I have lots of memories with this place. It was my go-to grocery store for 5 years when I lived in NOLA. It has a large variety of products. I was always wondering why there were people sitting on a curb and eating - it is uncomfortable. Well, this time it was me. You can get food in the store, but you can't comfortably sit and eat your meal. It would be nice if they had a couple of tables outside or inside of the store. read more

For the most part, this is my favorite Winn Dixie in the city because of its location to my house. It seems small and a bit lacking in the contents, but the people who work there are always amazing and helpful. Much like the other Winn Dixies, they're more affordable and have better coupons than the Rouse's up the street. The parking here is plentiful, and the store is always clean. They usually have whatever I'm looking for, except their area with baking supplies are spread out in an odd manner and I find myself spanning three aisles to find all of my baking ingredients, which just seems really odd. Over all, it's a solid store and the price is typically right. Is it the best WD ever? No. Do you get what you need? Probably so. Overall, a good experience. read more

this may seem odd, but this is the only place in town where I can purchase low fat (1%) cottage cheese that is of a creamy consistency vs too watery. The brand name is SE Grocers. Also my Wife loves Snyder's pretzels, but only those shaped like rods. This is the only store where we seem to be able to find them in this shape. Used to be an OK place to shop, but absolutely horrible experience most recently. Prices were totally unreal; for example, charged $6.99 for Hillshire Farm smoked sausage when Rouse's down the street charged $4.49 (not on sale) the exact same day. Also, they do not honor posted prices - Coke products were supposed to be 4 six packs for $11 with no indication at all that you had to buy 4 (so should have been $2.75 each) but I was actually charged $6.99 each. Would have gone to the service desk to demand a refund but there were at least 5 people in line, so would likely have taken an hour. I won't even mention that 2 of 7 checkout lanes were open and the line to check out was nearly half an hour. Never again. read more

A rather unimpressive grocery store in a somewhat dilapidated shopping center. It didn't have as many vegetables as I wanted, and some of the other niche items I've found elsewhere, notably my favorite red beans and rice mix, were absent. I usually love Winn Dixie but I feel that ever since the summer season, the service has gone from friendly and efficient to apathetic and careless. For this location especially, I've had to start reading my receipt in the parking lot. Just tonight, I purchased a book of stamps, was charged for it, made it all the way home and realized it was never given to me. Although the drive isn't far, I was really annoyed when I had to go back to the store after 9 pm when I had to get up for work the next morning, all because I needed to put a stamp on an urgent piece of mail. The manager has been great for the past three times I've gone back to get my problems resolved - once for the stamps, once for getting an expensive item rung up twice, and once for not having any of my Winn Dixie in store coupons put towards my total (all those buy one get one free deals really hit me in the wallet when they weren't applied toward my total). Prior to the summer, I never even needed to go to customer service. I don't know what is different, but something needs to change. read more

Seems to be a lot of people preferring other Winn Dixie's over the other, I have my doubts that they're much different. I don't understand why the Winn Dixie in MidCity gets slammed, but this Winn Dixie is beloved. This one is just the pits! It's a dark cave of a grocery store that makes me feel claustrophobic. The stock isn't as deep as the MidCity location, nor is it as clean. The staff is...well, I couldn't ever find someone wearing the official red polo until I got to the check-out area. The folks at the MidCity actually know me, which is handy. I mean, okay, yes, I can find everything I want (most of the time) at this Winn Dixie, but the layout isn't as intuitive as the MidCity location. In fact, the "half aisles" situation on half the store does not make a lot of sense. I'll shop here if I must, but I much prefer going to MidCity. When the two locations are equidistant from my house, I'll choose to shop like a MidCitizen every time. Accessibility notes: sliding doors. Riding carts available. Some items are shelved very high. No Braille signage. Lighting is dim. Can get loud at peak hours. High counters at the deli and meat counters. High check-out belts/lanes. read more

This place jams, because... A) The employees are all amazingly friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to my girl CANDY. She is so f'ing sweet and while ringing you up will tell you to go back and exchange some product for another one that's on sale, or tell you about sales that you might have missed so that you can get the best deal. B) They always have great sales. C) Winn-Dixie card. Gets me almost $1 off gas each time I fill my tank. D) Good wine selection, great tea selection, pretty good cheese selection, and carrying more and more vegetarian/vegan-friendly items. At great prices. E) Amazing parking, and open til midnight. I usually only end up here after all the other groceries are closed as this is a bit of a longer trip from my house than most of the other markets. This is a nice sized store and they have a good selection of items but don't seem to have as many local products as Rouse's. They have a nice booze, wine and beer selection. They're also big on using your Winn Dixie card and you can save some money if you get one and remember to use it. They have later hours than any other grocery in the area so that really gives them convenience points. I do appreciate their later hours but I still miss the 24 hour grocery shopping we had in the area before Katrina. Honestly when it comes to my main grocery list, Rouse's is my go to place. That being said, the one thing I dislike about Rouse's is that sham they call a bakery. It's terrible! No in house bagels, no specialty bread that looks like it was made fresh, and their house baguettes are criminally horrible. Many of their in house breads that I have tried are so dense it's like eating a sponge. Honestly, most bread is not suppose to be like that, some specialty varieties, maybe, but not across the board. I worked at a bakery that respected ingredients for a decent amount of time and during that time I came to hate then understand and then ultimately love all that goes into making good bread. It really is art, no one thinks about bread or gives it enough limelight but ask anyone who has made bread from scratch. One last thing, maybe it was an omen, maybe it was a the revenge of a disgruntled employee, but last time I was at Rouse's poking around the bakery I was looking at the bags of what they purport to be pistolettes. I picked up a bag and the sticker was stuck to another bag and the plastic wrap is really thin so it just ripped from the weight of being attached to the other bag by the sticker. Let me just tell you, rolls were rolling everywhere. The whole reason I wrote this review was because I enjoy Winn-Dixie's bakery in a 'just going to the grocery store' context, their in house bagels are outrageous and overall they are better than Rouse's bakery. Somewhere between Walmart and Whole Foods lie every other grocery store. I've had good experiences at this Winn Dixie.The cashiers are polite, and there is hardly ever much of a line. The people at the liquor counter don't necessarily know much about the product, but maybe if they knew it too well, they'd be less efficient? ;) Any time I've browsed the deli section or fish counter, there was someone there to ask if they might help me. They carry my favorite zero cal carbonated orange mango drink. When on sale, small cans of cat food and bags of kitty litter are lower priced than Walmart, and even regularly priced, they're just as low. Unfortunately, they don't carry the large cans of cat food. I like the olive bar. The marinated cherry peppers are very good. The Community coffee whole beans are lower priced than at Walmart. If I'm stocking up on staples, I'm going to bite the bullet and go to Walmart, but if I just need a few things, or I have to go to the bank that day also (my bank is right across the street), I'll happily go to Winn Dixie. read more

I wasn't sure if I should be glad that there was security outside and inside the place or not but I'd never seen that before. There's a sensor system on the shopping carts that prevents you from taking them out of the parking lot; again, I just moved to this area and had never seen that before either. But it's cool, I felt like my person/car were safe in the parking lot because of the security and I had no intention of taking home a shopping cart (until I saw that sign...now it's all I think about). It's a smaller grocery store but it has all the staples. And an AMAZING wine and beer selection. The night I went they were having rum tastings. RUM!!!! Since it is smaller the aisles are really narrow and it can be tight getting two shopping carts past each other but that's not a big deal. The prices are competitive and the Winn Dixie card is a steal if you use Shell gas! After only one trip I saved $0.15/gallon! The employees are very friendly. Cons: as with everything else in New Orleans, no one is in a big hurry to do anything so a trip can take longer than expected. The liquor is at the FRONT of the store, at the service counter, so if you want liquor you have to check out and then go there and buy your liquor separately. The liquor selection was just meh but they had the basics. read more

Sometimes they are slacking on the stock, but at the end of the day they still have amazing sales. Moving to NOLA from Orlando I had to make the switch from Walmart to Winn Dixie for all of my grocery needs. I thought it was going to be more of a difficult transition process but I got along just fine lol. As it turns out Winn Dixie actually has some amazing sales and deals. Sometimes buy 2 get 3 free. I didnt know that type of thing existed. They also have two T-bones from 30 dollars to 15 dollars if you use your Winn Dixie rewards card. Now that is a deal. The store unlike others I have been to is very clean and you do not feel like you are shopping in a warehouse. You never have to search for a shopping cart and the lines for checkout are never more than one or two people. The pharmacy staff is very friendly and always take the time to make sure you understand your prescription and how to take it. read more

This store has been steadily going downhill. Making the shrinking selection worse is the fact that shelves aren't stocked, employees vary from indifferent to ignorant and what stock is available is covered up by excessive sale signage. We are done with this store. read more

I shop here regularly, in large part because I can generally get in and out in just a few minutes and still manage to get everything that I need. It is much less of a hassle than other grocery stores at comparable times. With the rewards card, this is a convenient location with a reasonably large selection that won't break your wallet. I used to think the service here was superior to other grocery stores, but in the past several months it seems to have taken a hit, as has their produce section. It's a noticeable enough change that it prompted me to wonder if they are under new management. Perhaps they are working out some kinks. read more

I am updating again after todays 3 start visit. It began with a store return bad bacon to the service desk. I said, "don't open it", as to save the clerk some nasal unpleasantness. She says, "Then why are you giving it to me"?.....well, it has to be replaced by the store, honey. I got the replacement and got some groceries as well. I always go to Hollygrove Market and Farm to get my produce, then I come here to round out my groceries. The dry goods are always on a fair sale. Meats and dairy products are also good. My favorite part is the bakery section. Fresh hot bread! And hot apple pies ( and the pie is one of the best I've had)! The gas discount at Shell gas is also a nice bonus (They keep track of it through their Winn Dixie Card program.) read more

Prices are just so-so... but they do have great sales! Selection is decent... they have the basics (plus they always have my favorite yogurt, as well as a nice selection of vegetarian options) Parking is great... I always get a good spot (an extra 1/2 star just for that) Some reveiewers mentioned the staff isn't very good here, but I've had only good experiences. This is one of the only "regular" grocery stores that takes my re-usable grocery bags without making faces... and the baggers pack them properly, which is also a refreshing change! read more

A-OK really sums it up. Decent prices, friendly personnel, acceptable selection...nothing to write home about, but nothing to write the mayor about either. Sales are good, PLUS love the fuel perks that get me ~30 cents/gallon off per fill! You do have to go with an open mind or else you will be disappointed--meaning, you have to just go and see what looks good/is on sale. And this is a REALLY small WD, so that limits your options as well. I think the single greatest thing about this store--and one of the things that makes me uber love this city--is the story of the first time I shopped here. I had just moved to town and it was literally the first time I had been to a WD, and to my local WD. I walk in and, as I'm shopping in the produce section, someone offers me a free sample of some new wine they just got in! I came from California and I never saw this EVER. I was in the area with a friend and he needed to pick up a few provisions. This is definitely a smaller Winn Dixie than the one by my house in Detrehan. Kind of felt like a "mini-Dixie". But for our purpose of quickly running in for a few things, it was perfect for what we needed. I did notice the selection wasn't as wide as my usual bigger store but sometimes a smaller store fits the bill. If I lived nearby and was trying to get some major shopping done t fill up the pantry, I might go elsewhere, but was perfect for a quick stop to pick up a few things. I'd give it a 3.5 but I'm feeling a little generous. read more

This is a large chain grocery store serving a lot of the south. They have a lot of southern comforts like animals peices floating in some kind of broth-like liquid. They have soda, and chips, and paper plates. They do not have things like store-made balls of dough you can grab up quickly and throw into a pizza at home. They don't even know what that means. read more

This isn't my neighborhood Winn Dixie anymore since we have moved, but I do stop in sometimes when I am over that way to shop at Stein Mart. I must say that there has been some improvement in the store's overall condition. Like maybe they have remodeled a bit. It smells better. The lady's restroom is improved somewhat. It still is not up to par with our area's other Winn Dixies, but it is not as bad as it used to be. Sounds like a country song, doesn't it? read more
