But Austin was our fearless rafting guide and part-time therapist--who calmed nerves, cracked jokes, and got us paddling in no time. From the very first splash, Austin made us feel safe and slightly more athletic than we actually are. He coached us through the twists and turns of the creek, and somehow convinced our teens that getting absolutely drenched and paddling for their lives was the best day ever. Miracles do exist. We glided through hidden stretches of the creek like pros (or at least like enthusiastic amateurs with great lighting), hollering with joy and soaking up every second of the adventure. Even the "hold on tight!" moments felt like a ride at a theme park--but with better views and less screaming. 10/10 would paddle again. If you're looking for an unforgettable family outing full of laughter, nature, and just the right amount of "we might flip but only if you don't do what Austin says", he's your guide. He's part guide, part hype man, and all-around river legend. Bring snacks or a picnic lunch for after an early morning trip, bring sunscreen (and put it on BEFORE you get a wetsuit. We chose paint and played a laser game, sound game, placement game, and communication game. That doesn't even begin to fully explain how it works but it was a lot of fun. How well you do in each game determines how much time you get to "beat the bomb" at the end. Out of our 3 times only 1 actually beat the bomb but everyone had a great time. The area this place is in is great. A nice bakery, dog park, golf bar, and plenty of other places to hang out.

(Though if others had been there the place is large enough it would have been totally fine!) We ordered drinks, and then we were given the rundown of how it works, and were given time to choose our patterns and types of garments. Once we were all ready to screen print, the staff member (wish I knew her name, she was awesome), walked us through the whole process to ensure everyone's project came out perfectly. Then they go through the dryer and are ready to wear, or wash at home! We all proceeded to wear our shirts to our 9:15pm dinner reservation! Highly recommend as a solo activity, date night, or group event. The prices are so reasonable and it's a great time. One thing to note for open studio is that there are rotating designs already set up with ink colors, so while you can choose your garment type and color, you can't change the colors on the designs that are set out as options. But there are a lot of options to choose from!

Great to host a group event like ours. There were about 20+ designs including sleeve prints and pocket prints. We were allowed 2 designs per shirt. You can choose 2 large prints, in front, on the back, pocket or sleeves. You're the creation to your shirt. They offer t-shirts, long sleeves, tank tops, sweaters, even shorts! Screen printing isn't the only thing they're known for, but they served some good drinks and mocktails also. All the staff were attentive and very helpful with a bunch of veterans. It was a great few hours to take your mind off your daily grinds.

Rafting::: Had an…read moreabsolute blast with Luke on our half-day gorge extravaganza! ‍ Starting with safety first, Luke quickly realized we were ready for not just a family adventure, but the paddle of a lifetime! From history lessons to hilarious jokes and endless encouragement, Luke felt like just one more member of our crazy family! Even the ride in the van was a hoot, thanks to Josie! He made going over the safety rules checklist fun and easy to remember. Also, Hank, Henry, or was it Harry? Who knows! But the photographer captured all our fun and chaos along the way. This adventure is definitely saved to the top of my list for my next trip out! Zipline::: 1-2-3, ready, zip! Today's afternoon adventure was packed with excitement, featuring hikes with no cactus grabs, Bob's wonderful splits, and Zoe's tree touches, all with a side of zipping through Mongoose Valley! If it weren't for Gabe, we wouldn't have any evidence of our epic adventure! This is a fantastic first-time course, complete with a practice round before you tackle the real deal. And get your bets ready because you'll have the chance to battle it out on the zip line with a person of your choosing. May the odds be ever in your favor! What else can I say but just do it! Take the leap off a wooden stand, soak in the stunning views of the gorge and valley, and enjoy the camaraderie of the zip-on!
