The ahi tuna was so good, probably my favorite dish of the night. The rack of lamb was cooked really well, and the short rib was good too, just needed a more salt or something in my opinion. Still enjoyed it though. The cheesecake was divine. Panna cotta was yummy. Definitely the perfect way to end the meal. Our server was polite and let me try a couple wines before choosing, which I appreciated. We made a reservation and got seated quickly, even with it being Valentine's Day. Ambiance was dark and moody. We were the last ones out the restaurant, never felt rushed. Atmosphere was great for a date night. Bathrooms were clean, but the floor felt a little slippery. Overall, we had a great dinner and would definitely go back.

They're clearly pretty happy with themselves how they do things now. The decor is depressingly stuck in the '90's, which because of how small it is and how it's laid out could easily be fixed by updating just the barstools and artwork. Not gonna happen. The food is usually excellent, and they have a very good wine list. Prices are in line with a nice restaurant in this part of town. Just hope everything's to your liking because they have no interest in fixing it. Servers have been there forever, which can be helpful and entertaining...aaand inattentive if they don't already know you because they'd rather be talking it up with the regulars at the bar. I've been there when the service was on point and had a nice evening. I've also been there when they were too busy chatting with people they'd rather talk to to bring me what I ordered, then gave me attitude and a lecture when I asked it to be taken off the bill. The folks at Rusconi's obviously love what they do and how they do it. They seem interested in coming up with new dishes or specials to keep things fresh, and they execute them well. If you go, just know you're gonna get what you're gonna get.

Our Server Aleigha arrived with a friendly smile, took out drink order and made the experience over the top. She was friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu and genuinely a pleasure. We started off with the house made salsa and guacamole. The charred tomato salsa is crazy good. The depth of flavor was unmatched by any I've ever eaten. The guacamole was vibrant and very flavorful. For our entree we had the carne asada steak tacos, the chopped grilled chicken salad and the chipotle chicken rigatoni. Most definitely going to be regular guests going forward.

We got the fries as an app this time around and the goat cheese dipping sauce was super runny - it barely stayed on the fry. I also got the steak salad which is a more expensive menu item and it had basically no toppings! Like why is this $30 but is missing the majority of the ingredients that give it flavor? Also the drinks are fine but nothing that will knock your socks off. For a relatively decent menu on paper, I wish the food tasted better. I will say that our server was awesome! And again they have the cutest restaurants to meet friends and hang out at across the valley, just don't expect great food

The restaurant is attached to The Gamer's Guild game store, so we had fun shopping there first. The store has a huge selection of every game imaginable plus dozens of tables, free to play. They have an optional membership fee, which gets you discounts at various levels. We then traipsed over to the restaurant area for lunch/dinner. My daughter has celiac disease and the establishment was very sensitive to food allergies. They also supported neuro-diversity, which was great for my grandson. They also had several TV's going, kids menu games and a game library for free. My daughter got a Twisted Turkey Club, my granddaughter got kids Chicken Fingers and I got a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. All the orders came with fries. My grandson didn't eat. My daughter raved about her gluten free meal and my granddaughter just put her head down and plowed through her lunch. My sandwich was pretty good. I got the step-child of chicken pieces: it was pretty small. It still tasted fine and the regular fries were killer. The side sauces were legit as well. I recommend the bleu cheese and Gil's Buffalo sauce. We will visit again soon.

Located on Cave Creek Road, I had passed by this bar several times and was excited to finally try it out. While I parked across the street at the venue where I was for my event prior, I did notice that they had a decent amount of free parking available. Ambiance (4/5): Cactus Tavern is a dive bar with some Arizona flair. Given the name of the bar, I expected some cactus decor. It did not disappoint...including square lights with cactus cut-outs above each table. There are several high top tables as well as seating at the bar. It's not a huge bar, probably fits 50 people or so, and it was about 90% at capacity when I was there. They also have one pool table. Seems like the type of place where regulars come, which is always a plus in my book. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a great job taking care of us despite being quite busy. She was friendly, efficient, and made some recommendations when I asked for some. Pro tip: they give you a cash discount, so if you'd like to save a little bit, make sure you bring cash. Drinks (4/5): With it being a dive bar, the options are going to be on a simpler side. They had eight or so beers on tap, so not a large selection, but I ended up going with a WOW Wheat. A few local beers, plus some usual suspects like Coors Light, Dos Equis, Modelo, etc. While the selection didn't blow my socks off, the prices are reasonable. That counts for a lot. Food (4.5/5): According to Yelp, Cactus Tavern is known for their quesabirria tacos. Since quesabirria is one of my favorite Mexican foods, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't. You get three quesabirria tacos (birria meat, cilantro, cheese, and onions), fresh off the griddle, served with a green salsa and consommé. These were hands down some of the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were served right off the grill, the meat was flavorful, and the oozy cheese was delicious. With a side of elote (on the cob), it made for the perfect meal. This is not your typical bar food, y'all. It's a notch or two above. I was pleasantly surprised. And like the drinks, the food prices are affordable too. Pro tip #2: if you're looking for deals beyond the cash discount, they have daily discounts on various items including a burger and a pint, Philly cheesesteak, etc. depending on the day.
