I ordered the Tomato Bisque & Grilled Cheese. The bisque was smooth and rich, with a little sweetness from the balsamic and a subtle depth from the vodka and truffle salt. The pine nuts sprinkled on top added a nice crunch. The grilled cheese was incredible. The Texas toast bread was buttery and crisp, sandwiching a creamy mix of cheddar, Camembert, and cream cheese. The jalapeño preserves add just the right touch of sweet heat. It was delectable and even better when dunking in the bisque. My fiancée and I were heading back from Augusta, Georgia. We went to see my family for Thanksgiving. We were looking for a brewery in the Lexington area and I stumbled on this place. Waited over an hour for one family of our party to get food when other tables got the SAME food we ordered before them, prior to us getting it. First, I'm so grateful to Ethereal for opening up their second floor to host my large (15 people) work group with only one day's notice! They saved me. Also, the drinks and food were delicious and the service was really friendly. Between 15 people, I think we tried just about everything on the menu. Highlights - smoked salmon pimento cheese dip, large pretzel with Brie dip and mustard, Rueben, the thin crunchy fries with dip trio, chicken wings, and lamb sausage. My favorite drink was the "Honey, the Bee's Knees are Smoking Oranges Again!" The lentil salad with fresh veggies that comes with the lamb sausage fell flat, it desperately needed some acid to wake it up, but everything else was great so all is forgiven. read more

We recently hosted our rehearsal dinner in the upstairs portion of Public House and were very happy with the service and food! Greg was very accommodating and came up with a fantastic personalized menu for our group that was within our price point. Ask about the asparagus bruschetta if you are catering a large group, it was a huge hit with guests and talked about the whole weekend. Donovan was very hospitable and ensured that all our guests were taken care of and went above and beyond to ensure that we were having a good time. We were sad to not catch his stand up routine (we hear its wonderful). Chris was hilarious and a welcomed addition to our party. Ethereal has a large variety of beers. I don't drink IPAs and was a fan of the farmhouse witbier and lemon saison which were both perfect for the summer weather. For non-beer drinkers, there's also wines and delicious craft cocktails. Honey, the bees are smoking oranges again was hands down my favorite cocktail from Lexington. Everything was freshly made and didn't give off the feeling like it was bought in bulk from Gordon Food Services, Costco, Sams Club, or Krogers. Believe me people can tell the taste difference. Nevertheless the execution was slightly off. For example the wings were definitely freshly cooked but the bbq dry rub they used was tasteless and wasn't abundant enough to fully coat all the wings. The accompanying vinegar or malt vinegar sauce was just vinegar and was salty, pungent, and acidic. Unsure about the thought process of dipping wings in vinegar but maybe it's a Kentucky thing or something. Had the wings been rolled in a wet sauce or buffalo sauce or something they would've been great. The fish and chips was an unorthodox paradox because the fish was fresh but almost too GAMEY like it was fished out of a nearby lake or creek. I'm also unsure what kind of fish it was as most fish and chips dishes use cod, pollock, haddock etc and this fish taste definitely weren't any of those. Furthermore the piece of fish was SMALL for $16 dish and we got up charged for extra tartar. Usually if it's fish and chips it's one hulking large piece of fish or if the fish is small they give you two to three pieces or more. The batter of the fish had good beer undertones. The fries were fresh cut though, the hush puppies were good and house made and the tartar tasted good and was a MUST to counterbalance the gamey-ness of the fish. It's hard to find fault with a place where everything is scratch made and fresh but the execution and flavor profiles across the board from what we ordered could've been better. Definitely go and give em a try for a DINE IN experience as maybe it'll be better as we got our food to go and maybe that was the issue or try something different other than wings and fish chips. We can't speak on their beer and beverage selection as again we got takeout. read more

Good beer, cool ambiance. They have shelves of games and cards which is always a plus. There is an upstairs which I personally didn't go up to so can't comment on that. Food was pretty good, I got the burger and fries which both left a bit to be desired, but they have a lot of other options. Had a minor annoying experience, I was about halfway done eating and 3/4 done with my beer, went to the bathroom, and when I came back they had cleared my table. Granted I was alone, so the table was empty so I understand I may be slightly at fault too, but unfortunately ended my experience a bit early and left a slight sour taste in my mouth.
