We been going to The Legacy for years and today was the first time we been disappointed. I hate writing this but I want others to be cautious. I got the Lake Erie perch which we all have had numerous time but today the fish was FULL of bones. And I mean every bite from every filet had some tiny and some not so tiny bones. I never experienced this anywhere I have ever eaten perch before. Of course I told our waiter and it gets better... he told me fish have bones and that they are eatable! Yep couldn't believe it so in addition to not be able to eat my $26 fish dinner, I get a condescending response to put on my big boy pants and just swallow the fish bones because it comes with their fish dinner and deal with it. They brought me 2 new filets yep the same ... fish bones. Must be a new vendor or kitchen staff that doesn't know how to clean fish. Got a free desert but no eatable dinner. read more

Atmosphere - The restaurant has a large bar and a bunch of four tops. One side is floor to ceiling glass that looks out to an outdoor patio dining area. The restaurant has a club feel to is and the bar patrons are loud enough that conversations are difficult. Service - Decent. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - Decent. The menu is pretty limited, but there are a few specials as an addition. I ordered the braised veal only to learn shortly after that they were out of it. It drives me crazy when this happens. First of all, with so few items on the menu how difficult should it be to maintain a reasonable inventory? It was roughly 5:30 pm when we ordered on a Tuesday! There is no excuse for this. Secondly, any decently managed restaurant would ensure that the servers are made aware of any items on the menu that cannot be filled! I then selected the pork and stuffing special. The pork was tender and flavorful.I liked the stuffing as well, but for some people the chorizo sausage included in the stuffing may be a little too spicy. Overall Value - average. The prices were not cheap, the restaurant loud and menu limited. I have no interest in returning. Advice - the restaurant was offering a limited selection martinis for $6. I ordered a dry vodka martini and my wife ordered a chocolate martini. My martini was so bad I returned it. My wife was served a white chocolate (they were out of regular chocolate! This was my first visit to Legacy. I met several women friends for lunch. It is a beautiful dining room, that overlooks the golf course. Their menu has a nice variety of salads, sandwiches and entrees. I had the Rueben and chose a salad instead of fries. I have eaten a lot of Ruebens and this was one of the best. Our waitress, Linda was nice and very attentive. I will definitely make a return visit. read more

We came as a party of 6 and were quickly seated. We all decided to enjoy a happy hour martini. $6 sounded like a good deal, but when they came, we realized you get what you pay for. They were small, not good vodka, and weren't cold. The atmosphere inside is nice and overlooks the golf course. The menu has everything from salads to sandwiches to entrees. I chose the turkey pretzel sandwich, which was turkey, cheese, tomato and a honey mustard sauce on a pretzel bun. The sandwich was served hot and was very good. It came with fries which were hot and good as well. Everyone was pleased with their meals and service was excellent. We all had dessert and the sorbet was good and the creme brûlée was larger than normal. Overall, excellent service, good food and decent prices. read more

Our good friends took us for a nice early dinner here at Legacy, where the trees were beautifully covered in snow and this picturesque golf course had a wonderful view. We started off with some tasty beverages - the blood Orange Moscow mule was a big winner. Winner winner chicken dinner, which is actually what I ended up ordering. The gents had Manhattans which were poured strong but with just the right amount of cherry juice and topped with Luxardos. We started with the Fried Brussels Sprouts which had a sweet chili sauce on top that was absolutely delicious. The Sprouts themselves were cooked to perfection, still soft but also crunchy, which is critical. The bread was soft and plump but very chewy with a super nice butter spread that complimented it perfectly! For our entrees, we all picked something different. I had the Chicken Gruyere which had gruyere, bacon and onion on top of basmati race and served with MORE Brussels sprouts! The cheese sauce was divine and chicken cooked perfectly. The rest of the group had Surf N Turf, Chicken Picatta & Shrimp Scampi. See the pics for the turn out. Everyone was impressed with their meals and it was radio silent for the first three or four bites lol. Dessert of course couldn't be passed up and we selected strawberry cheesecake and creme brûlée which had the perfect crunchy texture as it should. The cheesecake was rich and stacked adorably, with a nice drizzle on the plate. Ugh. So good!!! I hope to be invited back by George soon! read more

Service was very good especially the bartender. However, the food that I ordered basically sucked. It was a seafood grill mix with risotto. Little or no taste plain bland rotten. Generally, when I have a seafood that is grilled, there's some sort of sauce that goes with it such as lemon butter or something. The fish was dry as a bone not worth eating. I guess I actually expected it to be cut off in some sort of a bowl with the sauce and the risotto. I have had some good meals there, but this one was not so good. read more

I have been a continuous customer for business lunches at this hidden jewel in Sweetbriar Country Club. I continue to have excellent meals with great portions, spot on service, a great view of the course,...My clients or customers and fellow co-workers always seem to walk out happy and satisfied with their meal. Never pass up their soup as a starter. They sometimes may seem eclectic, but they are always hearty, hot, and flavorful. Today, my party had a gorgeous scallop salad and the perch sandwich dinner. The food was delicious, service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful resturant. A very good menu and some comfort type entrees for the winter. The food is excellent. They even have small plates meals. It is one of our favorite places to dine. There is something for everyone. You can't go wrong eating at the Legacy. read more

Completely disappointed. - recommended by a few friends - arrived on a Sunday evening around 7:30 Main dining room had a beautiful view of the golf course - small crowd a 12 top on the left side of the windows and a two top on the right with a waitress, an employee sitting at the prime seats at the bar cleaning a cpl of boxes of glassware. He asked if we wanted dinner and if we preferred sitting here in the main room or next store in the smaller room. He said the bartender in the other room would take care of us if we preferred to eat here in the main room. We took a look at the other more casual room Bartender asked if we would like to eat there. We decided to eat in the main room. Asked if she was going to take care of us she said no that a wait person in the main room would take care of us. After at least 10 minutes no one talked to us. The wait person at the two top who was still talking to the customers, she never turned around or checked on the 12 top. The employee sitting at the bar cleaning glasses never said a word as there was one bar stool between us. Finally as I was about to say something to him about service he called over a bus boy. I thought he was telling him to get someone to serve us. Five minutes later we realized that was not the case. I asked for a manager. Before long the bartender from the other room walked up to us and asked what we needed. By this time we decided this was defininetly not the place to eat that evening. There were two occupied tables in the dinning room with two employees a bus boy and a bartender in the next room who could see us at the bar. The main point is that not one person paid any attention, no one was really interested in serving or paying attention to us, or obviously cared. Not sure if this should fall on the the staff or on the management. Bottom line no one paid any attention and no one cared. In you have been here before you know that we were sitting dead center in the middle of the room. read more

We had the most pleasant experience and were greeted with the best care and efficiency we could have asked for. We highly recommend this facility and know you will receive the best care they offer. Not sure why this place stays open after golf season? Staff never smiles which makes me uncomfortable. For the prices they charge you would think service would be more upscale. Had to ask for more water twice? And how can you bring the dessert tray or check to the table when we still have dirty plates and empty glass around us, not good service. Had the Salmon which was small and dry and the side dishes lacked any creativity. Heard the Prime rib was good, don't know where they eat it at, because it was fatty, dry and tough, like it was 3 days old? Maybe they should just stick to the golf. Wonderful service and delicious food! I made reservations for my grandmother's birthday dinner for a Saturday evening. They were so accommodating and really put a lot of thought into making our dinner perfect. Gail was especially great and made sure that we had a lovely view and a semi-private location for our party of 20. Kelly was our server and she was warm, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable - even giving me candles for the cake! I can't wait to go back again! read more

We went for a birthday party and had a horrible experience. Our food was awesome but we had an issue with our bill. We asked to speak to a manager, he was the rudest most disrespectful person I've ever dealt with. The managers name is Joe and we will never come back while he is there. Was there today for a quick bite. I had the Reuben. Just the right amount of corned beef, sauerkraut, sauce on great bread. Included fries and only $9. Hard to beat that at a sit down place with quality service. All staff was friendly. This is a must try place. Very friendly staff but the food was mediocre at best. More or less insipid 1980s catering fare. At the prices charged, that's unacceptable. As an example, the lamb chops were tough and with a "demi glacé" that tasted like canned brown gravy. The vegetables were what I could make from the supermarket in the microwave. The potato pancakes were tasteless mush with no texture or crispness. The bread before dinner was too garlicky and otherwise unremarkable. A disappointment. read more

The review is simple- the women/family that runs this place does so as a hobby rather than trying to run this restaurant as a legitimate business. The food is mediocre, the level of disappointment increases as you move up in price point on the menu. My advice- don't order anything on the menu over $20. Service is mediocre, at best. I've eaten there 50x and the poorly trained teeny boppers seem to miss the basics- greetings, refilling drinks, reading your table, etc. I golf a ton so it's just too easy to belly up to the restaurant for a beer and a bite. It's sad because they have made interior improvements and the patio/outside has the makings of being a quality place to visit.
