Went here on Sunday with a group of friends. I tried the cider flight, sampled the slushie and shared a few carafes of sangria with friends. Everything was phenomenal. This new spot is a really nice, adult hang out space. The atmosphere is casual,but slightly upscale. I love the murals on the wall and the bar looking out the open windows. The people are great and very knowledgeable. My favorite thing was the cider slushy...what a great idea! It was a hot day when we visited, so it was a welcome treat on a hot day (and it was delicious!). The only complaint I have is the wine sized pours that they do for the normal ciders. They charge what others charge for a pint, but you don't get anywhere near that much. If they fix that, then this place will be perfect. Either way, though, I'll definitely be back! read more

I agree with the previous post that the atmosphere and space are both very nice. The space is very open, seating is plentiful, and it has a very calm, relaxing vibe. My issue is with the price of the cider. I was very surprised at how little cider you get for the $6-8 per glass price. I certainly didn't measure, but while the menu says 8 ounces, I would say that no more than 6 ounces were in the glasses we ordered. Wise Bird is a wonderful addition to the distillery district. If you're like me and don't like beer, but love cider, then this is the place for you! Granted, for beer lovers, they do have some beer offerings as well. Wise Bird ciders selection are terrific. I tried the Hidden Creek and it was delicious. They offer flights as well so you can sample a variety. There is plenty of seating for groups. They have garage doors that open up during warm months which makes it even larger. The space is great- super relaxing and beautiful, and the outdoor area is perfect to enjoy drinks while kids play. I had the cider slushee, which lived up to my expectations. My friends got flights, which they didn't love. I love cider because I have to- I have to go gluten free, so I'm always happy to find ciders. Unfortunately, all the ciders on the flight today were pretty dry, and mostly tasted the same. I like flights that offer a little more variety. I tried two flights of four out of 13 ciders on drafts. So many great options! They also had craft beers and mixed drinks as well. Stopped by not realizing they also offered food and man, I was not disappointed! Split some of their dry rub smoked chicken wings and homemade soft pretzels and they were both phenomenal! There is a new kid on the block in the distillery district to amp up Lexington's cider game and they are doing a good job to add some variety to this bourbon and brews town. The decor features a minimalist, open approach with pine tables and benches, but stellar wall murals on the wall. You enter through a garage door entrance and have the option of sitting inside or outside. Dog friendly environment! My kickball team swung by this joint after the game and had a wonderful time. The owners even swung by to say hello and thank us for coming in. Wise Bird features four house ciders and four guest selections. I tried The Vermonter which was described as a Gin Barrel Aged Cider which peaked my interest. This was a very solid, refreshing cider with no fancy bells and whistles to it. I don't believe you will be disappointed with this choice. If you are looking for a cider to blow your mind, this may not be the cider for you. You also have the option of getting a flight of four ciders which is nice because with one flight you can try all four house ciders. The price does seem a little high for the pour amount you are getting, but it might be the size and shape of the glassware that creates that illusion. There is also some share plates available for purchase such as a charcuterie board. This place definitely adds some variety to the distillery distinct and is worth a visit for sure. read more

Wise Bird Cider is FINALLY open in the Pepper Distillery District and I could not be happier about it!!! Let me start by saying that the space has been outfitted BEAUTIFULLY, both inside and out. Right now they have 4 of their own ciders on draft - which is perfect for a flight - along with 4 guest taps, 2 of which are cider and 1 of which is Pivot Brewing! They also have a couple canned options. Commonwealth Gold was my favorite by a landslide, and the Shacksbury Rosé was to die for. They've teamed up with Martine's Pastries and Wine+Market to offer a small menu nightly until 10:00, then Thursday-Sunday they'll have food trucks. The manager, Chris Griffin, exceeds all expectations from what I've read about him; this place is in good hands and has a bright future ahead. As if the parking situation down there wasn't dire enough, go ahead and plan on Ubering to and from because this place is going to pack it out. Easily my new favorite hangout downtown. read more

It's impossible to find "good" cider locally in the markets so when we discovered "Wise Bird", a prayer was answered. While, admittedly, they feature some semi-sweet, and semi-dry ciders, for us "good" cider is dry cider. WB has at least a dozen dry ciders! The drink menu also includes cider-based slushies and delicious sounding cocktails which incorporate cider into the "usual" ingredients. (Beer drinkers are accommodated too with several beers; I can only remember seeing West Sixth IPA but there were others.) The location is awesome - industrial in the first floor of a defunct distillery. There is bar seating, traditional tables with chairs on the floor as well as some cozy nooks and, our favorite, a row of high bar stools that face out huge windows that can be opened and which look out onto the lush green lawn with apple trees and cornhole boards. The Town Branch Creek then forms the outer boarder of the property. There is also a huge outdoor tent awning by the creek that you can opt to sit under. Back indoors, there is an assortment of board games and Jenga-type amusements available to patrons. Also, to the right of the property are the bocce courts. (So no excuse for saying you're bored!) Good tunes that are not too loud play in the background. Food is from their dedicated food truck parked right outside. The "Little Fork" calls itself "trailer gourmet" with a menu formed around "farm-to-table dishes". You place your food order at the bar and you're given a buzzer that alerts you to walk outside to pick it up from the truck when it's ready. Alternatively, you can order right at the cart with the same buzzer alert. Popped in for a quick drink. Loved the atmosphere. Very relaxing with both indoor and outdoor games, making it fun for the entire age group. However, I came during the afternoon, so not sure how family friends during the evenings. Seating was nice and comfortable with both couches and bar stools. I ordered one of the specials they had which was a frozen cider- wasn't as good as it sounded. I found the taste to be VERY tart. This new place is on my list of when in Lexington, KY ... drink cider here. Place serves lunch, dinner, and drinks. It is cool enough that they juggle customers that include kids, groups, indoor/outdoor seating and walk-ins. I hear it is clean, nice and relaxed. When I visit here I am going to plan to sit back and relax and stay for a couple of hours. They are open until 10pm on Sunday nights and open until 12 midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. read more
