I found this donut shop via Instagram and I'm happy I found it!! Getting there might be a mission considering there's road construction. but parking is not bad. You can find it in the back. When I walked in the ladies were very friendly and welcomed me in. I didn't know what I was going to get but they were patient! The ambiance reminds me more of a cafe than a donut shop! I love it. There's about 2 tables and I did notice that they had a chalkboard with their specialities I ended up getting....hear this..... a pupusa donut!! It's shaped like a donut but the inside is like a pupusa! I got the chicharrones. They even have a jalepeno cheese one but unfortunately they were out. I also got a hazelnut iced coffee. It was good and so was the size! The lady was so friendly she gave me a few of their vegan concha's on the house!

Came here on a whim craving donuts but needing a place with vegan options and was not disappointed! The donuts are huge, they have risen too which is a plus as many places only offer vegan cake donuts mid week. Everything we tried was really soft and fresh. The apple fritter doesn't have that oiliness you may find in some places that don't fry them well, it was really well made. They even have vegan concha's and they're amazing. Probably our new favorite vegan concha. The parking wasn't too hard and the inside was big as clean. The kind lady working the register was very friendly and helpful. I noticed they even had a donut papusa which was interesting, if they ever do a vegan version maybe I'll give it a try! Come check them out.

This isn't your typical donut shop. When I first walked in I noticed their TV screen displaying their breakfast sandwhich menu which had quite a few options. On the other screen there was a video playing showing how they make their papusas. The next thing I noticed was that they have a selection of vegan donuts, some kind of cheese bread, normal donuts and a variety of croissants.i settled on a ham and cheese jalepeño croissant and a coffee. I'll definitely come back here again because the store is very clean, the staff was very attentive and friendly and the food is good.

They have the best conchas and the crazy part is they are vegan. You won't be able to tell that they are vegan. They taste better than other non-vegan conchas I've had. An order of 2 small conchas is $1.95. The best time to get them is in the morning when they are freshly made. They are so soft and chewy and not too sweet. They stay soft for about 2 days. I've also had vegan donuts and sandwiches from here. They are also very good. The donuts are soft and airy. The sandwiches are pretty pricey, but ingredients are very fresh. They also sell Cuban sweet corn cheese bread aka quesadillas, which are also very tasty. Customer service is great. Everyone is always nice and friendly. There are a few tables and chairs and it's a pretty quite ambiance. I've actually seen some people on their laptops working/studying here.

A must try. I've had both the vegan and non-vegan donuts. Everything here is fresh, even the food items. Also, the employees are so kind and provide excellent customer service. It's also extra clean and sanitized, if you want to sit and enjoy your goods. Please check them out. The apple fritter is my favorite. My daughter enjoys the pink sprinkle donut. John helped me out just recently and his hospitality will definitely have me coming back for more.

I preach this place like i was on their payroll haha, but they sell themselves. I have put on so many people to this place. So many options, lots of bottle/cans and a rotating draft menu that carries more than IPAs, nothing wrong with IPAs, i drink them but other types exist. I can always find my funky Sours on tap, and did i mention delicious fresh samiches? Dayum son! Hope nothing but good luck for them, they are a staple in Downey's DNA.

In our pursuit of great…read moresandos, we've tried Katz Deli in NYC, Brent's in Northridge and even the sorely missed but never forgotten Miller's East Coast Deli in San Francisco. So when, tasked with finding a suitable place for our quarterly lunch meeting, I entered "Jewish deli" and "Downey" into Yelp, half expecting to find the lackluster lineup of national chains that PURPORT to make good sandwiches- Subway, Joysie Mike's, Jimmy John's and the usual suspects of sandwich sorriness! Imagine then, fellow Yelpers, when Uncle Henry's Deli appeared...as welcome a sight as my gorgeous bikini-clad wifey. Both Mick and I, who first bonded over our shared love of the national pastime, immediately likened Henry's with the MLB legend who shares my birthday- Henry Louis Aaron, aka Hamnerin' Hank and the REAL all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds and his oversized gourd, er, head be damned. In his 22yr career, Aaron belied his average size (5ft 11 tall, 185 lbs) and deployed his missile-fast wrists to smack 755 homers. All while playing in Jim Crow era Atlanta. Uncle Henry's Deli, similarly, defies expectations. Who would think of putting a Jewish-style delicatessen in Downey, famous for birthing the honey-voiced Carpenters and the self-styled "Mexican Beverly Hills?!" Mick ordered a super sized Original, which is turkey, roast beef + ham plus cheddar on white. He went with potato wedges which are sizable. Me? I chose one hot, one cold. A super sized Big B (Pastrami, Bacon + Swiss on toasted sourdough, hold the pickles) and an Egg Salad on enviably well made squaw bread, hold the tomatoes. Pro Tip- From a lifetime of ordering well made sandos in every major city in America, never put tomatoes on a cold sandwich unless you want the notoriously water-dense fruit to dampen your sandwich! The only mild drawback of my food order was the side of potato salad, which in my opinion would benefit from some black pepper and minced celery. The service at Henry's is expedient- You've barely helped yourself to one of their dark wood benches when they've called your order! The restroom was, yes, as cozy as the overall venue...but sufficiently clean + stocked. Watch out, tho- The hot water runs hotter than the devil's temperature! In closing, you can take Uncle Henry's to the bank. Yes, you'll part with upwards of a Jackson, mebbe even two. But you'll enjoy the treat, cuz the caliber of food is very bit as real as the hammer (aka Louisville Slugger) that Hamnering Hank used to bash all of his home runs with.

I felt almost confused at first, like as if the restaurant wasn't even sure of its own identity. However, once I started eating the food, I understood and am extremely impressed. I had ordered the crawfish pasta, popcorn chicken (spicy), and fried baos. The pasta was cooked perfectly with chunks of crawfish and sausage in a creamy tomato-esque sauce. I usually don't care for crawfish, but it was so delicious here. The sauce was so buttery and creamy, and the sausage added a cajun spice to the dish. The components are all very seafood boil, but felt different and innovative with unique flavors. The popcorn chicken was seasoned very well and had the perfect fried, crispy texture you'd expect from popcorn chicken. What really made this unique was the sauce that it was served with. I am not sure what exactly the sauce is, but it tastes like a ginger scallion sauce that is served with Chinese boiled chicken. The sauce is a little more elevated and flavorful than a traditional ginger scallion sauce. I would've never thought to combine popcorn chicken with it, but it works! The fried baos were the most surprising to me. I was keeping my expectations low because I usually think frying something that's not normally fried doesn't always bode well. Fear not, the baos were fried perfectly. They were fried lightly while the inside kept your typical bao consistency. Also, in case you were wondering the type of bao, it is basically a steamed bao with ground pork, and I think an egg yolk inside. The flavors felt very much like traditional dim sum, yet new and fresh. Hats off to the chefs and the creators of these dishes. So innovative while still keeping the familiar Asian flavors! I ordered delivery, so this review was solely based off of the food.
