great too; Sunday lunch specials are cheaper than on weekdays. The food is fresh and tastes great. They delivered to my house which was a couple miles away. Thanks so much! Standard take out Chinese food geared towards the American palate, but in my opinion, one of the better ones in the area. I've ordered from here quite a few times while visiting relatives that live close by. There was nothing that knocked my socks off, but nothing was terrible either. I should give no stars but in order to leave a review you have to give atleast one star. I ordered eggplant with garlic sauce, i got halfway through my meal when i took a bite and it was a pieceof chicken. I immediately spit it out and then threw up......i will never order from this shit hole place again.....no where on the menu does it say chicken nor did i ask for it. I have not eaten any meat in 2 1/2 years. I even asked what was used in the sauce and told them that i was vegan. They said it was fine that there was no meat, or animal products in my food. Put in a large order of a variety of dishes for a large group of people. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food was prepared quickly (I picked up). They even helped me bring 2 large bags of food to my car. Food was very hit and miss. Fries lacked seasoning, general Tso's shrimp was almost all breading. The more traditional sesame chicken and chicken and broccoli were more acceptable. Had some fried chicken wings which were very saucy. Rice was acceptable. I recommend just sticking with the classics. They have an online ordering system which makes it easier to place orders and pay with a credit card. read more

I love Chinese food, and this place is one of the better places on Long Island, maybe even the best one on Long Island lol. You have a clear view on how they make the food and you can tell fresh ingredients are going into your meal. Also I ordered for delivery this one time and it was extremely fast and the delivery boy is extremely nice. If you live around tasty house order from here. I love this place. Normally at Chinese take out you get really oily food and then you regret buying it but tasty house is refreshingly new as they do not use too much oil in cooking their food! Fair prices for what the area is! We like to order for take out but they do have seating, favorites are the lo Mein and diet chicken and broccoli and steamed chicken dumplings. I live around the block from this place , very good Chinese food , my favorite here is between the General Tso or Dragon/Phoenix Orders are always correct when delivered or picked up , and they are very good at accommodating special requests (xtraspicy , no extra oils , ect.) The wonton soup is delicious, some don't like it , but it has more of a authentic taste compared to some of the clear yellow broths most places have, and the egg noodles given with the soup are by far the best I've ever had. read more

Really was looking forward to enjoying my chinese food Anniversary dinner for sentimental old times sake....so since when do you NOT get white rice when ordering 2 full size entrees ??? ...not combination plates. Also ordered pork fried rice & asked for no onions... not only did it not have onions but no egg, peas or anything else that goes into fried rice- ONLY pork. To top it off... fortune cookie was EMPTY... no fortune inside ! WOW ... how sad BTW... if you have coupons on your take out menu & a customer's order is over a certain amount of money that it offers a free item, why not just include it ? Geez !!! I usually order from here when I need a Chinese fix. I've always been pleased with everything and the food isn't greasy. Even the sesame chicken, which is made with white meat. The only thing that I noticed was lacking flavor is the egg drop soup so I order wonton (plus the wonton noodles are yummy). The curry chicken is amazing. I ordered the combo with brown rice. They accommodated my special request, of cooking it with little oil and little onions. It had the right amount of spice, as well as very good chicken. Another time, I tried the wonton soup, and that was not good at all :-(. It was very greasy, and tasteless. Best Chinese food in this area. I've never been disappointed. I order through Beyond Menu and the food is always here within 30 minutes. The delivery people are genuinely nice and if they have a question about my online order, they call me to make sure I'm getting what I want. We order here at least once a week and I have yet to find better Chinese food. read more

I think this is the best Chinese food around and I tried a lot! First of all they are very nice and accommodating (I always want my sauce on the side) and the sauces are very good, not oily! I love their chicken, no weird texture , good quality that's cooked well. We ordered takeout three days in row from her it's so good! We ordered just Friday night. By far the best Chinese place around. We've gone here for a number of years and I can't even remember when we switched from Wing Wah on Old Town to this place. They certainly have tenure because they have been there for as long as my 23 years if not longer. It's a family-owned business, the owners are always so nice to me and my family and always offer us a free order of dumplings ot soda because we order so much. ($50 for 4 people for the amount of food you get is pretty great.) We're frequent customers, almost once a week if not more. Some highlights I think are the chicken noodle soup they have, it will cure what ails you, I recommend for anyone with a cold or on a rainy day. I love their chicken anything, chicken with broccoli, general tso's, orange, their chicken pad thai isn't bad. Plain fried rice is always a winner for me. Their Lo Mein is first rate. My dad has resolved to try something new every time, from Moo Shu, Egg Foo Young and pork with... and hasn't found something he hasn't liked yet. Mom has found a favorite in veggie chow fun. My brother is a one track mind shrimp lo mein kind of guy. The only thing I would say is isn't recommended is delivery. But that's because they're such a small business that one of the cooks has to go out to drive, I'm sure. The cooks and preparers have always steered me against going for delivery cause it's just inconvenient. Great place with great people making great food for a great price. read more
