This winery has it all. Tastings for Wine, Booze, Olive Oils and Vinegars. That also have samples of some foods such as mustards and jellies. With the wine, you can taste up to 5 wines for free. (They have a huge list to chose from). The people offering the samples were awesome. Friendly, fun and informative. They do lose a star from me because I was upset the pricing of some items. I like something called Corsica Bread, which is made locally in Door County. I bought a bag for the price of $15.99. I found these exact same bags at 3 other locations (one right across the street at Door County Coffee) for $11.99. Yeah, it was only $4... but that's a pretty severe mark up! Made me wonder how much higher every thing else is marked up at this store? But we did get some free samples so I guess we did end up paying for them! read more

Our Airbnb host recommended this winery for wine tasting when we were in Door County and I'm so glad for it! Once we got there we found out we get 5 free samples each and their wine menu has 70+ wines including reds, whites, blends, dries, sweets, themed, and everything in between. The staff was super sweet and checked in with us regularly without making us feel rushed. There were also pretzel sticks to munch on during the wine tastings. I do kind of wish there were seats around the bar so we didn't have to stand the entire time, but still a good experience! In addition to the free wine sampling, they also had free samples of other things including fudge, olive oil and balsamic vinegar with little cubes of bread, mustards, and salsas. They also have a distillery! We took a free tour that was very intimate (six of us with a tour guide) and good enough for a free tour. There were tons of shopping options in the store on top of the alcohol. The only regret I have is not trying any of their liquors or cocktails on the distillery side of things. I would definitely come back to try some of the other wines and spend more time at the distillery! read more

Our bartender was very nice and knowledgeable of the different wines. The list is huge to choose from. This was our favorite winery we stopped at in Door County!! The tasting was actually free, and the guy pouring the wine was outstanding, very talkative and knew a lot about the products. The place is HUGE. It is connected to the distillery and there is ton to shop from. The wine list was also massive. Something for everyone. They sold cute clothing, gift items, spices, olive oil, fudge, the works! We highly recommend their famed cherry mimosa. It will not disappoint. Door Peninsula winery was by far our favorite winery we visited on our small self-led winery tour. It had the widest selection and had free tastings- you can't beat that! You walk into the winery and you're met with a large room full of some sample of oil, vinegar, and mustard. They also have various spreads, cheeses, and snacks available to purchase. Then, you walk up a short staircase into the wine room, and to the left is the tasting room. They offer 5 free samples of any of the wines on their menu, and man it is expansive! You can find something for just about everyone!! Some of the favorites to call out are the cherry port, the cherry mead, maple frost, plum loco, and frostline. But all were very good! They had pretzels for you to snack on, which was a nice touch. They had a very large selection, and you can purchase a bottle when you're done! The staff was so helpful and very attentive. It felt fun, casual, and relaxed! I noticed they also have a wine bar and distillery, so they really have it all! This is definitely the place to be, it was super fun! This was our first Door County winery visit, and it was a treat. Here you get 5 complimentary wine samples per person, which was quite nice. Daniel and Alicia were the friendly, welcoming, and energetic hosts on duty today. There was a pretty big mid-afternoon retirees-looking gathering for the freebies. We all just happily stood around the wine bar, and it looked like there were two wine bars actually. I had a sampling of 5 reds and the wife settled on a couple of white ones. This winery is prominently advertised on the main Highway 42 and I have a feeling it may be the biggest and maybe the most touristy one on the peninsula. I also mean touristy here in a nice way in that it's set up for big crowds, has a big parking lot, has a lot of kick-knacks, wine products, and souvenirs on display in stylish, modern, and well-kept showrooms. They are also co-located with Door County Distillery where you can pay for liquor samples, which we'll try some other time. I honestly never noticed this big winery in the past because I always had my eye on Door County Coffee right across the street when in this Carlsville area. Great first visit for us, and it sets us up for some benchmarking of this popular Door County activity. I'm not sure if many of the wineries offer complimentary tastings. I didn't buy any wine this time. Everything I tasted was in the "drinkable" range though, ha. I did particularly like the oaked cabernet sauvignon. I also thought a blackberry merlot was an interesting taste in that it was a flavored wine instead of say a flavored water or soft drink. I would add that if you're from Chicagoland like many visitors are, that you don't visit here and plan on making the drive back that evening. Even better is that Door Peninsula Winery has a ton of local artisans showcased in their space so it's like a one stop shop on your way in or out of Door County to stock up on gifts. You get five wine samples for free in their winery and the worst part about it is that there are so many to choose from you won't be able to narrow it down! I think you can purchase additional samples but the pours are generous and it might not be the best idea if you plan on hopping around to a few different wineries. You can also sample craft spirits in the distillery area, but those are $2 per sample (still absolutely worth it). And don't forget to walk through the wine for sale area to the back part where they have olive oil samples and tons of other food available for purchase. It isn't the most modern or newest winery in the area, but they know who they are and they wear it perfectly. Definitely do not skip Door Peninsula Winery the next time you're in the area! read more

Have always wanted to stop here and finally got the chance! We did not do the tasting (maybe next time) but had a great experience shopping here. It's a well-laid out area, with food (fudge, cheese, snacks, etc.) on the bottom level and wine, etc. up top. They are also connected to the distillery which does liquor, etc. They have A LOT of wine, it was a bit overwhelming to try to pick but we did our best. If you buy a case (mix-and-match) you get a 20% discount, which is nice. They specialize in fruit wines, but they had a lot of great 'traditional' options as well. Part of their gift shop also has fun wine-themed gifts: t-shirts, wine glasses, etc. The staff was also super helpful and friendly, which I appreciated. They seemed to have a good setup for tastings though again, we didn't do on this visit. We've enjoyed the wines we've tried so far and have many more to try. Overall, this was very reasonably priced and a fun shopping trip, I look forward to going back! read more

Theirs are the mass appeal wines that this area is known for, along with low prices and an almost ridiculously large selection. One of many wineries in Door County. Up to 5 wine tastings are complimentary. They've also got olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and fudge tastings. My family has a wide range of palates and they have a variety of wine that will appeal to just about everyone. Make sure that you try some of the wines that include Door County cherries. The distillery on site produces local liquor and they just opened an open air tasting room next door that also has some food offerings, so you can spend time after you're done tasting. The winery and distillery both have lots of cute Door County, cherry, and alcohol themed gifts and trinkets, in addition to the alcohol products. It's a fun place to visit whenever I'm in town. Nice place to visit on your way up Hy42 to the interior of Door County. Lots of gourmet goods to purchase (no samples during pandemic), the wine tasting is open though. There are products made in the Door including oils, jams, jellies and salsas. Door county based souvenirs and of course many flavors of wine which are predominantly fruit based. Apple, cherry, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry etc. My wife loves the cherry mimosa and their Riesling. For my taste there is also the Door County distillery on site. They produce brandy, gin, and whiskey. I bought a bottle of their bourbon which was a little on the light side taste-wise but nice for sipping neat. Friendly staff! read more

A weekend with our moms in Door County, you HAVE to hit up some of the wineries! I think it's actually illegal if you don't... All of the COVID protocols are there, masks, sanitizer, plexiglass, etc. So you can rest easy while you explore the large shop or wait for your turn at the tasting. Unlike other wineries, the tastings here are free, though a touch smaller than other places in the county. Baristas are pleasant and efficient; they know you waited in line and want to help you and get you on your way. The only downfall was the lack of staff to get you checked out as efficiently as the tastings are. Of course people weren't physically distancing, though that's not Door Peninsula's fault. read more

We made the mistake of coming in 30 minutes before close. Super COVID cautious... had to wait our turn to sample. The bar staff was super friendly. We went to the winery and my husband ran into the disterally since that is his thing. Loved all the offerings. The remaining service from the folks was displeasing..... the one male worker called my female friend a male.... when he was asker HER to put her face mask on. He called her Sir. He realized right away and apologized but made the money she wanted to spend go right out the door. I feel if you are going to that get with 2020 times, excuse me guest, friend or I don't know get fun with it. Not go by gender. Definitely stop here if you're in Door County. There is free wine tasting, fudge and mustard samples, and some distillery samples for a small fee in the adjoining tasting room. We loved the Door County cherry and sharp cheddar cheese spread on some crackers and bought some for later. Most all of the wines are very sweet and fruity which, for me, isn't ideal. But when in Door County, why not take a bottle to enjoy in your hotel room up the road? read more

Stopped here for a tour and sampling. Very busy because of tour buses and a very small area for wine tasting. Anyway, we decided to check out the gift shop, and browse the merchandise area. Had a sample of their olive oil's, vinaigrettes, cheeses, and mustards. After our purchases, we stepped outside and went out to the patio next to a burning fireplace on this cold October afternoon. Ordered a flight of their homemade wines and chilled. Staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. Definitely a great experience. Highly recommended. read more

Pros: clean, very big space with lots to look at, friendly staff, cool stop, 3 different tastings to do (liquor, wine, fudge) huge store, they make cocktails at tasting area to try after for $8. Complimentary shot glass for doing liquor tasting. Cons: A little outdated inside, no music inside, a little pricey for some store items. Overall pleased with our experience, i think it could just be a bit more lively inside, however they're open everyday same time all year round. My friends and I stopped at four wineries on the way to our final destination in Door County, and this one stands out to me because of the large inventory and selection of wines to sample. This was the only winery I bought a cherry wine from because it provided me with a wow factor. Other than wines, Door County Distillery has gin, whisky, bitters, and vodka for sampling. Wine sampling is free. Gin, whiskey, bitters, and higher end vodka sampling was only $5 and you get a souvenir shot glass. The front of the store also has 15-20 flavored olive oils for you to sample. We actually stopped back here on the way home. We really liked this winery. Other wineries we visited and enjoyed were Von Stiehl, Door 44 and Harbor Ridge. read more

Every time we make a trip up north to see family, we take a day trip up to Door County. Door Peninsula Winery is always a stop for us. Over the last couple of years they have really remodeled and made it even more inviting. They have a gift shop with all different kinds of gifts especially for the wine lover and also for your home. They also sell all the wines that they make. The shop also has food items such as crackers, sauces and spices made in Door County. My favorite part of the winery is the tasting bar. When we first started coming you could taste how ever many you wanted. This last time was a little different. You have to buy a card, (which we didn't know where to purchase it, but it is at the registers). The card is 3 dollars which allows you to taste 10 different wines. If you purchase a bottle, your tasting card takes 3 dollars off the bottle price. So basically, it seemed like a waste of time to purchase the card, however it was nice to get the 3 dollars off. The only other problem with the card, is that the employees behind the bar, do not check off the your card as you taste. So I guess you could taste every one of their wines and they wouldn't know the difference. I guess that's good, but again why do we have to buy the card then! I would definitely recommend stopping by even if you want one taste or know exactly what you want to buy. We always buy a couple bottles, we would purchase more but it is hard to bring back to Orlando. My favorites are the mango and the blackberry Merlot. If you are in Door County I would say please check it out. They also have a restaurant upstairs so it can be a nice little stop along the way. read more

Probably my favorite winery. Door Peninsula has FREE wine tasting, a huge selection of wines and spirits, and lots of wine accessories. I left with 6 bottles of my favorite wines including my most favorite, chocolate cherry wine. It's like drinking a chocolate covered cherry. Next time I want to get the cherry mimosa wine and the Concord grape wine. The price is very reasonable, between 11 and 15 dollars a bottle. read more

This is probably one of my favorite wineries in the area. The winery itself is super cool. There is a water fall in the center of the building. The bathrooms and everything are located in the bottom of the building. All of that is super clean. When you head up stairs, you are greeted by friendly staff. They are polite and explain their wines but they also let you alone to have conversation with who you are with. Also, the wine is free for the first five samples and then you have to pay if you want more. You can get to-go cups which do not cost a lot at all. All of the wine you sample is sold in store. Most of it is under $20 which is a really good deal. There is also some bread samples and mustard samples in this building as well. They also have an outdoor wine bar. I definitely would check this place out if you are in the area. You would not be disappointed! read more

I was excited to see that the winery is currently taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather and offering free outdoor wine and spirit tasting. Inside the building, they're taking solid precautions to keep the customers and staff safe. A good variety of flights (5 one-ounce pours) are available to sample. I think everyone will be able to sample something that they enjoy. Unfortunately, that's where my positive review ends. I was incredibly underwhelmed with the actual taste of the wines. The flights offered outside had been pre-poured, and we weren't exactly sure how long each one had been sitting out or how long ago the bottles were opened. This was reflected by at least 4 of our 10 combined samples tasting completely unpalatable (think garlic and skunk-- yikes!). I would have been more than happy to wait the extra 2+ minutes to get a freshly poured flight. I can't complain too much about a free tasting; however, I think they're doing themselves a disservice by serving via this process. While we were ultimately able to find and purchase one style of wine we liked, I would have loved to taste each one in its full glory! We certainly would have purchased more to gift to friends and family. read more

Not my first trip here and won't be my last. It is so much more than wine, they have a great gift shop, and distillery as well. If you go for wine though, they offer 7 complimentary pours this includes their new ciders along with wine (you can also do tasting in the distillery). They are extremely helpful and friendly helping you fine wine you will like. There is a separate bar area to sit and have drinks and a great restaurant, we did not eat there today but have in the past and the food is awesome. Stopped in here as part of a wine tasting trip through the Door Peninsula not knowing what to expect. Once we arrived I was impressed with the building itself which has a nice upscale feel to it with a circular stone facade and a 2 story water feature as you enter the atrium. Very tastefully done. Once inside there are two tasting areas, one for distillery, which I did not try and one for the wine they produce which is what I focused on. The big surprise to me relative to the tasting was you get 7 pours for FREE. Wow! In a world where they say there is no such thing as a free lunch there is such a thing as free liquor in Wisconsin. I feel like I must have died and gone to wine heaven in Wisconsin. Relative to the wine, don't expect to get a Wine advocate 90 point wine here but what you will get is a broad selection of different wines that range from very sweet to dry that are pleasant wines at a very good price point. In addition to the wines, you will find various wine/liquor merchandise along with fudge, cheeses meats and other assorted items. Lastly the staff at DPW is extremely friendly and goes out of its way to take care of you with a smile and friendly conversation. Beautiful facility! Great complimentary wine tasting! The employees were wonderful! The only negative is that we went to enjoy a glass of wine and perhaps some charcuterie but they were out of their cheese and sausage plate, very disappointing. We settled for a cheese spread with Ritz crackers and chips and salsa.
