I thought Wings Over Madison was pretty decent. The wings are a good size, as advertised. There's much more meat on it than at other places that I've been to. We ordered 25 wings, and we were allowed to get 5 different flavors. We got Hot Garlic, Sweet Chili, Garlic Parmesan, Mustang Ranch, and Texas Mesquite. I loved the Garlic Parmesan and the Sweet Chili. I wasn't a fan of the Hot Garlic - it tasted just like buffalo sauce. I didn't get much of the garlic flavor in there. The dry rubs are really good here. It was a Saturday before all the college football games, and my order for pick up was ready in 15 minutes. I was surprised! Some crazy awesome UW-Madison College kids told me this was the place to go and that they were better than Buffalo Wild Wings. 10 years later, I'm still a faithful customer, so this review will hodl more weight than any other review you will see. Now service wise, the staff are very friendly, very chill, people-people, you know? They do deliver mostly around the Down Town Area and University Ave area, if you live Far West or Far East like I do, you'll have to come pickup. Best thing to do is call ahead or place your order online. Check out their Website for the menu. I love that they are open late when you're craving something good and tasty and filling. The store is clean with cool decor of yellow and navy blue wall accents, pictures of planes, has a flat screen TV, tables and chairs, nice setting while you wait. Wait times are pretty quick as well. Now in terms of the food, A1! Best Wings you are going to find in Madison. My Go-To's are the "Hangar 1" which comes with 5-7 Meaty Chicken Tenderloins and about a pound or half pound of fries, and a canned beverage, I go with the fuse*tea. My second Go-To is the F16 which comes Ala Carté with 15 Bone-In Wings. My favorite Sauces are "Red Alert" "Jamaican Jerk" and the very delicious "Sweet Chili"! I'm a spice kinda guy so these flavors are an awesome mild to medium heat, but the key to your sauce game is to ask for (Xxtra Wet On); These will keep your Wings well coated with Sauce and make for great dipping for your fries instead of the ketchup packets lol. The fries come crinkle cut (stick with that) or waffle. Freshly hot and well salted. Honey BBQ or the other BBQ's they have is good as well. Expect to pay anywhere from $10-20, great portions, great flavors, fresh and hot. You likely will not finish it all in one sitting, this is guaranteed to get you full. Lemon Pepper was decent, it's pretty much a rub instead of a sauce (I'd prefer a sauce) but the rub was a good blend of flavors. They have delicious onion rings as well! Wings is a staple delivery spot in our household. They actually have pretty good and meaty wings (bone-in) and such a variety of sauces. They deliver fast & are close by. My favorite are the Cajun dry rub, honey mustard, and blazin buffalo. You also can't order from Wings without also getting a basket of waffle fries with the cheese sauce, it's DELICIOUS. Wings over is cheat day heaven, and a great meal on football sundays when you don't feel like cooking any food at home. I may have to say this place has the best tasting wings in Madison so far. They sell by the weight, not by ###. This is mostly set up for delivery or takeout, not a place for sit-in eating. If you want wings and only wings for takeout or delivery, this is your place. Prices are good, wings and sauces are quality, and they are pretty fast. They have other food like ribs and sandwiches that aren't too bad if you are adding them to an order, but the wings are the way to go (hence their name). Only reason for not 5 stars is how they serve the food. They are awesome about letting you do multiple sauce options, and more than happy to accommodate splitting orders. Btu then they place all the wings in a single container split with only a singly piece of thin wax paper or aluminum foil. Maybe that works if dining in, but by the time the food is delivered, the sauces are all mixed and jumbled sloppy all over each other. A significant problem if some people in your group wanted Hot Garlic Spicy stuff, and others wanted sweet Honey Mustard. This place is like a little hole in the wall in Cali that gives you a sense that the food is about to be delicious. Nope...I went to this place and got the B-1(25 wings), tat comes with the option of 5 flavors. I chose, 10 with Lemon Pepper seasoning, 5 Honey Barbecue, 5 Jamaican Jerk and 5 Garlic Pepper...Each set of wings had 2 things in common: They were cooked well, they were also under seasoned. To the point where I could not taste the seasoning at all. I could see it, but couldn't taste it. I re-seasoned the chicken with my homemade Old Bay Barbecue sauce, and the chicken finally tasted like it had been cooked with the intention to be eaten. My friend and I were pretty disappointed with our experience about a month ago and yet again on Saturday night. A month ago, we received the complete wrong order for delivery, so we called the restaurant and we were told they'd resend our order. Upon the second delivery, we were upset to see that our order was messed up...again! Twice in one night! We immediately called again and the girl who answered the phone was very kind in the way she handled the problem. She offered us store credit. However, when we called the other night to redeem our credit we were told that it was never recorded so they would not be able to honor it. They messed up our order twice, and then couldn't even properly give us store credit! Wings are expensive (especially for broke college students) and we wasted money on orders that were never correct. We never got our money back because somewhere along the way someone forgot to record our credit!! When we called to redeem our credit there was no effort to problem solve or dig deeper. She simply told us that it was never recorded so she could not give us our credit. I would like to say that when offered the credit about a month ago, I made it a point to ask if I should do anything on my end like keep the receipt or log the call in some way. The lady on the phone told us it would be handled...and it never was! We go with one half pound of Garlic Parmesan Tenders (this dry rub flavoring has ALWAYS been a winner!) and use the other half pound of tenders to explore a new flavor-of-the-night from their menu. The West Texas Mesquite flavor we tried on our most recent order may not have been Parm Garlic, but it was still 4/5ths as tasty - the hint of sweetness with the Mesquite rub was a noteworthy and welcome surprise a well. I always order food for delivery when I'm in town on business as they deliver to the hotel I stay at while I'm in Madison. The wings are awesome! True jumbo size and the quality of the meat is nice, tender, juicy, and flavorful. The wings are priced a little more than what you would pay at other wing joints but it's definitely worth spending the extra money. Delivery drivers are friendly and the food arrives quickly and still hot. I suggest try a split order of Jetfuel buffalo and Jamaican jerk. Jetfuel is pretty spicy with a very distinct taste, like a different blend of peppers is used and that's a good thing. The jamaican jerk isn't a traditional jerk sauce but more of a bbq sauce with the flavors you would expect from a jerk marinade. Wow, now those were some good wings! I got the puddle jumper with cruising altitude and honey BBQ sauce and my girlfriend got the DC-3 with parmesan garlic dry rub. Both were delicious! On top of delicious wings the delivery was quick and the wings were still hot on arrival. The puddle jumper had 10 of the biggest bone in wings I have ever seen, and were evenly covered in sauce. There was a quit a bit of extra sauce on the bottom so the last few wings were kinda soggy but still real good. The best part is it was plenty of food for me. The DC-3 had some huge boneless wings, borderline chicken tender size. The rub was tasty and there was plenty of it evenly covering the wings. They had a great flavor however, they were a little chewy maybe just a bit over done? Even with that they were still good and it was plenty of food. Overall, we really liked the wings and totally will be getting them again to try all the different flavors. If you're looking for some good wings, give wings over Madison a shot. read more

The good: these guys make decent wings with good flavor and a decent selection on the menu. The price is right for the amount of wings you get and it beats the chain wings hands down for good late night crispy wings. And they deliver! The bad: it takes a while to get your order if you place it in the store. They tell you it will be 15 minutes regardless of the number of people standing around, and that is just an arbitrary time. It is never 15 minutes. The menu is also a little difficult to follow. The restaurant (I hesitate to even call it that) is barren and uncomfortable at best, appealing only to drunk college kids. The ugly: dirty. Dirty tables, dirty counters and dirty employee hands. During my "15 minutes" I witnessed not one, but two employees use the restroom and flush then walk straight out. No hand washing and at least one of them never did before touching an order. The other disappeared into the kitchen. A third went outside to smoke, then returned to handle orders without washing as well. Though I have been here in the past, this is my last visit. I can overlook a lot, but food safety is not something anyone should take lightly. These guys need some adult supervision. Calling Restaurant Impossible! These guys desperately need your Robert Irvine. Update: I have been contacted by the owner and assured that the staff will be retrained on cleanliness and personal hygiene. I've ordered from WoM several times. I give them four stars, though depending on the day I would drop them to three stars. See below. First, I can say that I only ever eat boneless wings, and Wings has some of the best in Madison. However, the quality definitely varies from order to order; sometimes you get four to eight very big juicy wings (exactly what you want), other times you get one or two good ones and a bunch of skinny breaded... Things. The flavor selection is pretty solid. I can definitely recommend their dry rubs, but sometime the sauce usage seems somewhat excessive... And sometimes spills over or overwhelms the plastic delivery box! Second, the sides are pretty lackluster. I know they're known for wings but would it kill you to have decent French fries (see the other reviews - they usually come soggy and bland). The onion rings would be better if they weren't so salty, but I'd take those over the fries. However, I will note that I am usually impressed with their delivery service. It's usually quite fast and the folks who have done the delivering are quite friendly. Beyond that, they do seem to care about their customers. Once I ordered during a rainstorm and they called to apologize because their delivery drivers couldn't drive that day (road was flooded), but they did offer me a $5 credit (on top of a full refund).
