While the showroom floor area was kind of small; they do pack a lot in a small space. Also, since there is a lot of large furniture it takes up a lot of the floor. Just in case you didn't know, the surplus store appears to be all the surplus used Washington State equipment and furniture. So instead of taking a total loss on used items, you can just go buy a table or set of file cabinets or computers that may have been used somewhere in the state offices. I actually found the large tables and computer desks and small stationary very inexpensive. I thought it was priced in line with the thrift stores around the area. I found two large bookcases for $10 each and a large dining room table for $15. They had large binders for $1 and file cabinets for $5 per drawer. They have refrigerators and TVs and computers and printers. There are other items that are a little bit more pricey and maybe not in line with what I was thinking for used materials, but too each their own. They sell old state cars and large machinery as well, just in case you're looking. If you're looking for some reasonably priced older furniture or basic stuff to fill up a house or apartment until you get your "real" furniture, this place is worth a visit. Everything seems pretty sturdy so it might actually last you a long while.

Unexpected Gem Alert!…read more So picture this, I'm dragging a bit today, that late morning/early afternoon slump after doing literally everything spring related around our homestead. (And no, not a Little House on the Prairie homestead, just five minutes up the road, but with all the pollen, chirping Tweetie birds, baby critters, a 16 year old son, and my handsome, big bearded hubby of almost 30 years this September. Thank you very much. It feels like a full blown homestead!) Anyway, squirrel moment incoming!! Hubs casually says, "Wanna go to the flea market?" I'm like, what flea market?! He says one just opened up... didn't even need to finish his sentence. Honestly, babe, you had me at flea market. (Although I did pause for a second to make sure it wasn't some trick detour on the way to Home Depot or the sports store. Don't play with my emotions like that Mr. I know your tricks.) Y'all. This place is fantastic! It's just getting started but already has some seriously cool finds. Reminder, one woman's junk could be another's treasure. Super clean, friendly folks, and tons of potential to grow. Bonus points: it's right next to the German Diner and Pink Bikini Coffee Stand. Yes, you read that right. Coffee, food, AND shopping--all in the same parking lot?! My kind of trifecta. If you're a vendor, this spot has great energy and prime potential. And if you're just like me and love a good treasure hunt...run, don't walk. My teen and his crew are big into thrift finds, and this location near River Ridge couldn't be better. He scored two pairs of jeans today. I'll share pics tomorrow. We haven't even had time to snap the Montage yet! Getting a photo of a teen boy is like Pulling an unloose tooth! Just one Omgosh, we ruined their lives, and an hour later they're taking a gazillion with their Peeps?! Like Cupping my hands over my mouth shouting, Ok, I love you, make smart choices as he's running out the door. Lol Kids. ‍ I hope others can relate?! Otherwise, this is one long boring review. On a Serious Note Though. Not that kids aren't. Support your local vendors, and small businesses OVER corporations, and franchises right now! They are who need us. We need one another. Show the corrupt corporations and franchise. We don't need them. Lift your community. Things might take a little longer or cost a couple dollars more, but think about the pockets you're actually helping, and giving back to. A little kindness goes a long way. When we first walked in, all of the bling hit us right off the bat. My boyfriend and I looked over an eclectic mix of jewelry, from precious to semi-precious stones to sterling silver to designer costume pieces. There are several cabinets with small drawers labeled with more items inside. It was like treasure hunting, going through everything in the drawers. Found a watch for $15 in one of the little drawers. Also found a Betsy Johnson gold and diamond skull necklace that was to die for that my boyfriend bought for me and insisted I put on right at the register. Reagan did a beautiful job of getting down to the original oak. She worked with me to choose a stain that would go well with new cabinetry in our home. Some of the old paint deep in the cracks gives it an antiqued look, and it's most definitely an antique, now made like new in the best way. When I dropped off the rocker Reagan said she loved furniture with a story, which my rocker has (To give her a picture of the rocker I sent her a blog post I had written about it: https://biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/2023/02/the-rocker.html). She went on to add that people bring her antiques they just bought; those are going to get their own stories in the future. She clearly really loves working with furniture.
