would like to first say how happy I am as a parent to see these events occur and make wonderful memories.
I've attended many of these volleyball events around our country for several years and each one was very magical and fun for both children and parents.
But I hate to admit this event that occurred on 1/14/24 at your facility was one of the most embarrassing and disgusting venues I have ever attended.
On the date above I respond to see my child play in this volleyball tournament along with the parents of many others. During one of match's being played by our children, which was about to end, I observed a bolding white male, between the ages of 60-70, approach a parent in the stands.
He stated he wanted to inform her that folding chairs were not aloud in the area. She agreed to place the chair up but requested if she could just wait 2-3 minutes just to let the game end so not to miss her child play the last few points.
The male (later identified as only George, who works for the county) stated he will not leave until the chair was removed and placed outside the sport complex. The poor parent got up and sat on the bleachers with the chair has George stood around until he observed her leave with the chair. George was then told by the other parents in the stands to leave her alone.
George then walked over to the other side and stated he was in-charge and wasn't going to be told what to do. George then grabbed a pair of glasses off the floor and began standing in front of the parents that told him to move out of the way, pretending to act as if he was trying to find the owners of the glasses. George did this in spite (showing vengeful behavior). I then walked over to him and stated "just leave, you're interrupting the game". He then followed me to my seat and began showing off the same pair of glasses in front of the people I was sitting with. George the continuing to antagonize us with this disgusting behavior, making believe he was try to find the owners to the glasses. I feel that his actions were malicious and intentional.
Other parents continued to say he needed to leave but George would remain in front of the bleachers. George then grabbed someone's coffee cup and began asking if it belonged to anyone, Continuing to interrupt the players that were behind him playing. I then witnessed George stating to a parent I hope your child doesn't grow up to be nasty like you.
At this point, I could not watch this behavior go on and asked for his name. George only stated his first name And was in charge of this event. I told him I wanted to file a complaint and wanted to know who his boss was? George stated "I am the boss and there's no one for you to complain to, and If you don't like it you could leave".
I then took my complaint to the front office. At the front office I came in contact with Alyssa. I told Alyssa on what occurred and wanted to file a complaint. Alyssa stated That George works for the county and is in charge of the facility, but not the event itself. She went on to mention that he should have not been talking to parents and she wanted to apologize for his behavior. I requested that Alyssa see the recording surveillance footage of the incident and observe George's demeanor during the game to justify my complaint.
Alyssa said it will not be necessary because he will no longer speak to any more parents or come into the facility.
Alyssa was right and I did not see George for the rest of the tournament but it wasn't until we were leaving that I observed him standing at the front doors. George wasn't alone at the front doors as I observed him standing with a tall white male with a county shirt on. Alyssa was also there next to George. George then looked in my direction, smirk at me and waved at me. George then said I hope you have a good night. George action by waving at me was clearly made in a sarcastic manner. it was clear that George was being facetious and wanted to get under my skin.
I'm writing this letter on behalf of many parents because they felt intimidated and didn't know what to do. I would like to return to this venue again next year and hope to see it filled with a better staff.
Due to this experience, I feel that many parents and children were robbed of their amazing day. read more
