We have won hundreds of auction items including tools, hobby (model trains, RC, airplanes, and cars, rockets, etc.) , furniture, antique dishes, slot machines and have been very happy with the quality and value of our auction purchases. The service level there is excellent, from Deb at the front desk to Jacob and Steve and the rest of the crew, it's always been a positive experience for us. Items are typically as described in the auction ad copy and good photos, which is very important for a remote bidding when you don't have the practical ability to review in person. We recently moved back to Washington state after an eight year hiatus to the Midwest and have already begun purchasing items from this auction house. We have also consigned some items there, and they did pretty well for us. They say they are the premier auction house which in itself is laughable. The only thing they care about is making as much as possible from seller and buyer. Their habit of lumping unrelated items does no favor for seller. Minimal and often inaccurate description of items. Charging 50% fee for selling is not inline with services performed. I had thought they may have improved after a few years and changing locations but I was wrong. Do yourself a favor and pass on using them. read more

They fraudulently listed a lampshade as being made by Tiffany of New York. I bid on it and won the items via an online auction and when I received the lampshade, found that it was not a Tiffany of New York lampshade. Nowhere on the lampshade did it state Tiffany of New York but was made by another company called Handel and has their stamp on it in large block letters (see photo). I had emailed Steve before the auction and he assured me it was an "authentic" Tiffany lampshade. He is now refusing to refund the amount I paid to him together with the cost of me having to ship it back to him. I will be filing a complaint with the proper authorities for fraud as I was scammed. I would advise everyone to avoid purchasing from this auctioneer as you might get ripped-off like I was. read more

Let me start by saying that I was an Army wife for 30 years, have traveled extensively, and have lived in a number of foreign countries. For more than 40 years I have avidly collected a wide range of items which greatly appeal to me, including vintage and antique stained glass windows (at last count I had 79), gorgeous large porcelain Royal Dux figures (19" to 24" high) from more than 20 trips I've made to Prague (my favorite city in the world!), genuine antique Asian furniture and collectibles (as a result of having grown up in Japan...in Tokyo, Yokohama, and the northern most island of Hokkaido, the daughter of an Army service member), and so much more. I was at a Crawford auction some months ago and up for bid was a small wooden box with dozens of intricately carved and inlaid quarter moon shapes. It was very finely made and was unquestionably made in Italy where I've traveled extensively and often bought such pieces for friends as gifts. It was being held up and the auctioneer tried to start the bidding (far above what it was worth) but to no avail. He kept lowering the starting bid but NO response. That's when the man holding the box up for all to see shouted out that it was RARE TRAMP ART, and the auctioneer added that it was a RARE ANTIQUE. What a CON they have going!! Sometimes it's when things DON'T pan out, that you truly learn about a business. I've done both online and onsite bidding with Crawford, probably 4 or 5 auctions in total. I've won lots of cool stuff I've been happy with, a few items that didn't pan out, and just recently I ended up with two antique shelves that were just plain unusable. When it comes to buying antiques some stuff just has quirks - that's expected. These shelves had more than just antique quirks - they were in need of major repair. These were major issues that weren't listed on the item description. After winning them online, the Crawford guys loaded my rental truck with my items, and I didn't notice the condition of the shelves until about 6 weeks later when I got ready to move them into the house. I contacted Crawford and let them know the situation, a couple days later the owner got back to me. Now most (if not all) places require you to return items when you are unhappy with them. That would involve me renting another moving truck and driving all the way back to Olympia (I'm in Tacoma). I told the owner this would be a pain and not really be worth it in the end. The owner of the business ended up refunding me a significant amount of money, including the auction fees. I was worried after six weeks I would be stuck with these items, which I paid a good amount for. Mr. Crawford was diligent about getting things right and making sure I was a happy customer. In the future I will definitely be previewing big ticket items in person before bidding online, it's just a smarter way to buy auction antiques. In the end - I'm glad that I learned that lesson with the Crawford team, as it could have been much worse. Sometimes you learn the most about a business when things go wrong - and Mr. Crawford made things right, which restored my faith in doing business with them and recommending their services to others. read more

Find another way to sell your items. I truly wonder if there is any seller out there that has benefited from using Crawford. We ended up with our items sold for peanuts AND having to pay for the items to be picked up and transported to their facility. In the end we paid them more than we received. I had several items auction off by this auction house, however the worst items were sold in a lump lot. I had two sets of THE BEATLES plates, I purchased each plate for $32.50 - There were a set of six and another set of eight. They sold all14 plates for $35 total. Another set of plates of ELVIS 23 plates, again they sold all 23 plates form $35. It is my opinion they do not do any research of the value of items. Another lot I had with the, included 22 BEATLES neck ties. They we included with another lot of BEATLES items. If they were smart they would have sold them as a separate lot and could have earn at least $5 per tie for a total of $110 but NO they included them in a lot that had four Art pieces that were worth $50 each, first edition of the "Yellow Submarine" book and several other BEATLES items, which sold for only $240 total. You need to think twice before asking them to auction off you stuff and you need to place reserves on items before they sell your items below fair market value. read more

I highly recommend Crawford's! One of my favorite things to do is find antiques at a fraction of their retail value. I have attended auctions in Seattle, Tacoma, and here at Crawford's. They don't do solely antiques, but also a smattering of tools, appliances, store liquidation, etc. You can view the catalogs online and preview the auctions in person. You can choose to bid online or attend the auction live. I have done both and have had great success at home when I don't want to trek to Olympia on a weeknight. Staff are wonderful. Sold me bunch of garbage in 2 blind lot's via Proxibid, half of the items arrived in pieces and the other half looked like it was found in a landfill. None of the items have any value. Lot descriptions listed watches and jewelry from estates. In fact there were around 7 watches total and glass were broken on 4 of them. read more

I have done both the online and onsite auction and have been happy with most, but not all of my purchases. Overall, I think I'm ahead and know it's my own responsibility for winning on items that I don't like because I didn't fully review them first. Impulse buys have been both a curse and a blessing. My family has also sold a few items through Crawford's and were happy with how simple it was, and I've managed to resell a couple things that I bought and then didn't want to use. This business is a scam! I have nothing to gain by posting this, I am doing it because if I didn't say anything and someone like my grandmother met up with these people I'd never forgive myself. There were two separate transactions, and both of them were grossly mishandled. I'm writing this review after waiting for months with no response from them at all. I don't enjoy admitting to strangers that I was foolishly duped, but I am doing it because I believe reading a review like this before I hired Crawford would have saved me thousands of dollars and months of added stress when after all, stress relief was ultimately what they were selling. So here's what happened: 1. We came to an agreement that for a set price they could have the full contents of my home . They were to leave the home empty except for a few specified items. Several days after Crawford was to have emptied the house, the property manager sent me photos of at least a truckload of stuff left behind. The removing of this stuff was factored into the original amount they paid me, so when I had to hire someone rent a truck and pay dump fees that all was to be covered by them in exchange for the heirlooms and collectibles they took. (I only did it myself after inviting him to come back to finish the job and receiving no response). 2. When we met to sign the agreement on the house, I gave him some jewelry to appraise and come up with an consignment agreement on. (obviously this was before I knew he was going to burn us on the original clearing out of the house agreement). Crawford sent me an email with his appraisals and said he'd be sending the listing agreement after Christmas, but by then I'm uncomfortable so I said I just wanted to pick my jewelry back up to which he tells me it is too late because he already has my jewelry in an auction without my signature or agreement. My husband headed over there the next day and to pick up what he was told was all of my jewelry, but there were key pieces missing which I never even received the percentage I should have if I'd agreed to sell. In my book that is stealing. If it started out as a misunderstanding it was not resolved that way. I have only come to regard this as a theft slowly as their response seems more bizarre with every passing day. Crawford Family Auctions has responded the way thieves would. I don't know how else to put it. I have tried for months to resolve this matter, and they have stonewalled. So, just because I have had to accept that I was duped it doesn't mean I can't try and prevent him from doing it to someone else. Just know that if you hire Steve Crawford it will be up to you to hold him to his word and look out for your own best interests which is very unfortunate especially in a business such as this where I can imagine people are often times at their most vulnerable. This worries me. Every day that this has gone unresolved made it seem that much shadier. Who wouldn't immediately apologize for something like this and turn right around and fix it? Someone who has done it before and will do it again. Don't let him do it to you. read more

I hired Crawford and was initially pleased....convenient, timely,friendly, and efficient...they even postponed my auction so COVID wouldn't affect the auction as much...BUT, everything went downhill fast and in a big way.At the pickup I was told that each item would be researched and that I would be contacted about reserve prices on specifically four items...and neither was done.I had a rare Belgian Art Deco glass bowl that I knew was worth possibly upwards of $1000 that clearly was not researched and sold for about $15...I had two fully restored and rewired large Art Deco skyscraper lights that I had $1600 into that they sold for $165, I had 3 Art Deco French Art Deco etched glass doors I had $2100 into that they sold for a couple hundred $, and I had a stunning vintage mannequin I had $300 into that they sold for $25....all in all, about 60 items, mostly nice Art Deco items, that all sold for pennies on the dollar.I could have sold every item on Craigslist and gotten ten times what Crawford ended up selling everything for...even an Art Deco iron fireplace sold for $40, worth more as scrap iron.They also were disorganized enough that after the initial auction of my inventory,random items of mine kept popping up in other auctions for another four months. It was a horrible experience and Crawford wasn't the least concerned with my complaints and issues.Crawford is essentially a clearing house for failed garage sales....if you want to unload a bunch of junk for pennies to a bunch of re-sellers to make a killing, then this is your place.if you have anything of value at all and are expecting to get any return on your investment or actual value, then definitely look somewhere else. read more

I came across Crawford Family Auctions through AuctionZip and I have nothing but praise for them! As a reseller, I was able to find AMAZING deals, and the customer service is top notch! When I picked up my items, they were packed SOOO carefully and professionally, I couldn't believe they fit everything in there! A young man named Evan & another young man (sorry, I forgot your name!) packed the truck for me...large furniture--and they were upbeat and pleasant the whole time. It was so refreshing to see them displaying such positive attitudes...smiling and joking--it just made the experience so much nicer! I also have to commend JAKE for his ability to multi-task with such great finesse! He had five or six people asking questions, looking for things, etc, and he gave each one of us his time and attention in a continuous professional manner, remaining very helpful and pleasant the entire time. Great employees here--you won't find a single sullen face or any grouchy lazy slackers! They work hard and they make your experience a very rewarding one.
