TOTAL SCAM! This dentist was good a while back but now they've changed owners and told me my…read morecleanings were more than double because I have periodontal disease. Brushed flossed and even more to get rid of it, they said I still need it. Their dental plan they sell I purchased and STILL expensive. I gave up and found a better reviewed dentist my mother has used for years. Total they said no I have no signs of the disease and questioned why they said I have it! Athens Smiles then sends me another bill for what we already paid plus their plan renewal. Then submitted it against my credit which I'm disputing it. Will be reporting them to the BBB. Don't get scammed like I have and many in reviews below!

A call to her grandfather fixed that. Everyone on staff was rude and dismissed her honest questions. Someone reached out to apologize and schedule another appointment. When she arrived to that one, they said they had no record of the appointment they scheduled and couldn't see her that day. Don't prepay. Once they get your money, you're just a number in their ledger. And if they do actually see you, they'll try to sell more expensive services. This business has definitely not planned for their growth. Stay away if you want dental "care."

What should have been a routine dental cleaning turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. He went in expecting a basic cleaning but instead only received X-rays. No cleaning at all and was charged $148. I have NEVER in all my years of going to the dentist encountered a situation where the most basic service wasn't provided during a scheduled visit. When he asked about the cleaning, he was told there was no hygienist available and that he would need to come back for another appointment. This is completely unacceptable. Why schedule a cleaning if you don't have the staff to perform it? This felt incredibly misleading and, frankly, like a money grab. I am extremely disappointed and intend to pursue recourse for this experience. Parents of UGA students, please be aware and cautious before sending your child here.

They called several times to confirm certain details about a procedure for my child (same conversation several times) so obviously they are not updating their notes and not communicating with each other. There was terrible traffic because of that hotel construction that we had no idea about in downtown Athens so we were running late and they called us five minutes after we were scheduled, I said we were close they said OK. We arrived at 18 after and the receptionist said with a tone, "well... The doctor probably won't be able to see you because we have a 15 minute window." I said "can you check and see I'm sorry there was construction traffic we didn't know about." The receptionist said "yeah well... I already did and they're not gonna do it. We're gonna have to reschedule." I said no thanks. If we would have run from the parking lot to the receptionist desk we probably would have been there right at 15 after. So ridiculous. So I said no thanks. We will find a new dentist.

Emory is more apt to jump to a fatalistic conclusion, but Scott usually double checks his dad just to make sure. I believe Emory, the dad, is only in the office on Tuesdays, so if you have something funny going on with your teeth make sure Scott checks it out first. That's not to say these guys aren't genius doctors... because they absolutely are! They are reasonable and efficient, mindful and very careful. They are the best. I have been to a few other dentists due to my moving away from Athens, but I have learned my lesson. Even if I am living in another state, I will always come back to these dentists in Athens for all my dental needs. They are the best.
