This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I should have trusted my gut when we pulled up and saw that there was a pay by the hour hotel across the street. I didn't pick the hotel, we were there for a team event. The hotel desk was not helpful at all. There was black mold all over the bathroom. I requested that it be cleaned and it never was. We arrived very late on Friday night and I requested it be taken care of at 8:30am on Saturday. They had all day Saturday to clean the bathroom. When we arrived back to the room after 10pm, the mold was still there. There was rust and stains everywhere. The towels had holes in them. On Friday night a shirtless woman was running through the parking lot and was arrested. We were told by the front desk that "everything is fine, it happens." Friday night the tornado sirens were going off we were looking for someplace safe to go and again the front desk staff said not to worry and to just be quiet in the lobby, WHAT?!? Also on Friday night, there was no hot water and were told to just wait 15 minutes. Wait for hot water for $150 per night?!? The last straw was when they charged me 4 times for the hotel room and I was told to just wait 3-5 days to see if it refunds!!! We were there for a basketball tourney and one of the other families said they found a roach in their room. Had I seen that, I would have left immediately. I have asked for a full refund and was told too bad by Wyndham Customer service. I'm being punished for staying the second night when I gave them a chance to clean the room. It was too late when we returned on Saturday to find a new hotel. This hotel should be shut down. read more

Nice, clean rooms. The place looks new but, I was told it's 35 years old! Seriously, no scuff marks on baseboards or scratches on walls. Breakfast was wonderful with a wide variety of choices. Food made fresh daily by Giati. A wonderful stay, will definitely return! read more

Pros: Good breakfast. Good water pressure in the shower. Cons: No pool. Our room (325) smelled strange whenever the AC was on. Also, there was mold growing on the ceiling in the bathroom. Obvious signs of a leak on the floor above. Really, I'm only posting this so that if someone else gets that room and the problem isn't fixed, there's documentation on it. We did tell the night clerk, who did offer to put us in a different room, and was very apologetic. Unfortunately, there wasn't another room with 3 beds, so we just chose to stay. We did make sure that the morning clerk was aware of the problem, as well. read more

Do not go here unless you want to be ripped off. We paid in advance on Hotwire so when we checked in I gave my credit card for "incidentals". We didn't charge anything to the room, and only stayed less than 12 hours, but when I checked my ccd I saw a pending charge for over $100. I asked the front desk guy before leaving and he denied that they charged anything. I had to pull up my ccd info to prove it to which he only could say it wouldn't go thru. Well surprise surprise the next day it cleared. I knew they were trying to get away with stealing my money so I immediately filed a fraud complaint with my ccd company and a complaint with their corporate offices. I don't know how many others they have done this to but be careful. read more

I'll start with the positive- the lady at the front desk was absolutely lovely. That's it. Everything else was old, broken or just filthy.

Wingate by Wyndham Memphis East is actually one of the BEST hotels stays that I've experienced in a long time. We checked in around 12:30 am after a grueling road trip from Mobile, Alabama, and were greeted by Nish working the front desk. Nish welcomed us to the property and promptly checked us in. Arriving at the room was a highly anticipated venture and after entering the room, my first impression was amazing. The room was immaculate and the room arrangement was perfect. All furnishings looked new, the bedding was inviting, the bathroom was well stocked and had the comforts of home and the room environment setting was perfect. Personally, It takes me a while before I am able to fall asleep in a bed I'm not familiar with, but at this hotel, the bedding gave me the impression that I was sleeping on a cloud and I ended the day knowing that I stayed at the perfect place. After getting a night of great and restful sleep, I checked out the breakfast and was also pleased with a great selection of hot food, selection of bread, cereals, fruit and many beverage options. Sangeeta was the breakfast attendant and checked on me often to ensure I was having a great experience. Wingate Memphis East is conveniently located next to a convenience store which was also a great source of needed items. The interior of the hotel is immaculate in design and the exterior was spotless. This hotel has a well-stocked mini-store that is well stocked. Overall I give Wingate Memphis East a well-deserved A+ rating and is highly recommended for personal and business stays. read more

I checked out early in the morning and wrote the following review 5 hours ago, within minutes after i left the hotel. The guy at the front just called to ask us to return the pillow we took otherwise he would charge $15 for it. He said the hpusekeeper couldnt locate 6th pillow in the room. Well, this one did it. I moved a star from the review. Also, we moved the 6th pillow into the closet. I guess they dont clean the closets! --- original review written at 8 am ---- Staying here made me sad. Really dirty and very unpleasant. First the hotel called me in the morning and asked when we were coming in. I told them at 5 but we ended up coming in at 3. She told us since i said i wad coming in late they didnt clean the room yet and that they were taking time to do so. That was pretty bizzarre. As far as ratings go - It had a good rating on trip advisor when i booked it. I only checked reviews on yelp when i was checking in. That was a mistake, yelp was right. The lobby was a bit outdated when i was checking in but cleanish. The staff was friendly so i thought was ok until i went in the room. Everything was outdated dusty and dirty. The only thing they seem to do is pick up trash and change bed with old bedsheets. Pretty bad. The bedsheet made me itchy all night. I scratched my feet until they bled. The bed sheet got blood on it which made me realize what brown stains on bedsheet were. Shower curtain smelled musty. They prob dont wash that as often as they should. Breakfast was ready at 6. They had waffles cereal pastry etc made me think oh at least one thing look decent. I couldnt b more wrong. Sausage tasted freezer burn n cold. Waffle smelled and tasted a bit old. Boiled egg was soaked in vinegar. The only things edible were banana, pastry and cereal. This hotel was pretty bad. We paid over $100here which only deserved to be a $60 motel. This place seemed to be family owned.. or i could be being a racist. I would say stay away from this hotel but it looks like many motels in memphis are like this. All mearby motels looked outdated and sad like this one. read more

This hotel is in a sketchy part of town. It took me over 30 min to check in and during that time 2 other customers came in and had to get their key cards reissued. The outside doors are locked, and the key cards don't work. It would have been nice if they put signs up, it would have saved me from walking around the entire hotel to get back in after walking my dog. The only redeeming feature is they allow dogs. Stains on the sheets and the room is weirdly set up. The bed is at an angle to the tv, making it difficult to watch. read more

We stayed there for 1 night while driving cross country and it was cool. The parking sucks but aside from that the beds were soft, the linen was clean and the ice machine worked. Rooms were decent and it is located right next to a store so we stocked up on goodies for the road without having to drive somewhere. Do not stay at this hotel they have roaches and it is very dirty. I stayed there with my 2 kids and had to up and leave at midnight. Do not make the mistake of wasting $100 and having to go pay another $150 in the middle of the night. They do not give refunds and say people will still show up even though they have roaches. The one star is for the presentation but the elevator smelled like dogs. I had no idea or knowledge dogs would be in every room, to where the odor was disgusting and unbearable.To top it all the tho the receptionist was nice she took 10 minutes per person just to get them booked. if I could give zero starts I would. Beds have debris and hair in them. Look as if not washed in a long time. one couple we met on the elevator was on there third try for a good room. first one had not lights that worked, 2nd room I did not hear. then on my way back down I met another person whos room door wouldn't open bec it was barricaded from inside. so it is obvious they didn't clean that room. still had someone in it. My company paid for the room and sent me a receipt. I am glad they did because the 2 girls at the desk played a real food game of fast change. one said she had to bill incidental charge of $150 to my personal card. then she got called away then the next girl said she would have to bill a$150 incidentAl charge. I said the other lady just did that. then she proceeded to tell me she did it wrong do they would have to do it again. I told her no my phone shows the charge just happened we are not doing it again. now the told me I had to pay for the room. I shows them the receipt from my company. they told me well that just held the room now you have to pay for it. this place is a total ripof. DO NOT STAY here under any circumstance. read more

While traveling across country with pets, especially cats, it is often difficult to find decent hotels to accommodate your needs. La Quinta, with the exception of a few properties, are generally very happy to accommodate pets and, they do so without charge. After traveling across country for five days, this was the last night of our five day trip. We seriously needed a good bed in a secure room that was clean, comfortable and affordable. The La Quinta in Memphis East-Sycamore View was just the ticket. Our room was large, modern, clean and comfortable. It was furnished with a large wide screen TV, a microwave, coffee bar and refrigerator. Everything was fresh, smelled clean and looked brand new. And the beds were better than some I have slept in at hotels charging $200 or more a night! In fact, over the years, I have come to experience some of the best beds in the hotel industry at La Quintas. But the best thing about the stay is this: they accepted my kitty, and we all know that a happy kitty means a happy trip the following day. Thank you La Quinta ... you continue to be at the top of my travel list. read more

Worst hotel stay I've ever experienced. My sink flooded in the middle of the night, old dirty water with hair, maggots and chunks of God only knows flooded the counter and floor. I went to tell the employee at the desk and he gave me a towel and told me to deal with it. Very rude and unprofessional throughout the whole time I dealt with him. He accused me of putting a stopper in the sink and running the water, he came and checked it out and the pipes were leaking and the sink stopper wasn't in it and it was filled with water overflowing but he still tried blaming me. I got very agitated and asked for another room since ours was flooding and he thought that was a bizarre request and said there was no rooms he could give us and he said this multiple times, turns out he just didn't want to do anything about it because once I went to the front desk and started getting a little more riled up he said he could put me in a double room and double bed, all he had to do was make one phone call and if they didn't pick up the room would be mine. Well the person he called sent it straight to voicemail so he said the room was mine. He did his thing on the computer and handed me some sheets which I thought was odd seeing as they usually already have the sheets on the beds, I asked him what it was for and he said the room only had a king bed and pullout couch. So he lied about the room and booked us in another one. At that point me and my friends just wanted to get back to bed so I just had to let it go and walk away. The room I thought was pretty nice until I pulled the couch out and the metal springs were popping out of the mattress and was wore slap out. Come checkout time the next morning I was going to talk to another employee or manager about the whole situation but no one was at the front desk, we waited and waited but no one ever came to the desk so I just left my room keys there and we headed out. Still haven't been able to reach anyone at the hotel. I'm generally a pretty easy to please kind of person and I do get this happens from time to time but with the way the employee lied, accused us and handled the whole situation was unprofessional from start to finish. I would rate zero star's if possible. Unprofessional is a understatement. read more

An absolute terrible experience. I would have selected zero stars but that was not an option. Me and my friends were laying in bed about to go to sleep when we hear water running. Our sink was overflowing with water and it was running out into the floor. We had to use towels and trash cans to contain the water. We told the front desk and they only sent us back with a towel and a "we can't do anything about that." Then, we made a second trip to the front desk, talked with the same employee who sent us back with a towel, we explained the situation of how the water was coming UP from the drain. The tap was not on. The drain was not plugged. There was just water, hair, debris, and MAGGOTS coming up from the drain. The employee kept accusing us of having the tap on. We demanded another room and he said that there wasn't any rooms available, when there was. He was expecting us to stay in our room with water overflowing from the sink causing a flooded room. We eventually got another room and the situation was over. We were planning on speaking to the manager if there was one on duty that morning but there was no one to be found at the front desk. We waited and waited for someone to come but no one ever showed up to do their job so we left our room keys and left. I do not recommend this hotel. Something like that could happen anywhere and at any hotel. It's no one's fault that it happened. The real problem was how the employee handled the whole situation. It was absolutely ridiculous. read more

The General Manager needs to address customer complaints and answer his phone messages. I was kept awake, outside in the hallway for an extended amount of time in the middle of the night while the staff attempted to fix my door lock. The staff and facility attendant were very nice but the entire ordeal was aggravating and disruptive. I really thought the front desk clerk would give me an automatic discount but instead said she would leave my "folio" out for the GM. I have sent emails, left messages, contacted the corporate office and have still never heard back. Now that I realize there is no attention to detail or consideration for customers who have been inconvenienced, I will be certain to submit an appropriate review on all travel platforms. ALL because the General Manager is discourteous and inconsiderate. read more

This was a very nice hotel. We were in town due to a death in the family. We had anticipated only staying 1 night and wound up staying 3 nights. The staff members were very friendly. A retired officer told us to "watch out over there, there are alot of drugs and car break-ins" but we never felt threatened or concerned. We would definitely stay here again if ever back in the area. Only thing I would have changed is more breakfast options (if even just upon request) for gluten free guests. read more

DO NOT go to this hotel if you're in Memphis. It appears to be a decent hotel but at night it turn into something different!! I had the worst experiences at this hotel my next door neighbor had 2 big pit bulls that she left unattended that barked all night. My TV didn't work and my room carpet smelled like mold. The icing on the cake was I was double charged. The front desk person charged me 1 night for a cancelled room and I paid to stay in another room. I'm still waiting to hear from there Corporate office which takes 7 to 10 days to contact you. It's also a bit far from Beale street and the new amazing river walk. read more

Horrible case of bed bugs!! My daughter stayed here with her youth group June 17-20th 2019 and came home with a doctor confirmed case of bed bug bites. We have not been able to get a manger to return calls. 8 rooms total have reported bites. I do not recommend staying at the location! read more

First the bad. Parking is sparse. We actually had a horse trailer and had to find offsite parking because we didn't know that there were no trailers allowed until we got here. Which was probably my fault. I'm sure it said it somewhere on the website. The room smelled weird, almost like moldy cheez it's and the thermostat had to be turned on by the front desk before it would work and it was super hot in the room when we came in. The area surrounding doesn't seem like the best neighborhood. Several homeless people camped out in the lot next to the building. Trash everywhere on the ground. Pool closed because of covid. All that being said, the staff was super friendly and accommodating and the room was clean. The mattresses were comfortable and the pillows were full sized and comfortable. The water pressure was good in the shower and the hot water temp was actually hot. read more

Lipstick on a pig, they've tried to cover up problems with some redecorating but the awful smell, the stained and broken ceiling tiles, the old AC, the endless and stupid rules (no entry through side doors, $250 fine if you leave your pup while you go out to dinner...) After waking up to find our car missing from the lot, the young girl at the counter was completed unapologetic and even laughed at us a few times. As my wife and I approached the hotel, she had a sense of déjà vu. It turns out that she had stayed here before with family a long time ago although the lobby pool she recalled was replaced by a breakfast area. This hotel was conveniently located less than a mile from I-40 on a strip of other budget-to-moderate level hotels. The immediate surroundings weren't very attractive but I did not feel unsafe. Our accessible room looked good but there were some issues getting on the very high mattress. We called the front desk who seemed to know this was a chronic problem as they had a stepstool on standby for guests to use. The hotel staff did bring up the stepstool promptly. The free breakfast had a nice variety. I was very disappointed in the fitness center, a tiny box with maybe two pieces of old cardio equipment. I would recommend this property to people with long legs who are not intimidated by typical urban surroundings. The staff may not be able to help the location but they need to lower the height of the bed and mattress. read more

We are on a 6 week trip and stay in LaQuinta Inns all across the nation. This is the worst. I reserved a handicapped king and was told the reservation came into their system as a double. We are celebrating our wedding anniversary!!! Why would I reserve a double room (which I have never done!). The room smells. I am handicapped and they put us on the 2nd floor, a great inconvenience even with an elevator. There was a blood stain found on my sheet. They would do nothing when I voiced my complaints. I couldn't breathe this morning because of the wet dog smell, due to allergies. This will make me rethink our next hotel stay. I am appalled! Can't wait for the survey. read more

On my way back to Texas, after a long 15+ hour drive from NYC, I needed a place to stay. It was important the hotel I stayed at accepted pets with a reasonable fee. My feline traveling companion was tired and edgy too-- carrier fever. This La Quinta was perfect!! It was non-smoking, clean and affordable. A big plus, No pet fee! Which proved a clean-pet-accepting hotel doesn't need a huge non-refundable fee. In my opinion kids can be worse in destruction of property and noise than pets. Kudos to the front desk person, Pratima. She is warm and friendly. My only complaint is the bed is too high. I had to be careful getting off it when nature called in the middle of the night (I know TMI). However, it was very comfortable once resting on it. Hope this helps! read more
