Cheese Masters is one of my favorite stops during door county trips! The staff is always welcoming & very knowledgeable about cheese! You can try before you buy and they provide great suggestions and n cheeses to try if you like the ones you have already enjoyed. It's rare for us to leave without 3-4 new cheeses in tow. Cheese, glorious cheese. You can just walk in here and ask for a cheese tasting, and sample some of the best cheeses this part of Wisconsin has to offer. I was overwhelmed by all of the varieties, so I asked the cheesemonger (is that what you call them?) to just bring out samples of the popular ones. I tasted a gouda (Marieke Golden), a garlic and herb BellaVitano, an aged white cheddar, and a hatch pepper gouda. I ate lots of little bites of cheese, which was very satisfying. They have all types of cheese made from three types of milk: cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk, plus cheese made from a mixture of two or three. The cheese shop is small, so the cheese tasting happens right at the counter. After your tasting, you can say bye-bye and leave, or you can buy-buy some cheese to take with you. They also have other snacks that go with cheese, like crackers, nuts, jams, and candies. They also have cheese accessories, like cheese purses, shirts and other things. read more

This is an absolute must if you're in the area, and especially if you're next door at Harbor Ridge Winery. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about cheese and you can tell it's a passion and not just a job. You're allowed to sample literally any cheese they have in store, and you'll get a little background about it while you're tasting it. There is a huge variety of cheese in multiple sizes available to purchase. The cheese isn't cheap but then again I feel like it's in line with prices at other gourmet cheese shops. They also have a few other local food products in store as well so it makes it easy to stock up in one place. If you're a fan of cheese (and who isn't?) definitely stop here and you won't be disappointed. read more

Another must stop in Door County is this small cheese shop. There are always featured cheeses (four the day we were there) available for sampling. The only challenge is deciding which ones to buy (we travel in a campervan and have limited fridge space). Also sampled and purchased local toffee. Very friendly and knowledgeable owners. read more

DON'T GO HERE!! I was there last week and bought $108 worth of cheese. I immediately refrigerated it after I purchased it. When I got home, all of the Swiss cheese was moldy! I had already given it out to my family and friends, and they returned it showing me the mold. It is white flaky mold, which is hard. The cheese smelled moldy, looked moldy, and worse of all tasted moldy. I have attempted to contact this business over the last few days by phone. They do not answer their phone. I have left eight messages with no return phone call! What a scam of a business! Stay away from this place! Go to Renards in Sturgeon Bay as they have much better cheese and it is not moldy! read more

Cheese Glorious Cheese! Hidden behind a Winery is the Wisconsin Cheese Masters. So go yet your wine on, and then make your whey (lol) back to the cheese shop! Not a big place, but so worth the stop. You can sample everything they have... Except the 35 year old cheddar, that costs a buck, but it's donated to something! I would say they have about 40 different cheeses in the place. Good luck trying not to buy all of them! The 2 girls working were about the biggest cheese nerds I ever met! They gave out info, recipes and smiles the whole time I was there. Very likable. In sure their prices may be higher than other places, but I figured we were in Door County (touristy area) and I ate about a half wheel of free samples so I didn't care! Visited this past Sunday (9/22/19) as a stop on the Door County Trolley Wine Tour. Surprised for all the glowing positive reviews because my experience was the polar opposite. Did not catch his name but the "gentleman" who was doing the three free cheese samplings was completely unprofessional. He asked our group if we had any questions and my wife asked a question about aged cheese and he just started verbally coming at her being absolutely belittling a quite rude. This went on for a good couple of minutes before my wife, being the bigger person, just walked away. He clearly sensed my displeasure in his treatment of her and started to come at me, telling me that "We don't have cheeseburgers back here." Im not even sure what that is supposed to mean. As I stared at him dumbfounded by his statement he then asked me, "Do you like cheeseburgers?" After that I just walked away because I'm not sure what he was trying to get at but I'd had enough of his poor attitude being directed at us for I don't know what. The cheese we got to sample (during our wine tasting and in the shop before this guy lost his marbles) was quite good; but when you have people like that interacting with the customers, that's how you lose sales. We love cheese and love buying from little shops like that but they didn't get one red cent of ours that day. That guy really distracted from what is actually some good cheese. read more

It's not a cheese castle, but they've got a good range of cheeses you can sample with a glass of wine from Harbor Ridge next door. The staff working were friendly and let us sample any cheese we asked about. My fiance bought a slice of the Rattlesnake cheese, the spiciest one they had in the store, and I grabbed a block of peppermint cheese. I know what you're thinking, because I thought the same thing. "Peppermint cheese? Oooh, that's nasty." Surprise! It's actually a super subtle mint and I was so intrigued I had to bring some more home. Never had anything like it. At a tiny store in Egg Harbor all good Wisconsin original cheeses come to be offered. I went once, revisited and almost stopped a third time on a short vacation. Yes, it's that good. They offer a wide variety. A friendly server will offer you tastes of any cheese. A nice one suggested was a jalapeno gouda--a kick, but not a steamroller spiciness. So if it's good/great cheese that you're after, check it out. read more

He gave us some great advice and information about the cheeses they had out for sampling and definitely convinced our group which cheeses he thought we would like based on our tastes. We ended up getting a few different kinds while we were there. One of them being Carolina Reaper and yes, it does taste as hot as it sounds, but WOW, it is delicious cheese and as long as you like spicy foods, you'll love it! We also picked out some other mild cheeses as well all based on the samplers we tried. If you're in the area, stop in for some trials and get a few slabs of cheese. They only carry Wisconsin artisan cheeses. Several are award winning. They usually have 4 cheeses out for samples. However, you are free to try anything in the case too. I got a cheese knife here. It's great. I am not sure why I didn't have one before. The cheeses can get pretty pricey so you may want to be mindful of that. Service is always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I make a point to stop in here every time we are in Door County. They have some of the best cheese around. This is not mass produced cheese that you find in a grocery store. The cheese that they sell is hand made, using ancient techniques. One of the first things you see when you walk in the door are the free samples. They usually have 3 cheeses out for sampling. The number of varieties that they sell is mind boggling. The cheese is sold in half pound quantities. We ended up buying 4 half pound blocks on our most recent trip. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about all of their cheese. Wisconsin Cheese Masters also has a website that you can order from. Whenever I am in Door County, I have to stop here. I enjoy trying the different cheeses they have. The owner was working the counter when our group came in after our Harbor Ridge Winery visit. The customer service was amazing and the cheese was even better! Must visit on your trip to Door County! They offered tastings and we bought several of the options we tasted. They were helpful and gave us some cheese paper to cut our cheese on outside to enjoy with our wine. Good cheese but bad customer service. The guy at the counter seemed to have issues with giving us samples for the tasting. We purchased more than 100$ of cheese and even then the guy seemed to have an attitude as if we were there for just free tasting (which I don't think he should have an issue with anyway since they advertise tasting). The guy just kept passing comments which seemed completely racist...that too with other customers around. Wonderful cheese variety but horrible customer service. This is a must-stop-here kind of place!! Great cheeses. Huge variety, with some really unique cheeses on offer. The service is excellent. The tastings are free, and they let you try whichever ones you would like to sample. The server we had explained each one to us (we tried about 10 different ones). He would also ask what we generally liked and make some great suggestions. One basil pesto Gouda tasted just like pizza. Another tasted like a cheeseburger.
