When I lived in North Carolina (a lifetime ago) the supermarkets were all different than back home in Jersey, but Winn-Dixie was always our go-to place. When Wifey and I were down here on vacation it was a no brainer to simply stop at this Winn-Dixie for a few items we needed. The layout of this store made things a little difficult to find, but that's because it's not "MY" supermarket. Prices were fair, service was fine, and the place seemed pretty clean. This was our go to place for years. However we will not be back. The quality control is terrible. We find moldy vegetables and old produce all the time. Today after being off the island for some time we had to do a large shop since we needed a lot of stuff. When we go to check out there are no check out lanes open. Zero, we had a lot of produce and wine and lose items. We asked the girl at self checkout if there were any lanes open. Self checkout only. Well that is a pain in the ass when you have a large large cart that is full. This added a lot of time to a long day including self bagging and having to enter produce and have our age verification to buy wine. Empty shelves moldy vegetables and only self Checkout. This is my favorite Winn-Dixie of all time. First let me give a shout out to our cashier Diane who was super friendly and when I said I didn't have a rewards card because I'm an out of towner, she scanned her store card so we could get the deals/sales. That was very nice of her. Note: I am not usually a big Winn-Dixie fan. I usually go to Publix, and I did go to Publix first when I visited Marco. Then I decided to get wild and try the Winn-Dixie. It was so much cleaner and more spacious than Publix (no offense M.I. Publix) and has a great selection of organic/health food type stuff that we like. A large clean grocery store in Northern Marco Island. Biggest problem was shelves were often bare. Maybe due to it being a Sunday.

Attractive, clean, organized store. My family and I went in grocery store and the Liquor store. Went in liquor store and bought $72 in products. Got home and credit card was charged $172. Went back next day and explained to store, got the money back, He said they have an HR problem and would take care of it. Another visit to their Pharmacy. Complete lack of friendliness or gratitude. 2 very unhappy ladies working there. I felt they were suspicious of me in buying Sudafed. No greeting, no smile, no thank-you. At least 3 of the staff here should find another job that they genuinely enjoy and honestly want to serve people. read more

I shopped here several times during my trip and found the store to be bigger than the Publix and easier to get around in. Surprisingly the Winn-Dixie also had a shortage of Milo's tea but that's no big deal. Basically the store had what I was looking for and it was convenient with a friendly helpful staff. read more

There were surprisingly many grocery stores on the island, maybe because of the many tourists that flock to the area. I can't say that we came here for any other reason than it was the first one we ran across when looking for a place to purchase some grub for the beach. Exceptionally clean, with friendly service we came back on the second day to get extras. Aside from the fruit and pre-made sub for the beach, we purchased a roasted chicken and salads for later. The restaurants in the area are staggeringly expensive and for a family of 3 for a few days it can get expensive, so this is a great idea. read more

I basically grew up at Winn-Dixie. My mom worked here forever. Cashier, customer service, seafood manager, deli manager... everything. I even worked as a bagger when I was 14 and innocent. Lunch breaks were awesome since McDonald's is across the street. Very clean store. I usually stop by when on the island because the meat department guys are family friends. Everything is laid out nicely too. Having visited other Winn-Dixie stores, this one stands out. A lot of the "snowbirds" prefer Publix, but you can get some great deals if you shop at both and grab the buy one, get one sales. BOGOs rock! Very friendly staff as well. The cashiers go above and beyond. One night I was running behind, I think I was trying to grab some beer before they closed. But the cashier waited and even came out with me to a local bar afterwards. Keep in mind, she wasn't getting paid salary but just a great employee going the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, her boyfriend was out of town at the time so I, being a gentleman, agreed to give her a ride home. The pool was warm and bed was comfortable. No other grocery store offers B'n'B like Winn-Dixie. -1* because 10 months later she sent a photo of her newborn to my mother, her former co-worker, and frankly, that's unprofessional. read more

Been going to Winn Dixie for many years and always been great until today. Went to order sandwiches from deli around 11:00 am and was told we don't make sandwiches and pick from premade in case. For the last 2 months they have made them for me. I talked to manager Stephen and he was very unprofessional on the way he handled it. I presented it a very calm way and also let him know it was an isolated issue. He needs to act more professionally and didn't. read more

Turkey breast lunchmeat purchased at Marco Island Winn-Dixie had a pink streak on all slices. It is either undercooked or spoiled. Called customer service and was told I would need to return the meat for credit. Not worth the gas cost and my driving time for the $5.18 refund. I'll shop elsewhere! read more

I really enjoyed their assortment of items I typically don't find at my local grocery store. I thought the store was very clean, and I was pleased that they had BOGO sales, however, I was VERY disappointed to find out if a deal said 2/$5, you had to buy 2, or you were gauged on price. BEWARE!!! You'll need to bathe in Purell after leaving this Winn Dixie. On the outside, it looks nice, new and clean. Once you walk through the doors, you are greeted with a large array of produce. I happily walked over to the berries and quickly knew I wouldn't be purchasing ANY food from this place. The strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, lemons were COVERED in mold. And I'm not being dramatic. There was mold COMPLETELY consuming the fruits. I was in shock that no one of the employees noticed this mess. It was clear as day. And it was also around 4 in the afternoon so it's not like they just opened and just hadn't noticed it yet. Attempting to wave someone down, I found one woman, looking like she was on her way out. My husband flagged her down and she loooked at us and kept on walking. We were under the impression that maybe she was done for the day or going to lunch but she waltzed right back in less than a minute later and walked right passed us. Finally a younger employee walked by and I asked her if she worked there. She replied smugly as if I was inconveniencing her. I advised she take a look at this produce and she said "oh wow. I'll tell someone" and walked away. We watched as a man came over and inspected the berries (by the outside of the container) placing the bad ones in a box even though there was most likely mold covered ones that weren't visible. Okay, now that that is taken care of.... we decided to check out the rest of the store. We noticed the veggies were all wilted and wrinkled as if they've been sitting out for weeks. The zuccinni and bell peppers were wrinkled, the apples were so soft you could stick your finger in them and leave an impression and the mushrooms were soggy. We walked around to the meat/fish section and instantly got salmonella. The meats were discolored and looked dried out. The chicken was something I can't even explain. It looked matte with a slimey coat over top, the coloring was translucent brown color. The "salmon" looked mushy and was an off white color. Once we saw that, we knew we could not be purchasing ANYTHING from this establishment. If they're "fresh" foods are this bad, who knows what everything else will be like. After less than 10 minutes, we were walking right back out those doors empty handed. PLEASE don't buy your food here.. you may end up in the hospital. BEWARE!!! read more

It's a grocery store... I can't believe I'm reviewing it. But I have a long-undiagnosed case of OCD, and it's in my feed for "needing review," so I have to do it. Why no 5-stars like these other huge, Winn-Dixie groupies?? Two reasons: 1) They were out of Helavagood French Onion Dip... and you just can't do that to me. 2) When I asked them where the closest other grocery store was where I could get some, they replied, "It's miles away - you have to go to Naples." In reality, I could've walked to the Publix down the street. I had to make a trip to Publix b/c of you, Winn-Dixie. But I got my Heluvagood... yeah, you can't keep me from it. read more

I am hear on a regular basis and this review is specifically for the Deli... I love this Winn-Dixie but the Deli section is TERRIBLE! Every time I approach the Deli I prepare my mental state for the most unfriendly customer service experience and disappointment. I usually go to PUBLIX for the deli shopping (yes I have to go to two grocery stores in one outing!) I am just fed up and today broke the camel's back - IN THE DELI... You will almost NEVER get greeted with a smile or a welcoming gesture. You may have to WAIT 5 minutes for someone to approach you even though the people in the deli and bakery have had eye contact with you. Don't even think about tasting a deli slice. They wont offer and gosh forbid you ask. Ask for a half a pound? - get anything within $2 worth equivalent. They don't care if they are over or under. DONT wait for a thank you. Nice grocery store that looked and smelled clean. Good selection of fresh produce. I appreciated the selection of bread where I could buy a half loaf. The deli personnel was friendly and helpful, offering a taste of prepared salads to help with my selection. Several items were on sale or buy 1, get 1, which I was glad to see. Clerk at checkout scanned the store savers card for me since I was from out of town and didn't have my own. Next time I visit the area, I will return to this store. read more

This location is one of the better stores in Florida. Selection, cleanliness and prices are good. What they lack is a focus on customer service. WD traditionally has never focused on customer service and relied on its low prices and extensive selection of Thrifty Made branded items as one of their draws. Service is not bad here but you cannot compare it to Publix! They do stock some items you cannot get at Publix and the store is usually less crowded making it a more pleasurable shopping experience, just fo mot ask for help as it may not come and if it does it may come with attitude. read more

I like this Winn Dixie, but today I loss all interest . I do not live on Marco. Went to get their chuck roasts on sale today. 3 scraps on the shelf that were so tiny, no more. So I asked the tall meat mgr., if he had anymore, and if so some bigger roasts. I was totally forgotten about and waited and waited. After 15 min., I inquire at the meat counter. Five minutes later the butcher came tearing out on the floor, and put 3roasts on the shelf. With a limit of two, I wasn't able to get enough roast for my family dinner on Sunday. How sad! One roast was tiny...2 lbs. When I thanked the butcher initially for his help he just walked on by. I will not shop at Winn Dixie in GoldenGate . No wonder why Winn Dixie is in financial difficulty. read more

Avoid the pharmacy at all costs. Pharmacists here don't know what they are doing. Refuse out of state prescriptions. Do they know most people are from out of state. Then they are rude about it. Go to cvs when you are on the island. read more

This is the only Winn-Dixie I have ever liked. They have really good sales on wine, a large selection of fresh fruits and veggies and even an area dedicated to Gluten-free products (which is awesome because I am gluten-free and finding foods can be really difficult). I'm not particularly fond of the set up of the store, with the aisles that completely change halfway down them, but everything else is good about this store. read more

I love this store but it could be pricier than Publix. I like the way it's set up & it flows easier than Publix. Because we vacation here almost every year, we have to get basic groceries for the condo we stay at. Every staff member in here is super nice. The selections are great. Deli is good and reasonable. We will be back next year!
