Even the people in billing are smart, insurance savvy, and help me make informed decisions that align my needs with my wallet.

What a horrible experience I had there yesterday. I'm having a crown put in which I paid in full $800+ (after insurance) for before they would even begin to start the process. You have a broken tooth, you're in pain but we won't help you until you pay the whole thing. Can you imagine breaking your arm and going to the ER to be told, yea we can fix that for you but you have to pay in full before we touch it, but I digress. I pay the money because it was the option I was given. The experience itself was quite painful to the point I had tears streaming down my face. I barely sit up from the chair, and the receptionist is standing there to take me back to her office to make sure I pay the $13 difference they are showing from the already $800+ I paid last week. Am I debating that I owe the money, no but is it in poor taste to have the receptionist standing in the doorway of your exam room to shake you down for $13 that they didn't collect from you originally? YES!! Send a bill in the mail like a normal doctor's office, I don't know, maybe allow the patient to receive their explanation of benefits from the insurance company before, or heck, even during your shakedown. You make your patients feel like cows being herded in and out. Not to mention being treated like you've been on the lam evading paying the Racine Dental Group $13 balance. The revolving door of Doctors and hygienists should tell you all you need to know about what a joke this place has become. If this was a review about the actual care I received it would be 5 stars so apologies to the doctors, assistants and hygienists there that have worked with me, you all are top notch. The greedy corporate folk that have turned this place I've been going to since a child with Dr. Jerry are the ones who the one star is going to.

I was so optimistic that Spring Dental would be the right choice for my dental provider. They told…read moreme my insurance would be used to cover many of my appointments to keep my co-pay low. Over and over again, I received poor service and false information. During my first appointment, it was recommended I get impressions and a dental mouth guard to prevent my teeth from grinding. I went in for impressions early in the morning, and was told the guard would be ready in a few short weeks. I was then contacted saying "The impressions weren't strong enough; we need you to come back and get them again." I understand these things happen, so I told my job I had to miss an hour of work the next day, and got the impressions again. When I left, they told me the bill was $796.00. I asked if this was what was owed before or after insurance. They told me if I paid 50% of the bill, they would contact my insurance and follow up with me to settle the rest. Not only was I never contacted (and I'm assuming neither was my insurance provider), but I was sent multiple letters each month during the holiday season telling me I needed to pay the remaining $398.00. When I went in to ask/settle the balance, they told me I had to pay interest. Keep in mind, they never honored what they told me about my insurance covering the cost, that they would contact my insurance, or that they would follow up with me. I caution anyone from trusting Spring Dental as I did. It was worth it to me to end my services with them just a few months after starting due to their dishonesty.

Then I found a new dentist and went to have those expensive X-rays that I had paid for sent to the new dentist. Only one panorama X-ray was sent. When I said I was absolutely not getting all that work done, their attitudes changed from pleasant to angry. Still, first step was to schedule a cleaning. When I asked if I could simply get a regular cleaning as I have had for the last 40 years, the answer was no - the "treatment plan" calls for a deep cleaning. I said no and walked on out. Watch your pocketbooks or they will have their hands in it. Oh, and my hubby had an appoint the next day...guess who also needed a "deep cleaning" on his treatment plan and was not able to schedule a regular cleaning. SMH
