If you're a wing person, this place deserves a spot on your radar. The setup is counter service -- think along the lines of Culver's. You walk up, place your order at the bar, grab a number, and find a table. Tables are first come, first served, so if you see one open, take it. Drinks are a cooler of options or beer and soda on tap. Cash is preferred -- there's a fee if you pay with a card. The vibe is Wisconsin dive bar, in the best way. I ordered the dry rub wings. The flavor was fantastic -- the kind where you don't need a sauce, but you reach for the ranch anyway because it's that good. Seriously, that ranch dressing could go on anything. They are I guess so busy when I've gone. Don't come here if you are on a lunch break. Your break would need to be about 1.5 hour lunch to be safe. Got dry rub wings w/ blue cheese. 7/10. This place is a little weird. You aren't sure how to order or what to do when you come to this dive. The best place to sit is the counter. They take your order there anyways and it's convenient for drinking refills! Food here is super affordable. We got the fried mushrooms, chicken sandwich, and the wings in their sauce. I pulled up to this house off of County Road N, with a half a dozen pick ups trucks in the lot. I went inside. It's a typical dark single story bar with tables, darts, seating around the bar... a typical Wisconsin bar. What surprised me on an afternoon was the bar is full, and people were either eating or waiting for the delivery of their food and having a late afternoon adult beverage. I decided to sit at the bar, ask for a menu and was promptly waited on. As I was deciding, which level of spice or seasoning to order, several at the bar chimed in with recommendations. After looking through the menu, I placed my order for a dry rub chicken wing, And their basic mild chicken wings. The order took about 10-12 minutes, and came out in two separate plates. The wings were crisp, and cooked perfectly, and the dry rub was delicious not too spicy, but a little bit of heat. The mild wings came out and we're just crispy and delicious. My son and I came here for a late lunch to check out this place that has been on my bucket list for a couple of years. I am sad to say that I haven't come here sooner! The wings are absolutely superb, and we loved the buffalo, however, we wished we would've asked about the original sauce before ordering. It seems that it is a housemaid, spicier version of the buffalo - which we would have appreciated! Ranch was good, seemed like it was homemade. We didn't try the buffalo but apparently it's liked well enough to sell it by the pint! My rail drink was $2.75 during happy hour, which was cheaper than my son soda! Heavy pours, and super friendly Bartenders round out a great experience! I can see why it expanded to a chain! Sometimes there's no reason to have an extensive menu if what you do is really good. I made the trip to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin this past Sunday for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car event at Angell Park Speedway. This was my second visit to Sun Prairie. I knew that I wanted to find a local place to stop and eat before heading to the track. Thanks to Youtuber Sam Reid who a series on "The Quest for The Best Wings in America." I watched his whole series, because who doesn't love chicken wings? He did a stop at Chicken Lick's, and when I knew where it was located, I made a mental note that I would need to stop. I walked into the bar mid-afternoon, about 1:30 or so and it was pretty calm, maybe only four other customers. Shortly after, it started to pick up. I knew from the video that I needed to try their famous dry rub wings. So, placed my order for the wings & a Doc to drink (Pepsi's version of Dr. Pepper). It took about 15 minutes or so to get my food. The wings came out in a small boat adorned with celery on the side. I'm not a ranch or bleu cheese type of person so it was just wings for me. They were fried perfectly, and had a great crisp to them. None of the wings had any tendon-y stringiness or rubbery chew to them. They were absolutely fantastic. I learned after I had ordered that you can get the dry rub seasoning on anything... fried pickles, cheese curds, pub chips, etc. Boy, I wish I would've done that! Overall, 9/10 for the wings - and a 4-Star review. Job well done to the staff in the kitchen for cranking out some great food! I hope to visit again! read more

Was in the area for an event, and a local friend suggested it. As others have commented, a "dive bar" atmosphere - but I found it less dive bar and more a basement vibe. Good crowd for a Monday night. Beer selection was fine. The menu was less than descriptive so I relied on my "host" to place the order. One dry rub, one original and one buffalo. All were about as expected- and although I'm not a wing connoisseur, they were good but not extraordinary. But here's the rub (pun intended) - my local host and I were talking politics. Not loudly. Not arguing. And not, in either of our opinions, obnoxiously. And yet, the bartender came over and said she wanted us to cut our conversation off. Like stop talking politics. We were both paying attention and didn't feel we were being disruptive at all. And yet... here we were. Our conversation was actually fairly neutral with criticism toward both parties. But the bartender decided we should stop talking about it. Had we been disrespectful or disruptive or causing a scene or eliciting looks or complaints- I could perhaps understand. If the place was packed (which it wasn't at the time)... maybe. But that was not the case. I wasn't even sure how to respond as I have NEVER encountered this... it was odd and awkward. I might suggest it was because of the way we both lean - but I'm not even sure that matters (unless it did to the bartender). I have been going to this place for 6 years. The last 3 times I visited the wings were subpar. I have always ordered dry rub 1 x sexy with dry rub tots. The 1st time the wings were not sexy at all, little or no seasoning. The second time the wings were soggy & wet, tried a few and tossed tbe rest. Just last night tried them again and boy...things have changed. The wings were over fried, they were tough as a piece of jerky. The wings looked like they were fried twice, dark in color from old oil, not the old golden wings. The magic dry rub is always good...but the wings ..... A far cry of what it used to be!!! First time here and we were impressed. Excellent bartenders who managed to keep up with the crowd on this busy night. Thirteen bucks for a basket of chicken wings. Everything we had was good but we preferred the dry rub over the "original" because they are already heavily sauced. Great wings. Been here once, but it was late and I was too drunk to appreciate. Have always heard they were good. I'm a huge fan of chicken wings and I appreciate the dry rub here. They get an excellent crispiness with using a crazy amount of breading. Dry rub isn't too hot, perfect for casually eating. If you like it hot, you'll want something stronger. Not sure how hot things get after the dry rub, but they were perfect w a beer for me. Came in at 4pm on a Wednesday. The cook came out and served them hot right too me. The bartender was friendly. Good place to go when it's not busy. I've tried to come in on a Friday/weekend evening and it's so busy that, unless you're a regular, it'll be tough getting a drink or a seat. I prefer this weekend late afternoon feel. Open bar seats and quick friendly service. The feel is def what you expect. The ambiance is country bar. It's a little bit country for me, but the food and service make up for it. I see myself coming here more on early weekday evening/late afternoons, but the weekend/late night is t my cup of tea. First off, the food is excellent. Best wings in Dane County by far. The bartender, however, ruined my whole experience. I was sitting nearby to a guy who described something he was talking about as "gay." The bartender freaked out on him, insulting him and saying something like "Im sure you're smart enough to come up with better words." Then, when he was about to pay, she said that he needed to come up with an extra FIFTY CENTS on the bill (after having insulted him previously) or she would CALL THE POLICE! Didn't even try to help, or say that the amount he gave wasn't enough, just threatened him. Ruined my whole experience. If the food weren't so good I'd leave a one star review. Having lived in Western NY, the heart of chicken wing country, for over three decades I have had a chance to try all varieties (and quality) of wings besides the classic Buffalo wings. We heard about Chicken Lips (Licks?) and were excited to give them a try since I had yet to find a good local wing place in the Madison area. They explained that the original were spicier than the dry rub. If you wanted mild you had to get them naked - really plain wings? Seems like a pretty lame excuse for a mild wing. The dry rub wings were good with a bit of heat. We did not care for the original they were coated in a thick paste of what tasted like chili powder with some sauce - the paste was too much. They were a bit spicy but not hot. I have never had wings prepared like this and I cannot recommend them. Not sure if the order is by weight or number because one order had 10 wings and the other 8... They also charge extra for blue cheese sauce and they only take cash. When you first drive up to the place you wonder why you're going to someone's house for dinner when it's supposed to be a restaurant. Honestly, this used to be a house. Inside is somewhat small and if you're there when they're busy (which appears to be all the time) you'll struggle to find a place to sit (or even stand!). That being said they have some of the best wings I've ever eaten. You can choose between the dry rub and regular sauce. There's a few different varieties of each, but not a million which is nice. Once you decide what you want you head to the bar to order, no table service here. The appetizers are also delicious but really it's the sauces that are top notch here. You get a huge portion of wings for the price and the beer specials are fantastic as well. Make sure you have plenty of napkins and wet wipes (which they provide) because you'll need them. There's no looking glamorous here, everyone is doing the same thing as you and there's no shame. Four stars only because it is a little crowded and a little "rundown". Not rundown in the sense that you wonder why it hasn't been shut down yet, but in the sense that it's a hole in the wall bar in the middle of farmland in Wisconsin. I don't like chicken wings and these are the best chicken wings I've ever had. The dry rub is really the only way to go and either their homemade ranch or homemade blue cheese is perfect for dipping. The tots with the dry rub is the perfect appetizer with either the Mac and cheese bites or the fried mushrooms as a close second. The best part of the mushrooms is that they're slices of portabella versus entire button mushrooms that burn your face with their juices when you bite into them.
