From the time that I first met Dr. Newman, to when he injected me with novacaine, his calm manner and uncanny ability to put me at ease were remarkable. I literally did not feel the injection. I've gone from gripping the arm rests on the dentist chair so tightly that my hands went numb, to actually falling asleep while he worked on my teeth. To say that Dr. Newman is the best dentist I have every visited seems understated. Being from an Air Force family, I have visited dentists all over the world, but have never come close to being as comfortable as I am in Dr. Newman's care. He's personable, funny, caring and kind. We've become friends over the years and frequently lament about the closing of Da Vinci's Pizza. The office staff are great and his office reminds me of an earlier time when personal attention the norm and patients were individuals treated with kindness, respect and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Jack Newman to anyone who suffers with their current dentist. Your experience with Dr. Newman will be completely different.

I went for a cleaning and was very anxious. The hygienist kept talking, and I told her I was not able to talk at the time. She did the cleaning, then told the dentist I was "Not a right fit", and they told me over text message I would have to find another. I apologized for having a panic attack (I was literally fighting tears during the procedure) and they refused to respond. I can't say what went wrong exactly-I was probably a bit short, but also was trying not to calm down. I had previously told them I wanted to have headphones on during the appointment and the hygienist didn't seem to be happy with that. I'm not sure if they were uncomfortable having someone of a different race, but they seemed to ascribe me to a stereotype rather than ask why I was upset or panicking.

I originally found her while searching for a dentist local to my second home. Athens is actually halfway between both homes. That works out fairly well. Her staff has always been kind and friendly to me. I am a bit anxious when it comes to my mouth, but she is no nonsense but thorough and gentle. I had been with my previous dentist for over 20 years and was hesitant to change, but after hearing so many positive things, I decided to give them a try, and I am so glad I did.
