One of them never called me back, but Doug from Testudo returned my call promptly. He talked me through the types of tests they offer and made a suggestion based on my description of my home. He didn't try to upsell me on getting the most expensive testing -- in fact, he discouraged me from it, recommending a cheaper option that would still give me good information. He had appointments available within a week, so I was able to have the testing done quickly. During the testing process, Doug took the time to explain a lot of useful information and patiently answered any questions I had. He emailed me a report with the test results promptly, and he answered an additional question by email. Everything about the experience was smooth and professional. Highly recommended.

One important quality is that they weren't creating any false sense of urgency. Radon isn't great for health and absolutely should be addressed, but it also wasn't a threat to my health. The installer was professional and also patient with my questions. He fully explained exactly what the system was doing, what it was going to look like, and A couple weeks later, the electrician came through to permanently hook up the mitigation system. He was also professional and very personable, and made sure we had no questions. With the provided follow up test that we just plopped in a usps box, our radon levels dropped from over 9 to less than .9! One thing to keep in mind if you're getting a radon mitigation system installed: you'll have a big ol white tube going up the side of your house And out your roof. For a higher fee (I believe it was 400), you can have them route it out your garage to be inconspicuous. Last thing: we were worried about the fan being loud. I can't hear it at all. Lifetime did a great job and thank you so much for all the work!

He missed things the house needed including problems with the siding and the windows, and significantly underestimated the insulation needed in the attic. He also didn't include basic information about the furnace and in general did an inspection lacking in thoroughness. We have owned our own home for over 30 years and had been referred to this inspector by our realtor at a time when it was hard to find a really good one.
